Prophecy against Mount Seir

1Now the wordדְבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068cameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961to me, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

2“Sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of manאָדָ֕ם'a.DamH120,setשִׂ֥יםsimH7760your faceפָּנֶ֖יךָpa.Nei.khaH6440againstעַל־'al-H5921Mountהַ֣רharH2022Seirשֵׂעִ֑ירse.'IrH8165,and prophesyוְהִנָּבֵ֖אve.hi.na.Ve'H5012againstעָלָֽיו׃'a.LavH5921it

3and sayוְאָמַ֣רְתָּve.'a.Mar.taH559to it, ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136GodH3068saysאָמַר֙'a.MarH559: “BeholdH2009,I am againstאֵלֶ֖יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413you, Mountהַר־har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִ֑ירse.'IrH8165, And I willreachH5186outH5186with My handיָדִי֙ya.DiH3027againstעָלֶ֔יךָ'a.Lei.khaH5921youAnd makeוּנְתַתִּ֖יךָu.ne.ta.Ti.khaH5414you adesolationשְׁמָמָ֥הshe.ma.MahH8077and a wasteוּמְשַׁמָּֽה׃u.me.sha.MahH4923.

4I willturnH7760your citiesעָרֶ֙יךָ֙'a.Rei.khaH5892toH7760ruinsחָרְבָּ֣הcha.re.BahH2723,And you will becomeתִֽהְיֶ֑הtih.YehH1961a desolationשְׁמָמָ֣הshe.ma.MahH8077.Then you will knowוְיָדַעְתָּ֖ve.ya.da'.TaH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

5Sinceיַ֗עַןYa.'anH3282you have hadהֱי֤וֹתhe.YotH1961everlastingעוֹלָ֔םo.LamH5769hostilityאֵיבַ֣ת'ei.VatH342and have turnedH5064overH5064the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478to the powerיְדֵי־ye.dei-H3027of the swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719at the timeבְּעֵ֣תbe.'EtH6256of their disasterאֵידָ֔ם'ei.DamH343,at the timeבְּעֵ֖תbe.'EtH6256of thepunishmentעֲוֹ֥ן'a.VonH5771of the endקֵֽץ׃KetzH7093,

6thereforeלָכֵ֣ןla.KhenH3651as I liveחַי־chai-H2416,”declaresנְאֻם֙ne.'UmH5002the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068, “I will certainlyכִּֽי־ki-H3588doomאֶעֶשְׂךָ֖'e.'es.KhaH6213you tobloodshedלְדָ֥םle.DamH1818,and bloodshedוְדָ֣םve.DamH1818will pursueיִרְדֲּפֶ֑ךָyir.da.Fe.khaH7291you; sinceאִם־'im-H518you have not hatedשָׂנֵ֖אתָsa.Ne.taH8130bloodshedדָ֛םdamH1818,therefore bloodshedוְדָ֥םve.DamH1818will pursueיִרְדֲּפֶֽךָ׃yir.da.Fe.khaH7291you.

7I will makeוְנָֽתַתִּי֙ve.na.ta.TiH5414Mountהַ֣רharH2022Seirשֵׂעִ֔ירse.'IrH8165a wasteלְשִֽׁמְמָ֖הle.shi.MahH8077and a desolationוּשְׁמָמָ֑הu.she.ma.MahH8077and I will eliminateוְהִכְרַתִּ֥יve.hikh.ra.TiH3772from it one who passesH5674throughH5674and returnsוָשָֽׁב׃va.ShavH7725.

8I willfillוּמִלֵּאתִ֥יu.mi.le.TiH4390its mountainsהָרָ֖יוha.RavH2022with its slainחֲלָלָ֑יוcha.la.LavH2491;those killedחַלְלֵי־cha.lei-H2491by the swordחֶ֖רֶבChe.revH2719will fallיִפְּל֥וּyi.pe.LuH5307on your hillsגִּבְעוֹתֶ֤יךָgiv.'o.Tei.khaH1389,in your valleysוְגֵאוֹתֶ֙יךָ֙ve.ge.'o.Tei.khaH1516,and in allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605your ravinesאֲפִיקֶ֔יךָ'a.fi.Kei.chaH650.

