2After they had set outוַיִּסְע֣וּvai.yis.'UH5265from Rephidimמֵרְפִידִ֗יםme.re.fi.DimH7508,they enteredוַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙vai.ya.Vo.'uH935the Wildernessמִדְבַּ֣רmid.BarH4057of Sinaiסִינַ֔יsi.NaiH5514וַֽיַּחֲנ֖וּvai.ya.cha.NuH2583,and Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478campedוַיִּֽחַן־vai.yi.chan-H2583thereשָׁ֥םshamH8033בַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057in front ofנֶ֥גֶדNe.gedH5048the mountainהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022.

3Then Mosesוּמֹשֶׁ֥הu.mo.ShehH4872went upעָלָ֖ה'a.LahH5927toאֶל־'el-H413Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to himאֵלָ֤יו'e.LavH413fromמִן־min-H4480the mountainהָהָ֣רha.HarH2022, “This is whatלֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּ֤הle.Mor kohH3541 H559you are to tellתֹאמַר֙to.MarH559the houseלְבֵ֣יתle.VeitH1004of Jacobיַעֲקֹ֔בya.'a.KoH3290and explainוְתַגֵּ֖ידve.ta.GeidH5046to the sonsלִבְנֵ֥יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478:

4‘Youאַתֶּ֣ם'a.TemH859have seen for yourselvesרְאִיתֶ֔םre.'i.TemH7200whatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I didעָשִׂ֖יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213to Egyptלְמִצְרָ֑יִםle.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,and how I carriedוָאֶשָּׂ֤אva.'e.Sa'H5375אֶתְכֶם֙'et.KhemH853you onעַל־'al-H5921eaglesנְשָׁרִ֔יםne.sha.RimH5404’wingsכַּנְפֵ֣יkan.FeiH3671and broughtוָאָבִ֥אva.'a.Vi'H935youאֶתְכֶ֖ם'et.KhemH853to Myselfאֵלָֽי׃'e.LaiH413.

5Nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258ifאִם־'im-H518you will indeed obeyH8085My voiceבְּקֹלִ֔יbe.ko.LiH6963and keepוּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֖םu.she.mar.TemH8104אֶת־'et-H853My covenantבְּרִיתִ֑יbe.ri.TiH1285,you will beוִהְיִ֨יתֶםvih.Yi.temH1961Mytreasured possessionסְגֻלָּה֙se.gu.LahH5459out of allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605the nationsהָ֣עַמִּ֔יםha.'a.MimH5971—forכִּי־ki-H3588the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776is Mine.

6And unto Meyouוְאַתֶּ֧םve.'a.TemH859shall beתִּהְיוּ־tih.yu-H1961a kingdomמַמְלֶ֥כֶתmam.Le.khetH4467of priestsכֹּהֲנִ֖יםko.ha.NimH3548and a holyקָד֑וֹשׁka.Do.oshH6918nationוְג֣וֹיve.GoyH1471.’Theseאֵ֚לֶּה'E.lehH428are the wordsהַדְּבָרִ֔יםha.de.va.RimH1697thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you are to speakתְּדַבֵּ֖רte.da.BerH1696toאֶל־'el-H413the Israelitesבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478.”

7So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872went backוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935and summonedוַיִּקְרָ֖אvai.yik.Ra'H7121the eldersלְזִקְנֵ֣יle.zik.NeiH2205of the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971and setוַיָּ֣שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760beforeלִפְנֵיהֶ֗םlif.nei.HemH6440themאֵ֚ת'etH853allכָּל־kol-H3605theseהָאֵ֔לֶּהha.'E.lehH428wordsהַדְּבָרִ֣יםha.de.va.RimH1697thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068had commanded himצִוָּ֖הוּtzi.Va.huH6680.

8And allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971answeredוַיַּעֲנ֨וּvai.ya.'a.NuH6030togetherיַחְדָּו֙ וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּyach.Dav vai.Yo.me.RuH3162 H559, “We will doנַעֲשֶׂ֑הna.'a.SehH6213everythingכֹּ֛לkolH3605thatאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has spokenדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696.”So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872broughtוַיָּ֧שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725אֶת־'et-H853theirהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697back toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

9The LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,Iאָנֹכִ֜י'a.no.KhiH595will comeבָּ֣אba'H935toאֵלֶיךָ֮'e.lei.KhaH413you in a denseבְּעַ֣בbe.'AvH5645cloudהֶֽעָנָן֒he.'a.NanH6051,so thatבַּעֲב֞וּרba.'a.VurH5668the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971will hearיִשְׁמַ֤עyish.Ma'H8085when I speakבְּדַבְּרִ֣יbe.da.be.RiH1696with youעִמָּ֔ךְ'i.MakhH5973,andוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571they will alwaysלְעוֹלָ֑םle.'o.LamH5769put their trustיַאֲמִ֣ינוּya.'a.Mi.nuH539in you.”And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872אֶת־'et-H853relayedוַיַּגֵּ֥דvai.ya.GedH5046toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068whatthe peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971had saidדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697.

