10JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611and saidλέγωνlegōnG3004to her,“IfεἰeiG1487you knewG3609the giftδωρεὰνdōreanG1431of GodθεοῦtheouG2316,and whoτίςtisG5101it is who saysG3004to you, ‘GiveδόςdosG1325Me a drinkπεῖν,peinG4095,’you would have askedᾔτησαςētēsasG154Him, and He would have givenἔδωκενedōkenG1325youlivingζῶν.zōnG2198waterὕδωρhudōrG5204.”

11She saidλέγειlegeiG3004to Him, “Sirκύριε,kurieG2962,You haveἔχεις,echeisG2192nothingοὔτεouteG3777to drawἄντλημαantlēmaG502with and the wellφρέαρphrearG5421is deepβαθύ·bathuG901;whereπόθενpothenG4159thenοὖνounG3767do You getἔχειςecheisG2192thatlivingζῶν;zōnG2198water?

12You are not greaterμείζωνmeizōnG3173than our fatherπατρὸςpatrosG3962JacobἸακώβ,IakōbG2384,are You, whoὃςhosG3739gaveἔδωκενedōkenG1325us the wellφρέαρ,phrearG5421,and drankἔπιενepienG4095of it himselfG846and his sonsυἱοὶhuioiG5207and his cattleθρέμματαthremmataG2353?”

13JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611and saidG3004to her,“EveryoneπᾶςpasG3956who drinksπίνωνpinōnG4095of thisτούτουtoutouG3778waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204will thirstδιψήσειdipsēseiG1372againπάλιν.palinG3825;

14but whoeverἂνanG3739 G302drinksπίῃpiēG4095of the waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204that I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325himshall neverοὐ μὴou mēG3756 G3361thirstδιψήσειdipsēseiG1372;but the waterὕδωρhudōrG5204that I will giveδώσωdōsōG1325him will becomeγενήσεταιgenēsetaiG1096in him a wellπηγὴpēgēG4077of waterὕδατοςhudatosG5204springingἁλλομένουhallomenouG242up toeternalαἰώνιον.¶aiōnionG166lifeζωὴνzōēnG2222.”

15The womanγυνή·gunēG1135saidΛέγειLegeiG3004to Him, “Sirκύριε,kurieG2962,giveδόςdosG1325me thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778waterὕδωρhudōrG5204,soἵναinaG2443I will not be thirstyδιψῶdipsōG1372norμηδὲmēdeG3366comeδιέρχωμαιdierchōmaiG1330all the way hereἐνθάδεenthadeG1759to drawἀντλεῖν.antleinG501.”

16He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to her,“GoὕπαγεhupageG5217,callφώνησονphōnēsonG5455your husbandἄνδραandraG435and comeἐλθὲeltheG2064hereἐνθάδε.enthadeG1759.”

17The womanγυνὴgunēG1135answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611and saidΛέγειLegeiG3004, “I haveἔχωechōG2192noοὐκoukG3756husbandἄνδρα.¶andraG435.”JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424saidG3004to her,“You have correctlyκαλῶςkalōsG2573saidG3004, ‘I haveἔχω·echōG2192noοὐκoukG3756husbandἄνδραandraG435’;

18for you haveG2192hadG2192fiveπέντεpenteG4002husbandsἄνδραςandrasG435,and the one whomὃνhonG3739you nowνῦνnunG3568haveG2192is not your husbandἀνήρ·anērG435;thisτοῦτοtoutoG3778you have saidG3004trulyἀληθὲςalēthesG227.”

19The womanγυνή·gunēG1135saidΛέγειLegeiG3004to Him, “Sirκύριε,kurieG2962,I perceiveθεωρῶtheōrōG2334that You area prophetπροφήτηςprophētēsG4396.

20Our fathersπατέρεςpateresG3962worshipedπροσεκύνησαν,prosekunēsanG4352inthisτούτῳtoutōG3778mountainὄρειoreiG3735, and you peoplesayλέγετεlegeteG3004thatin JerusalemἹεροσολύμοιςHi'erosolumoisG2414is the placeτόποςtoposG5117whereὅπουhopouG3699men oughtδεῖ.¶deiG1163to worshipπροσκυνεῖνproskuneinG4352.”
