Darby Bible
1ThenH227 SolomonH8010 assembledH6950 the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478, and all the headsH7218 of the tribesH4294, the princesH5387 of the fathersH1 of the children of IsraelH3478, unto kingH4428 SolomonH8010 in JerusalemH3389, to bringH5927 up the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah out of the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, which is ZionH6726. 2And all the menH376 of IsraelH3478 assembledH6950 themselves to kingH4428 SolomonH8010 at the feastH2282 in the monthH2320 Ethanim, that is, the seventhH7637 monthH2320. 3And all the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478 cameH935; and the priestsH3548 tookH5375 up the arkH727. 4And they broughtH5927 up the arkH727 of Jehovah, and the tentH168 of meetingH4150, and all the holyH6944 vesselsH3627 that were in the tentH168: the priestsH3548 and the LevitesH3881 broughtH5927 them up. 5And kingH4428 SolomonH8010, and all the assemblyH5712 of IsraelH3478 that were assembled to him, [who were] with him before the arkH727, sacrificedH2076 sheepH6629 and oxenH1241, which could not be countedH5608 nor numbered for multitudeH7230. 6And the priestsH3548 broughtH935 in the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah to its placeH4725, into the oracle of the houseH1004, into the most holyH6944 placeH4725, under the wingsH3671 of the cherubimH3742; 7for the cherubimH3742 stretched forth [their] wingsH3671 over the placeH4725 of the arkH727, and the cherubimH3742 covered the arkH727 and its staves above. 8And the staves wereH1961 long, so that the ends of the staves wereH1961 seenH7200 from the holyH6944 placeH6944 before the oracle, but they wereH1961 not seenH7200 without. And there they are to this dayH3117. 9There was nothingH369 in the arkH727 save the twoH8147 tables of stoneH68 which MosesH4872 placed there at HorebH2722, whenH834 Jehovah madeH3772 [a covenant] with the children of IsraelH3478, whenH834 they cameH3318 out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 10And it came to pass when the priestsH3548 wereH1961 come out of the holyH6944 placeH6944, that the cloudH6051 filledH4390 the houseH1004 of Jehovah, 11and the priestsH3548 could not standH5975 to do their service because of the cloudH6051; for the gloryH3519 of Jehovah had filledH4390 the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 12ThenH227 saidH559 SolomonH8010: Jehovah saidH559 that he would dwellH7931 in the thickH6205 darknessH6205. 13I have indeed builtH1129 a houseH1004 of habitation for thee, a settled placeH4349 for thee to abide in for everH5769. 14And the kingH4428 turnedH5437 his faceH6440, and blessedH1288 the whole congregation of IsraelH3478; and the whole congregation of IsraelH3478 stoodH5975. 15And he saidH559: BlessedH1288 be Jehovah the 1GodH430 of IsraelH3478, who spokeH1696 with his mouthH6310 unto DavidH1732 my fatherH1, and hath with his handH3027 fulfilled it, sayingH559, 16Since the dayH3117 that I broughtH3318 forthH3318 my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 out of EgyptH4714, I choseH977 no cityH5892 out of all the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 in, that my nameH8034 might beH1961 there; but I have chosenH977 DavidH1732 to beH1961 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478. 17And it was in the heartH3824 of DavidH1732 my fatherH1 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 unto the nameH8034 of Jehovah the 2GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 18But Jehovah saidH559 to DavidH1732 my fatherH1, Whereas it was in thy heartH3824 to buildH1129 a houseH1004 unto my nameH8034, thou didst wellH2895 that it was in thy heartH3824; 19nevertheless thou shalt not buildH1129 the houseH1004; but thy sonH1121 that shall comeH3318 forthH3318 out of thy loinsH2504, he shall buildH1129 the houseH1004 unto my nameH8034. 20And Jehovah has performed his wordH1697 which he spokeH1696; and I am risenH6965 up in the room of DavidH1732 my fatherH1, and sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of IsraelH3478, as Jehovah promised, and I have builtH1129 the houseH1004 unto the nameH8034 of Jehovah the 3GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 21And I have setH7760 there a placeH4725 for the arkH727, wherein is the covenantH1285 of Jehovah, which he madeH3772 with our fathersH1 whenH834 he broughtH3318 them out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 22And SolomonH8010 stoodH5975 before the altarH4196 of Jehovah in the presenceH6440 of the whole congregation of IsraelH3478, and spreadH6566 forth his handsH3709 toward the heavensH8064. 23And he saidH559, Jehovah, 4GodH430 of IsraelH3478! there is no 5GodH430 like thee, in the heavensH8064 above, or on the earthH776 beneath, who keepest covenantH1285 and mercy with thy servantsH5650 that walkH1980 before thee with all their heartH3820; 24who hast keptH8104 with thy servantH5650 DavidH1732 my fatherH1 that which thou didst promise him; thou spokest with thy mouthH6310, and hast fulfilled [it] with thy handH3027, as at this dayH3117. 