10Then the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872, “Goאֶל־ לֵ֣ךְ'el- lekhH1980 H413toאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971and consecrate themוְקִדַּשְׁתָּ֥םve.ki.dash.TamH6942todayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117and tomorrowוּמָחָ֑רu.ma.CharH4279.They must washוְכִבְּס֖וּve.khi.be.SuH3526their clothesשִׂמְלֹתָֽם׃sim.lo.TamH8071

11and beוְהָי֥וּve.ha.YuH1961preparedנְכֹנִ֖יםne.kho.NimH3559by the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֑יha.she.li.ShiH7992dayלַיּ֣וֹםlai.YomH3117,forכִּ֣י׀kiH3588on the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗יha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068will come downיֵרֵ֧דye.RedH3381onעַל־'al-H5921Mountהַ֥רharH2022Sinaiסִינָֽי׃si.NaiH5514in the sightלְעֵינֵ֥יle.'ei.NeiH5869of allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971.

12And you are to set up a boundaryוְהִגְבַּלְתָּ֤ve.hig.bal.TaH1379אֶת־'et-H853for the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971aroundסָבִ֣יבsa.VivH5439the mountainand tell themלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Be carefulהִשָּׁמְר֥וּhi.sha.me.RuH8104not to go upעֲל֥וֹתa.LotH5927on the mountainבָּהָ֖רba.HarH2022or touchוּנְגֹ֣עַu.ne.Go.a'H5060its baseבְּקָצֵ֑הוּbe.ka.Tze.huH7097.Whoeverכָּל־kol-H3605touchesהַנֹּגֵ֥עַha.no.Ge.a'H5060the mountainבָּהָ֖רba.HarH2022shall surely be put to deathH4191.

13Noלֹא־lo'-H3808handיָ֗דYadH3027shall touchתִגַּ֨עti.Ga'H5060him,butכִּֽי־ki-H3588he shall surely be stonedH5619orאוֹ־'ov-H176shotיָרֹ֣הya.RohH3384with arrowsיִיָּרֶ֔הyi.ya.RehH3384—whetherאִם־'im-H518manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376orאִם־'im-H518beastבְּהֵמָ֥הbe.he.MahH929,he must notלֹ֣אlo'H3808liveיִחְיֶ֑הyich.YehH2421.’Only when the ram’s hornהַיֹּבֵ֔לhai.yo.VelH3104sounds a long blastבִּמְשֹׁךְ֙bim.shoKhH4900may theyהֵ֖מָּהHe.mahH1992approachיַעֲל֥וּya.'a.LuH5927the mountainבָהָֽר׃va.HarH2022.”

14When Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872came downוַיֵּ֧רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381fromמִן־min-H4480the mountainהָהָ֖רha.HarH2022toאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,he consecrated themוַיְקַדֵּשׁ֙vay.ka.DeshH6942אֶת־'et-H853הָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,and they washedוַֽיְכַבְּס֖וּvay.kha.be.SuH3526their clothesשִׂמְלֹתָֽם׃sim.lo.TamH8071.

15“Beהֱי֥וּhe.YuH1961preparedנְכֹנִ֖יםne.kho.NimH3559for the thirdלִשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתlish.Lo.shetH7969dayיָמִ֑יםya.MimH3117,”he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971. “Do notאַֽל־'al-H408draw nearתִּגְּשׁ֖וּti.ge.ShuH5066toאֶל־'el-H413a womanאִשָּֽׁה׃'i.ShahH802.”

The LORD Visits Sinai

16On the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֜יha.she.li.ShiH7992dayבַיּ֨וֹםvai.YomH3117,when morningוַיְהִי֩ הַבֹּ֗קֶרvay.Hi ha.Bo.kerH1242 H1961cameבִּֽהְיֹ֣תbih.YotH1961,there wasוַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961thunderקֹלֹ֨תko.LotH6963and lightningוּבְרָקִ֜יםu.ve.ra.KimH1300.A thickכָּבֵד֙ka.VedH3515cloudוְעָנָ֤ןve.'a.NanH6051was uponעַל־'al-H5921the mountainהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022,and a very loudחָזָ֣ק מְאֹ֑דcha.Zak me.'OdH2389 H3966blastוְקֹ֥לve.KolH6963of the ram’s hornשֹׁפָ֖רsho.FarH7782went out,so that allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834in the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃Ba.ma.cha.NehH4264trembledוַיֶּחֱרַ֥דvai.ye.che.RadH2729.

17Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֧הmo.ShehH4872אֶת־'et-H853broughtוַיּוֹצֵ֨אvai.yo.Tze'H3318the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971out ofמִן־min-H4480the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑הha.ma.cha.NehH4264to meetלִקְרַ֥אתlik.RatH7122with Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֖יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and they stoodוַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֖וּvai.yit.ya.tze.VuH3320at the footבְּתַחְתִּ֥יתbe.tach.TitH8482of the mountainהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022.

