1And AhabH256 toldH5046 JezebelH348 all that ElijahH452 had done, and in detail how he had slainH2026 all the prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719. 2And JezebelH348 sentH7971 a messengerH4397 to ElijahH452 sayingH559, So do the 1godsH430 [to me], and more also, if I makeH7760 not thy lifeH5315 as the lifeH5315 of oneH259 of them by to-morrow about this timeH6256! 3And whenH834 he sawH7200 [that], he aroseH6965, and wentH935 for his lifeH5315, and cameH935 to Beer-sheba, which belongs to JudahH3063, and left his servantH5288 there. 4And he himself wentH1980 a day's journeyH1870 into the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 and satH3427 downH3427 under a certain broom-bush, and requested for himself that he might dieH4191; and saidH559, It is enoughH7227: nowH6258, Jehovah, takeH3947 my lifeH5315; for I am not betterH2896 than my fathersH1. 5And he layH7901 downH7901 and slept under the broom-bush. And behold, an angelH4397 touchedH5060 him, and saidH559 to him, AriseH6965, eatH398! 6And he lookedH5027, and behold, at his headH4763 was a cakeH5692, baked on hot stones, and a cruse of waterH4325. And he ateH398 and drankH8354, and layH7901 downH7901 again. 7And the angelH4397 of Jehovah came again the secondH8145 timeH8145, and touchedH5060 him, and saidH559, AriseH6965, eatH398; for the journeyH1870 is too greatH7227 for thee. 8And he aroseH6965, and ateH398 and drankH8354, and went in the strengthH3581 of that food fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915 to HorebH2722 the mount of 2GodH430. 9And there he wentH935 into a caveH4631, and lodged there. And behold, the wordH1697 of Jehovah [cameH935] to him, and he saidH559 to him, What doest thou hereH6311, ElijahH452? 10And he saidH559, I have been very jealousH7065 for Jehovah the 3GodH430 of hostsH6635; for the children of IsraelH3478 have forsaken thy covenantH1285, thrown downH2040 thine altarsH4196, and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719; and I am leftH3498, I aloneH905, and they seekH1245 my lifeH5315, to takeH3947 it awayH3947. 11And he saidH559, GoH3318 forthH3318, and standH5975 upon the mount before Jehovah. And behold, Jehovah passedH5674 by, and a greatH1419 and strongH2389 windH7307 rent the mountainsH2022, and brokeH7665 in pieces the rocksH5553 before Jehovah: Jehovah was not in the windH7307. And after the windH7307, an earthquakeH7494: Jehovah was not in the earthquakeH7494. 12And after the earthquakeH7494, a fireH784: Jehovah was not in the fireH784. And after the fireH784, a soft gentle voiceH6963. 13And it came to pass, when ElijahH452 heardH8085 it, that he wrapped his faceH6440 in his mantle, and wentH3318 out, and stoodH5975 in the entranceH6607 of the caveH4631. And behold, a voiceH6963 [came] to him and saidH559, What doest thou hereH6311, ElijahH452? 14And he saidH559, I have been very jealousH7065 for Jehovah the 4GodH430 of hostsH6635; for the children of IsraelH3478 have forsaken thy covenantH1285, thrown downH2040 thine altarsH4196, and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719; and I am leftH3498, I aloneH905, and they seekH1245 my lifeH5315, to takeH3947 it awayH3947. 15And Jehovah saidH559 to him, GoH935, returnH7725 on thy wayH1870 to the wildernessH4057 of DamascusH1834; and when thou comest, anointH4886 HazaelH2371 kingH4428 over Syria; 16and JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250 shalt thou anointH4886 kingH4428 over IsraelH3478; and ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202 of Abel-meholahH65 shalt thou anointH4886 prophetH5030 in thy stead. 17And it shall come to pass, [that] him that escapeth the swordH2719 of HazaelH2371 shall JehuH3058 slay; and him that escapeth the swordH2719 of JehuH3058 shall ElishaH477 slay. 18Yet I have leftH7604 [myself] sevenH7651 thousandH505 in IsraelH3478, all the knees that have not bowedH3766 unto BaalH1168, and every mouthH6310 that hath not kissedH5401 him. 19And he departed thence, and foundH4672 ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202, who was ploughing [with] twelve yokes before him, and he with the twelfth; and ElijahH452 went over to him, and castH7993 his mantle on him. 20And he leftH5800 the oxenH1241, and ranH7323 after ElijahH452, and saidH559, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my fatherH1 and my motherH517, and I will follow thee. And he saidH559 to him, GoH7725 backH7725 again; for what have I done to thee? 21And he returnedH7725 backH7725 from him, and tookH3947 the yoke of oxenH1241, and killed them, and boiledH1310 their fleshH1320 with the implements of the oxenH1241, and gaveH5414 to the peopleH5971, and they ateH398. And he aroseH6965 and wentH7725 after ElijahH452, and ministered to him.
