1 Kings 6
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass in the fourH702 hundredH3967 and eightieth yearH8141 after the children of IsraelH3478 wereH1961 come out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 of Solomon's reignH4427 over IsraelH3478, in the monthH2320 Zif, which is the secondH8145 monthH2320, that he began to buildH1129 the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 2And the houseH1004 that kingH4428 SolomonH8010 builtH1129 for Jehovah was sixtyH8346 cubitsH520 in lengthH753, and twentyH6242 in breadthH7341, and thirtyH7970 cubitsH520 in heightH6967. 3And the porchH197, in front of the temple of the houseH1004, was twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in lengthH753, in front of the houseH1004 broadways, [and] tenH6235 cubitsH520 was its breadthH7341, in front of the houseH1004. 4And for the houseH1004 he madeH6213 closed windowsH2474 with fixed lattices. 5And against the wallH7023 of the houseH1004 he builtH1129 floors roundH5439 about, [against] the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004, roundH5439 about the temple and the oracle; and he madeH6213 side-chambers roundH5439 about. 6The lowest floor was fiveH2568 cubitsH520 broad, and the middleH8484 one was sixH8337 cubitsH520 broad, and the thirdH7992 was sevenH7651 cubitsH520 broad; for in the [thickness of the wallH7023 of] the houseH1004 he madeH5414 resets roundH5439 about outside, that nothing should be fastened in the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004. 7And the houseH1004, when it was being builtH1129, was builtH1129 of stoneH68 entirely made ready before it was brought thither; so that there was neither hammerH4717 nor axeH1631 nor any tool of ironH1270 heardH8085 in the houseH1004 while it was being builtH1129. 8The entranceH6607 to the side-chambers of the middleH8484 [floor] was in the rightH3233 sideH3802 of the houseH1004; and they wentH5927 up by winding stairs into the middleH8484 [floor], and out of the middleH8484 into the thirdH7992. 9And he builtH1129 the houseH1004, and finishedH3615 it; and coveredH5603 the houseH1004 with beams and boards of cedar. 10And he builtH1129 the floors against all the houseH1004, fiveH2568 cubitsH520 high; and they heldH270 to the houseH1004 by the timbers of cedarH730. 11And the wordH1697 of Jehovah came to SolomonH8010 sayingH559, 12As to this houseH1004 which thou art buildingH1129, if thou wilt walk in my statutesH2708, and practise mine ordinancesH4941, and keepH8104 all my commandmentsH4687 to walk in them, then will I perform my wordH1697 as to thee which I spokeH1696 unto DavidH1732 thy fatherH1; 13and I will dwellH7931 among the children of IsraelH3478, and will not forsakeH5800 my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. 14And SolomonH8010 builtH1129 the houseH1004 and finishedH3615 it. 15And he builtH1129 the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 within with boardsH6763 of cedarH730, from the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 to the wallsH7023 of the roof; he overlaidH6823 [them] on the insideH1004 with woodH6086, and overlaidH6823 the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 with boardsH6763 of cypressH1265. 16And he builtH1129 twentyH6242 cubitsH520 of the innermostH3411 partH3411 of the houseH1004, both floorH7172 and wallsH7023, with boardsH6763 of cedarH730; and he builtH1129 [them] for it within, to [be] the oracle, the most holyH6944 placeH6944. 17And the houseH1004, that is, the temple before it, wasH1961 fortyH705 cubitsH520 [long]. 18And the cedarH730 of the houseH1004 within was carved with colocynths and half-open flowers: all was cedarH730; there was no stoneH68 seenH7200. 19And he preparedH3559 the oracle in the midstH8432 of the houseH1004 within, to setH5414 there the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah. 20And the oracle within was twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in lengthH753, and twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in breadthH7341, and twentyH6242 cubitsH520 in the heightH6967 thereof; and he overlaidH6823 it with pureH5462 goldH2091; and he overlaidH6823 the cedar-wood altarH4196 — 21and SolomonH8010 overlaidH6823 the houseH1004 within with pureH5462 goldH2091, and shutH5462 off the oracle in front with chains of goldH2091, and overlaidH6823 it with goldH2091. 22And the whole houseH1004 he overlaidH6823 with goldH2091, the whole houseH1004 entirely; also the whole altarH4196 that was by the oracle he overlaidH6823 with goldH2091. 23And he madeH6213 in the oracle twoH8147 cherubimH3742 of olive-wood, tenH6235 cubitsH520 high; 24and oneH259 wingH3671 of the cherubH3742 was fiveH2568 cubitsH520, and fiveH2568 cubitsH520 the other wingH3671 of the cherubH3742, tenH6235 cubitsH520 from the endH7098 of oneH259 wingH3671 to the endH7098 of the other wingH3671; 25and the other cherubH3742 was tenH6235 cubitsH520: both the cherubimH3742 were of oneH259 measure and oneH259 form. 26The heightH6967 of the oneH259 cherubH3742 was tenH6235 cubitsH520, and soH3651 of the other cherubH3742. 27And he setH5414 the cherubimH3742 in the midstH8432 of the innerH6442 houseH1004; and the wingsH3671 of the cherubimH3742 were stretched forth, so that the wingH3671 of the oneH259 touchedH5060 the wallH7023, and the wingH3671 of the other cherubH3742 touchedH5060 the other wallH7023; and their wingsH3671 touchedH5060, wingH3671 to wingH3671, in the midstH8432 of the houseH1004. 28And he overlaidH6823 the cherubimH3742 with goldH2091. 29And he carved all the wallsH7023 of the houseH1004 roundH4524 about with carved sculptures of cherubimH3742, and palm-trees, and half-open flowers, within and without. 30And the floorH7172 of the houseH1004 he overlaidH6823 with goldH2091, within and without. 31And for the entranceH6607 of the oracle he madeH6213 doorsH1817 of olive-wood: the lintel [and] side posts were the fifthH2549 partH2549 [of the breadth of the house]. 32The twoH8147 doorsH1817 were of olive-wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubimH3742, and palm-trees and half-open flowers, and overlaidH6823 them with goldH2091, and spread goldH2091 on the cherubimH3742 and on the palm-trees. 33And he also madeH6213 for the doorwayH6607 of the templeH1964 posts of olive-wood, of the fourthH7243 part [of the breadth of the house]. 34And the twoH8147 folding-doors were of cypress-wood: the twoH8147 leaves of the oneH259 doorH1817 were folding, and the twoH8147 leaves of the other doorH1817 were folding. 35And he carved on them cherubimH3742, and palm-trees, and half-open flowers; and overlaidH6823 them with goldH2091 fitted on the carved work. 36And he builtH1129 the innerH6442 courtH2691 of threeH7969 rowsH2905 of hewnH1496 stoneH1496, and a rowH2905 of cedar-beams. 37In the fourthH7243 yearH8141 was the foundation of the houseH1004 of Jehovah laid, in the monthH3391 Zif; 38and in the eleventh yearH8141, in the monthH2320 Bul, which is the eighthH8066 monthH2320, was the houseH1004 finishedH3615 in all its parts, and according to all the fashion of it. So he was sevenH7651 yearsH8141 in buildingH1129 it.
