Genesis 34:20-31
20So HamorH2544 and his sonH1121 ShechemH7927 cameH935 to the 1gateH8179 of their cityH5892 and spokeH1696 to the menH376 of their cityH5892, sayingH559, 21“TheseH428 menH376 are 2friendlyH8003 with us; therefore let them 3liveH3427 in the landH776 and tradeH5503 in it, for beholdH2009, the landH776 is 4largeH7342H3027 enoughH3027 for them. Let us takeH3947 their daughtersH1323 5in marriageH802, and giveH5414 our daughtersH1323 to them. 22OnlyH389 on thisH2088 condition will the menH376 consentH225 to us to 6liveH3427 with us, to becomeH1961 oneH259 peopleH5971: that everyH3605 maleH2145 among us be circumcisedH4135 as they are circumcisedH4135. 23Will not their livestockH4735 and their propertyH7075 and allH3605 their animalsH929 be ours? OnlyH389 let us consentH225 to them, and they will 7liveH3427 with us.” 248AllH3605 who wentH3318 out of the gateH8179 of his cityH5892 listenedH8085 to HamorH2544 and to his sonH1121 ShechemH7927, and everyH3605 maleH2145 was circumcisedH4135, allH3605 who wentH3318 out of the gateH8179 of his cityH5892.
25Now it cameH1961 about on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, when they were in painH3510, that twoH8147 of Jacob’sH3290 sonsH1121, 9SimeonH8095 and LeviH3878, Dinah’sH1783 brothersH251, eachH376 tookH3947 his swordH2719 and cameH935 upon the cityH5892 unawaresH983, and killedH2026 everyH3605 maleH2145. 26They killedH2026 HamorH2544 and his sonH1121 ShechemH7927 with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719, and tookH3947 DinahH1783 from Shechem’sH7927 houseH1004, and wentH3318 forthH3318. 27Jacob’sH3290 sonsH1121 cameH935 upon the slainH2491 and lootedH962 the cityH5892, becauseH834 they had defiledH2930 their sisterH269. 28They tookH3947 their flocksH6629 and their herdsH1241 and their donkeysH2543, and that whichH834 was in the cityH5892 and that whichH834 was in the fieldH7704; 29and they capturedH7617 and lootedH962 allH3605 their wealthH2428 and allH3605 their littleH2945 onesH2945 and their wivesH802, even allH3605 that was in the housesH1004. 30Then JacobH3290 saidH559 to SimeonH8095 and LeviH3878, “You have 10broughtH5916 troubleH5916 on me by 11makingH887 me odiousH887 among the inhabitantsH3427 of the landH776, among 12the CanaanitesH3669 and the PerizzitesH6522; and 1314my menH4962 being fewH4962 in numberH4557, they will gatherH622 together againstH5921 me and 15attackH5221 me and I will be destroyedH8045, I and my householdH1004.” 31But they saidH559, “Should he 16treatH6213 our sisterH269 as a harlotH2181?”