9I will makeאֶתֶּנְךָ֔'e.ten.KhaH5414you a permanentעוֹלָם֙o.LamH5769desolationשִֽׁמְמ֤וֹתshi.MotH8077,and your citiesוְעָרֶ֖יךָve.'a.Rei.khaH5892will not be inhabitedH3427.Then you will knowוִֽידַעְתֶּ֖םvi.da'.TemH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

10“Sinceיַ֣עַןYa.'anH3282you havesaidאֲ֠מָרְךָ'A.ma.re.khaH559, ‘These twoשְׁנֵ֨יshe.NeiH8147nationsהַגּוֹיִ֜םha.go.YimH1471and these twoשְׁתֵּ֧יshe.TeiH8147landsהָאֲרָצ֛וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776will be mine, and we will possessוִֽירַשְׁנ֑וּהָvi.rash.Nu.haH3423them,’ although theLordוַֽיהוָ֖הva.Yah.wehH3068was thereשָׁ֥םshamH8033,

11thereforeלָכֵ֣ןla.KhenH3651as I liveחַי־chai-H2416,”declaresנְאֻם֮ne.'UmH5002the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068, “I will dealוְעָשִׂ֗יתִיve.'a.Si.tiH6213with youaccording to your angerכְּאַפְּךָ֙ke.'a.pe.KhaH639and according to your envyוּכְקִנְאָ֣תְךָ֔u.khe.kin.'A.te.khaH7068whichH834you displayedעָשִׂ֔יתָה'a.Si.tahH6213becauseH4480of your hatredמִשִּׂנְאָתֶ֖יךָmi.sin.'a.Tei.khaH8135for them; so I willmakeוְנוֹדַ֥עְתִּיve.no.Da'.tiH3045Myself knownH3045among them whenH3512I judgeאֶשְׁפְּטֶֽךָ׃'esh.pe.Te.khaH8199you.

12Then you will knowוְֽיָדַעְתָּ֮ve.ya.da'.TaH3045that I, the Lordיְהוָה֒Yah.wehH3068,have heardשָׁמַ֣עְתִּי׀sha.Ma'.tiH8085allכָּל־kol-H3605your insultsנָאָֽצוֹתֶ֗יךָna.'a.tzo.Tei.khaH5007whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you have spokenאָמַ֛רְתָּ'a.Mar.taH559againstעַל־'al-H5921the mountainsהָרֵ֥יha.ReiH2022of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478sayingלֵאמֹ֣ר׀le.MorH559, ‘They areH8074desolateH8074; they have beengivenנִתְּנ֖וּni.te.NuH5414to us as foodלְאָכְלָֽה׃le.'okh.LahH402.’

13And you havespokenבְּפִיכֶ֔םbe.fi.KhemH1431 H6310arrogantlyH1431againstעָלַי֙'a.LaiH5921Me and have multipliedוְהַעְתַּרְתֶּ֥םve.ha'.tar.TemH6280your wordsדִּבְרֵיכֶ֑םdiv.rei.KhemH1697againstעָלַ֖י'a.LaiH5921Me;I Myselfאֲנִ֖י'a.NiH589have heardשָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃ סsha.Ma.'e.tiH8085it.”

14ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordאֲדֹנָ֣י'a.do.NaiH136 GodH3068saysאָמַ֖ר'a.MarH559: “As allכָּל־kol-H3605theearthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776rejoicesכִּשְׂמֹ֙חַ֙kis.Mo.achH8055,I will makeאֶעֱשֶׂה־'e.'e.seh-H6213you a desolationשְׁמָמָ֖הshe.ma.MahH8077.

15As yourejoicedH8055over the inheritanceלְנַחְלַ֧תle.nach.LatH5159of the houseבֵּֽית־beit-H1004of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478becauseעַ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־'al 'a.Sher-H5921 H834it wasH8074desolateH8074,soכֵּ֣ןkenH3651I will doאֶעֱשֶׂה־'e.'e.seh-H6213to you. You will be adesolationשְׁמָמָ֨הshe.ma.MahH8077,Mountהַר־har-H2022Seirשֵׂעִיר֙se.'IrH8165,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605EdomH112,allכֻּלָּ֔הּku.LahH3605of it. Then they will knowוְיָדְע֖וּve.ya.de.'UH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ פYah.wehH3068.”’