18Mountוְהַ֤רve.HarH2022Sinaiסִינַי֙si.NaiH5514was completelyכֻּלּ֔וֹku.LoH3605enveloped in smokeעָשַׁ֣ן'a.ShanH6225,becauseמִ֠פְּנֵיMi.pe.neiH6440אֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had descendedיָרַ֥דya.RadH3381on itעָלָ֛יו'a.LavH5921in fireבָּאֵ֑שׁba.'EshH784.And the smokeעֲשָׁנוֹ֙a.sha.NoH6227roseוַיַּ֤עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927like the smokeכְּעֶ֣שֶׁןke.'E.shenH6227of a furnaceהַכִּבְשָׁ֔ןha.kiv.ShanH3536,and the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605mountainהָהָ֖רha.HarH2022quakedוַיֶּחֱרַ֥דvai.ye.che.RadH2729violentlyמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966.

19And asוַיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961the soundק֣וֹלKolH6963of the ram’s hornהַשּׁוֹפָ֔רha.sho.FarH7782grew louderהוֹלֵ֖ךְ וְחָזֵ֣קho.Lekh ve.cha.ZekH1980 H2390and louderמְאֹ֑דme.'OdH3966,Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872spokeיְדַבֵּ֔רye.da.BerH1696and Godוְהָאֱלֹהִ֖יםve.ha.'E.lo.HimH430answered himיַעֲנֶ֥נּוּya.'a.Ne.nuH6030in the thunderבְקֽוֹל׃ve.KolH6963.

20The LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068descendedוַיֵּ֧רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381toאֶל־'el-H413the topרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218הַ֥רharH2022ofעַל־'al-H5921Mountהָהָ֑רha.HarH2022Sinaiסִינַ֖יsi.NaiH5514andיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121Mosesלְמֹשֶׁ֛הle.mo.ShehH4872toאֶל־'el-H413the summitרֹ֥אשׁ הָהָ֖רrosh ha.HarH7218 H2022.Soמֹשֶֽׁה׃mo.ShehH4872Moseswent upוַיַּ֥עַלvai.Ya.'alH5927,

21and the LORDיְהוָה֙ אֶל־Yah.weh 'el-H3068 H413saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872him, “Go downרֵ֖דredH3381and warnהָעֵ֣דha.'EdH5749the peopleבָּעָ֑םba.'AmH5971notפֶּן־pen-H6435to break throughיֶהֶרְס֤וּ אֶל־ye.her.Su 'el-H2040 H413to seeלִרְא֔וֹתlir.'otH7200the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068, lestmanyרָֽב׃RavH7227of themמִמֶּ֖נּוּmi.Me.nuH4480perishוְנָפַ֥לve.na.FalH5307.

22Evenוְגַ֧םve.GamH1571the priestsהַכֹּהֲנִ֛יםha.ko.ha.NimH3548who approachהַנִּגָּשִׁ֥ים אֶל־ha.ni.ga.Shim 'el-H5066 H413the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068must consecrate themselvesיִתְקַדָּ֑שׁוּyit.ka.Da.shuH6942,orפֶּן־pen-H6435the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068will break outיִפְרֹ֥ץyif.RotzH6555against them.”

23But Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, “The peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971cannotלֹא־ יוּכַ֣לlo'- yu.KhalH3808 H3201come upלַעֲלֹ֖ת אֶל־la.'a.Lot 'el-H5927 H413Mountהַ֣רharH2022Sinaiסִינָ֑יsi.NaiH5514,forכִּֽי־ki-H3588Youאַתָּ֞ה'a.TahH859solemnly warnedהַעֵדֹ֤תָהha.'e.Do.tahH5749usלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Put a boundary aroundהַגְבֵּ֥לhag.BelH1379אֶת־'et-H853the mountainהָהָ֖רha.HarH2022and set it apart as holyוְקִדַּשְׁתּֽוֹ׃ve.ki.dash.ToH6942.’”

24And the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068repliedוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559אֵלָ֤יו'e.LavH413, “Goלֶךְ־lekh-H1980downרֵ֔דRedH3381and bringוְעָלִ֥יתָve.'a.Li.taH5927Aaronוְאַהֲרֹ֣ןve.'a.ha.RonH175withעִמָּ֑ךְ'i.MakhH5973youאַתָּ֖ה'a.TahH859.But the priestsוְהַכֹּהֲנִ֣יםve.ha.ko.ha.NimH3548and the peopleוְהָעָ֗םve.ha.'AmH5971must notאַל־'al-H408break throughיֶֽהֶרְס֛וּye.her.SuH2040to come upלַעֲלֹ֥תla.'a.LotH5927toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,orפֶּן־pen-H6435He will break outיִפְרָץ־yif.rotz-H6555against them.”

25So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872went downוַיֵּ֥רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381toאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971and spokeוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to themאֲלֵהֶֽם׃ ס'a.le.HemH413.
