1 Kings 19
Revised Version 1895
1And AhabH256 toldH5046 JezebelH348 allH3605 that ElijahH452 had doneH6213, and withal howH834 he had slainH2026 allH3605 the prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719. 2Then JezebelH348 sentH7971 a messengerH4397 unto ElijahH452, sayingH559, SoH6213 letH7971 the godsH430 doH6213 to meH413, and moreH3254 also, ifH3588 I makeH7760 notH3254 thy lifeH5315 as the lifeH5315 of one of them by tomorrowH4279 aboutH413 this time. 3And when he sawH7200 that, he aroseH6965, and wentH935 for his lifeH5315, and cameH935 to Beer-sheba, whichH834 belongeth to JudahH3063, and leftH3240 his servantH5288 there. 4But he himselfH1931 wentH1980 a day’sH3117 journeyH1870 intoH935 the wildernessH4057, and cameH935 and satH3427 downH3427 underH8478 a juniperH7574 treeH7574: and he requestedH7592 for himselfH1931 that he might dieH4191; and saidH559, It is enoughH7227; nowH6258, O LORDH3068, takeH3947 awayH1980 my lifeH5315; for I am notH3808 betterH2896 thanH3808 my fathersH1. 5And he layH7901 downH7901 and sleptH7901 underH8478 a juniperH7574 treeH7574; and, beholdH2009, an angelH4397 touchedH5060 him, and saidH559 unto him, AriseH6965 and eatH398. 6And he lookedH5027, and, beholdH2009, there was at his headH4763 a cakeH5692 baken on the coals, and a cruse of waterH4325. And he did eatH398 and drinkH8354, and laidH7901 him downH7901 againH7725. 7And the angelH4397 of the LORDH3068 cameH5060 againH7725 the secondH8145 time, and touchedH5060 him, and saidH559, AriseH6965 and eatH398; becauseH3588 the journeyH1870 is tooH4480 greatH7227 for thee. 8And he aroseH6965, and didH3117 eatH398 and drinkH8354, and wentH6965 in the strengthH3581 of that meat fortyH705 daysH3117 and fortyH705 nightsH3915 unto HorebH2722 the mountH2022 of GodH430. 9And he cameH935 thither unto a caveH4631, and lodged there; and, beholdH2009, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH935 to him, and he saidH559 unto him, WhatH4100 doest thou hereH6311, ElijahH452? 10And he saidH559, I have been veryH7065 jealousH7065 for the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of hostsH6635; for the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 have forsaken thy covenantH1285, thrownH2040 downH2040 thine altarsH4196, and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719: and I, evenH3588 I onlyH905, am leftH3498; and they seekH1245 my lifeH5315, to takeH3947 it awayH3947. 11And he saidH559, GoH3318 forthH3318, and standH5975 uponH7307 the mountH2022 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. And, beholdH2009, the LORDH3068 passedH5674 by, and a greatH1419 and strongH2389 windH7307 rent the mountainsH2022, and brake in piecesH7665 the rocksH5553 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068; but the LORDH3068 was notH3808 in the windH7307: and afterH310 the windH7307 an earthquakeH7494; but the LORDH3068 was notH3808 in the earthquakeH7494: 12and afterH310 the earthquakeH7494 a fireH784; but the LORDH3068 was notH3808 in the fireH784: and afterH310 the fireH784 a stillH1827 small voiceH6963. 13And it was soH1961, when ElijahH452 heardH8085 it, that he wrappedH3874 his faceH6440 in his mantleH155, and wentH3318 outH3318, and stoodH5975 in the entering in of the caveH4631. And, beholdH2009, there cameH1961 a voiceH6963 unto him, and saidH559, WhatH4100 doest thou hereH6311, ElijahH452? 14And he saidH559, I have been veryH7065 jealousH7065 for the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of hostsH6635; for the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 have forsaken thy covenantH1285, thrownH2040 downH2040 thine altarsH4196, and slainH2026 thy prophetsH5030 with the swordH2719; and I, evenH3588 I onlyH905, am leftH3498; and they seekH1245 my lifeH5315, to takeH3947 it awayH3947. 15And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto him, GoH935 returnH7725 on thy wayH1870 to the wildernessH4057 of DamascusH1834: and when thou comest, thou shalt anointH4886 HazaelH2371 to be kingH4428 over SyriaH758: 16and JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250 shalt thou anointH4886 to be kingH4428 over IsraelH3478: and ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202 of Abel-meholahH65 shalt thou anointH4886 to be prophetH5030 in thy room. 17And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, that him that escapeth from the swordH2719 of HazaelH2371 shall JehuH3058 slayH4191: and him that escapeth from the swordH2719 of JehuH3058 shall ElishaH477 slayH4191; 18Yet will I leaveH7604 meH3808 sevenH7651 thousandH505 in IsraelH3478, allH3605 the kneesH1290 whichH834 have notH3808 bowedH3766 unto BaalH1168, and everyH3605 mouthH6310 whichH834 hath notH3808 kissedH5401 him. 19SoH5674 he departed thence, and foundH4672 ElishaH477, the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202, who was plowingH2790, with twelveH6240 yokeH6776 of oxen beforeH6440 him, and he with the twelfth: and ElijahH452 passedH5674 over unto him, and castH7993 his mantleH155 uponH413 him. 20And he leftH5800 the oxenH1241, and ranH7323 afterH310 ElijahH452, and saidH559, LetH4994 meH4994, I prayH4994 thee, kiss my fatherH1 and my motherH517, and then I will followH310 thee. And he saidH559 unto him, GoH7725 backH7725 againH7725; for whatH4100 have I doneH6213 to thee? 21And he returnedH7725 from followingH310 him, and tookH3947 the yokeH6776 of oxenH1241, and slew them, and boiledH1310 their fleshH1320 with the instrumentsH3627 of the oxenH1241, and gaveH5414 unto the peopleH5971, and they did eatH398. Then he aroseH6965, and wentH7725 afterH310 ElijahH452, and ministeredH8334 unto him.
