Jerusalem like a Useless Vine

1Then the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to me, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֕ם'a.DamH120,howמַה־mah-H4100is the woodעֵץ־'etz-H6086of thevineהַגֶּ֖פֶןha.Ge.fenH1612betterthanH4480anyמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605woodעֵ֑ץ'EtzH6086of a branchהַזְּמוֹרָ֕הha.ze.mo.RahH2156whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834is among the treesבַּעֲצֵ֥יba.'a.TzeiH6086of the forestהַיָּֽעַר׃hai.Ya.'arH3293?

3Can woodעֵ֔ץ'EtzH6086be takenהֲיֻקַּ֤חha.yu.KachH3947from it to makeלַעֲשׂ֖וֹתla.'a.SotH6213anythingלִמְלָאכָ֑הlim.la.KhahH4399,orאִם־'im-H518can evena pegיָתֵ֔דya.TedH3489be takenיִקְח֤וּyik.ChuH3947from it on which to hangלִתְל֥וֹתlit.LotH8518anyכָּל־kol-H3605utensilכֶּֽלִי׃Ke.liH3627?

4Ifהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009it has been putנִתַּ֣ןni.TanH5414into thefireלָאֵ֖שׁla.'EshH784for fuelלְאָכְלָ֑הle.'okh.LahH402, andthe fireהָאֵשׁ֙ha.'EshH784has consumedאָכְלָ֤ה'a.khe.LahH398bothשְׁנֵ֨יshe.NeiH8147of its endsקְצוֹתָ֜יוke.tzo.TavH7098and its middleוְתוֹכ֣וֹve.to.KhoH8432partH8432has beenH2787charredH2787, is it thengoodהֲיִצְלַ֖חha.yitz.LachH6743foranythingלִמְלָאכָֽה׃lim.la.KhahH4399?

5Beholdהִנֵּה֙hi.NehH2009,while it is intactתָמִ֔יםta.MimH8549,it is not madeיֵֽעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213intoanythingלִמְלָאכָ֑הlim.la.KhahH4399.HowH637muchH637lessH637,whenכִּי־ki-H3588the fireאֵ֤שׁ'eshH784has consumedאֲכָלַ֙תְהוּ֙'a.kha.Lat.huH398it and it isH2787charredH2787,can it stillע֖וֹדodH5750be madeוְנַעֲשָׂ֥הve.na.'a.SahH6213intoanythingלִמְלָאכָֽה׃ סlim.la.KhahH4399!

6Thereforeלָכֵ֗ןla.KhenH3651,thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GodH3068saysאָמַר֙'a.MarH559: ‘As the woodעֵץ־'etz-H6086of the vineהַגֶּ֙פֶן֙ha.Ge.fenH1612among the treesבְּעֵ֣ץbe.'EtzH6086of the forestהַיַּ֔עַרhai.Ya.'arH3293,whichH834I have givenH5414to the fireלָאֵ֖שׁla.'EshH784for fuelלְאָכְלָ֑הle.'okh.LahH402,soכֵּ֣ןkenH3651have I givenH5414upH5414the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֖יyo.she.VeiH3427of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389;

7and Isetוְנָתַתִּ֤יve.na.ta.TiH5414My faceפָּנַי֙pa.NaiH6440against them. Though they havecomeיָצָ֔אוּya.Tza.'uH3318outH3318of the fireמֵהָאֵ֣שׁme.ha.'EshH784,yet the fireוְהָאֵ֖שׁve.ha.'EshH784will consumeתֹּֽאכְלֵ֑םtokh.LemH398them. Then you will knowוִֽידַעְתֶּם֙vi.da'.TemH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588I setבְּשׂוּמִ֥יbe.su.MiH7760My faceפָּנַ֖יpa.NaiH6440against them.

8So I will makeוְנָתַתִּ֥יve.na.ta.TiH5414the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776desolateשְׁמָמָ֑הshe.ma.MahH8077,becauseיַ֚עַןYa.'anH3282they haveactedH4603unfaithfullyמָ֣עֲלוּ מַ֔עַלMa.'a.lu Ma.'alH4603 H4604,’”declaresנְאֻ֖םne.'UmH5002the Lordאֲדֹנָ֥י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068.
