22PilateG4091 saidG3004 to them, “ThenG3767 whatG5101 shall I doG4160 with JesusG2424 1who is calledG3004 ChristG5547?” They allG3956 saidG3004, “2CrucifyG4717 Him!” 23And he saidG5346, “WhyG1063, whatG5101 evilG2556 has He doneG4160?” But they kept shoutingG2896 allG4057 the moreG4057, sayingG3004, “3CrucifyG4717 Him!”
24When PilateG4091 sawG3708 that he was accomplishingG5623 nothingG3762, but ratherG3123 that 4a riotG2351 was startingG1096, he tookG2983 waterG5204 and 5washedG633 his handsG5495 in frontG2713 of the crowdG3793, sayingG3004, “I amG1510 innocentG121 of 6thisG3778 Man’sG3778 bloodG129; 7seeG3708 to that yourselvesG4771.” 25And allG3956 the peopleG2992 saidG3004, “8His bloodG129 shall be on us and on our childrenG5043!” 26ThenG5119 he releasedG630 BarabbasG912 9for them; but after having JesusG2424 10scourgedG5417, he handedG3860 Him over to be crucifiedG4717.
2711ThenG5119 the soldiersG4757 of the governorG2232 tookG3880 JesusG2424 into 12the 13PraetoriumG4232 and gatheredG4863 the wholeG3650 Roman 1415cohortG4686 aroundG1909 Him. 28They strippedG1562 Him and 16putG4060 a scarletG2847 robeG5511 on Him. 2917And after twistingG4120 together a crownG4735 of thornsG173, they putG2007 it on His headG2776, and a 18reedG2563 in His rightG1188 handG1188; and they kneltG1120 downG1120 beforeG1715 Him and mockedG1702 Him, sayingG3004, “19HailG5463, KingG935 of the JewsG2453!” 3020They spatG1716 on Him, and tookG2983 the reedG2563 and began to beatG5180 Him on the headG2776. 3121AfterG3753 they had mockedG1702 Him, they tookG1562 the scarlet robeG5511 offG1562 Him and putG1746 His own garmentsG2440 back on Him, and ledG520 Him awayG520 to crucifyG4717 Him.