25And nowH6258, Jehovah, 6GodH430 of IsraelH3478, keepH8104 with thy servantH5650 DavidH1732 my fatherH1 that which thou hast promised him, sayingH559, There shall not fail thee a manH376 in my sight to sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of IsraelH3478, if onlyH7535 thy sonsH1121 takeH8104 heedH8104 to their wayH1870, to walkH1980 before me as thou hast walkedH1980 before me. 26And nowH6258, O 7GodH430 of IsraelH3478, let thy wordsH1697, I pray thee, be verified, which thou hast spokenH1696 unto thy servantH5650 DavidH1732 my fatherH1. 27But will 8GodH430 indeed dwellH3427 on the earthH776? Behold, the heavensH8064, and the heavenH8064 of heavensH8064, cannot containH3557 thee; how much less this houseH1004 which I have builtH1129! 28Yet have respect unto the prayerH8605 of thy servantH5650, and to his supplicationH8467, Jehovah, my 9GodH430, to hearken unto the cryH7440 and to the prayerH8605 which thy servantH5650 prayeth before thee this dayH3117; 29that thine eyesH5869 may beH1961 openH6605 upon this houseH1004 nightH3915 and dayH3117, upon the placeH4725 of which thou hast saidH559, My nameH8034 shall beH1961 there: to hearken unto the prayerH8605 which thy servantH5650 prayeth toward this placeH4725. 30And hearken unto the supplicationH8467 of thy servantH5650, and of thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, whenH834 they shall prayH6419 toward this placeH4725, and hearH8085 thou in thy dwelling-place, in the heavensH8064, and whenH834 thou hearest, forgiveH5545. 31If a manH376 have sinnedH2398 against his neighbour, and an oathH423 be laid upon him to adjure him, and the oathH423 comeH935 before thine altarH4196 in this houseH1004; 32then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064, and do, and judgeH8199 thy servantsH5650, condemningH7561 the wickedH7563, to bring his wayH1870 upon his own headH7218; and justifyingH6663 the righteousH6662, givingH5414 him according to his righteousnessH6666. 33WhenH834 thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 are put to the worse before the enemyH341, because they have sinnedH2398 against thee, and shall turnH7725 again to thee, and confessH3034 thy nameH8034, and prayH6419, and make supplication unto thee in this houseH1004; 34then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064, and forgiveH5545 the sinH2403 of thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, and bringH7725 them again unto the landH127 that thou gavest unto their fathersH1. 35When the heavensH8064 are shutH6113 up, and there is no rainH4306, because they have sinnedH2398 against thee; if they prayH6419 toward this placeH4725, and confessH3034 thy nameH8034, and turnH7725 from their sinH2398, because thou hast afflicted them; 36then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064, and forgiveH5545 the sinH2403 of thy servantsH5650, and of thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, when thou teachest them the goodH2896 wayH1870 wherein they should walk; and giveH5414 rainH4306 upon thy landH776, which thou hast givenH5414 to thy peopleH5971 for an inheritanceH5159. 37If there beH1961 famineH7458 in the landH776, if there beH1961 pestilenceH1698, if there beH1961 blightH7711, mildewH3420, locustH697, caterpillar; if their enemyH341 besiege them in the landH776 of their gatesH8179; whatever plagueH1698, whatever sicknessH4245 there beH1961: 38what prayerH8605, what supplicationH8467 soever beH1961 madeH3045 by any manH376, of all thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, when they shall knowH3045 every manH376 the plagueH5061 of his own heartH3824, and shall spreadH6566 forth his handsH3709 toward this houseH1004; 39then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064, the settled placeH4349 of thy dwellingH3427, and forgiveH5545, and do, and render unto every manH376 according to all his waysH1870, whose heartH3824 thou knowest (for thou, thou onlyH905, knowest the heartsH3824 of all the children of menH376), 40that they may fearH3372 thee all the daysH3117 that they live upon the landH127 which thou gavest unto our fathersH1. 41And as to the stranger alsoH1571, who is not of thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, but cometh out of a farH7350 country for thy name's sakeH4616 42(for they shall hearH8085 of thy greatH1419 nameH8034, and of thy mightyH2389 handH3027, and of thy stretched-outH5186 armH2220); when he shall comeH935 and prayH6419 toward this houseH1004, 43hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064 thy dwelling-place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; in order that all peoplesH5971 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 thy nameH8034, [and] that they may fearH3372 thee as do thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and that they may knowH3045 that this houseH1004 which I have builtH1129 is calledH7121 by thy nameH8034. 44If thy peopleH5971 goH3318 out to battleH4421 against their enemyH341, by the wayH1870 that thou shalt sendH7971 them, and they prayH6419 to Jehovah toward the cityH5892 that thou hast chosenH977, and the houseH1004 that I have builtH1129 unto thy nameH8034; 45then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064 their prayerH8605 and their supplicationH8467, and maintain their rightH4941. 46If they have sinnedH2398 against thee, (for there is no manH120 that sinneth not,) and thou be angryH599 with them, and giveH5414 them up to the enemyH341, and they have carried them away captivesH7617 unto the enemy's landH776, farH7350 or near; 47and if they shall take it to heartH3820 in the landH776 whither they were carried captiveH7617, and repent, and make supplication unto thee in the landH776 of them that carried them captiveH7617, sayingH559, We have sinnedH2398, and have done iniquity, we have dealt perversely; 48and if they returnH7725 unto thee with all their heartH3824 and with all their soulH5315, in the landH776 of their enemiesH341 who led them awayH7725 captiveH7617, and prayH6419 unto thee toward their landH776 which thou gavest unto their fathersH1, the cityH5892 that thou hast chosenH977, and the houseH1004 that I have builtH1129 unto thy nameH8034; 49then hearH8085 thou in the heavensH8064, the settled placeH4349 of thy dwellingH3427, their prayerH8605 and their supplicationH8467, and maintain their rightH4941; 50and forgiveH5545 thy peopleH5971 their sinH2398 against thee, and all their transgressionsH6588 whereby they have transgressedH6586 against thee, and giveH5414 them to find compassionH7355 with those who carried them captiveH7617, that they may have compassionH7355 on them 51(for they are thy peopleH5971, and thine inheritanceH5159, which thou broughtest forthH3318 out of EgyptH4714, from the midstH8432 of the furnaceH3564 of ironH1270) — 52thine eyesH5869 being openH6605 unto the supplicationH8467 of thy servantH5650, and unto the supplicationH8467 of thy peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, to hearken unto them in all that they callH7121 for unto thee. 53For thou hast separatedH914 them from among all peoplesH5971 of the earthH776, to be thine inheritanceH5159, as thou spokest through MosesH4872 thy servantH5650, when thou broughtest our fathersH1 out of EgyptH4714, O LordH136 Jehovah. 54And it wasH1961 so, that when SolomonH8010 had endedH3615 prayingH6419 all this prayerH8605 and supplicationH8467 to Jehovah, he aroseH6965 from before the altarH4196 of Jehovah, from kneelingH3766 on his knees with his handsH3709 spreadH6566 forth to the heavensH8064, 55and he stoodH5975 and blessedH1288 the whole congregation of IsraelH3478 with a loud voiceH6963, sayingH559, 56BlessedH1288 be Jehovah, who has givenH5414 restH4496 to his peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, according to all that he promised: there has not failed oneH259 wordH1697 of all his goodH2896 promises which he spokeH1696 through MosesH4872 his servantH5650! 57Jehovah our 10GodH430 beH1961 with us, as he wasH1961 with our fathersH1; let him not forsake us nor cast us off: 58that he may inclineH5186 our heartsH3824 to him, to walk in all his waysH1870, and to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687 and his statutesH2706 and his ordinancesH4941, which he commandedH6680 our fathersH1. 59And let these my wordsH1697, with which I have madeH6213 supplication before Jehovah, beH1961 nigh to Jehovah our 11GodH430 dayH3117 and nightH3915, that he maintain the rightH4941 of his servantH5650, and the rightH4941 of his peopleH5971 IsraelH3478, as the matterH1697 of each dayH3117 shall require; 60that all peoplesH5971 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 that Jehovah is 12GodH430, that there is none else; 61and that your heartH3824 may beH1961 perfectH8003 with Jehovah our 13GodH430, to walk in his statutesH2706 and to keepH8104 his commandmentsH4687, as at this dayH3117. 62And the kingH4428, and all IsraelH3478 with him, offeredH2076 sacrificesH2077 before Jehovah. 63And SolomonH8010 sacrificedH2076 a sacrificeH2077 of peace-offerings, which he sacrificedH2076 to Jehovah, twenty-two thousandH505 oxenH1241 and a hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 sheepH6629. So the kingH4428 and all the children of IsraelH3478 dedicated the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 64The same dayH3117 the kingH4428 hallowed the middleH8432 of the courtH2691 that was before the houseH1004 of Jehovah; for there he offered the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings, because the brazen altarH4196 that was before Jehovah was too smallH6996 to receive the burnt-offerings, and the oblations, and the fatH2459 of the peace-offerings. 65And at that timeH6256 SolomonH8010 held the feastH2282, and all IsraelH3478 with him, a greatH1419 congregation, from the entrance of HamathH2574 unto the torrent of EgyptH4714, before Jehovah our 14GodH430, sevenH7651 daysH3117 and sevenH7651 daysH3117, fourteen daysH3117. 66On the eighthH8066 dayH3117 he sentH7971 the peopleH5971 awayH7971; and they blessedH1288 the kingH4428, and went to their tentsH168, joyfulH8056 and glad of heartH3820 for all the goodness that Jehovah had done to DavidH1732 his servantH5650, and to IsraelH3478 his peopleH5971.
