Luke 23:1-25

1And the whole company of them roseG450 up, and broughtG71 him before PilateG4091. 2And they beganG757 to accuseG2723 him, sayingG3004, We foundG2147 this manG3778 perverting our nationG1484, and forbiddingG2967 to giveG1325 tribute to Cæsar, and sayingG3004 that he himself isG1510 ChristG5547 a kingG935. 3And PilateG4091 askedG2065 him, sayingG3004, Art thou the KingG935 of the JewsG2453? And he answeredG611 him and saidG3004, Thou sayest. 4And PilateG4091 saidG3004 unto the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the multitudesG3793, I findG2147 no fault in this manG444. 5But they were the more urgent, sayingG3004, He stirreth up the peopleG2992, teachingG1321 throughout all Judæa, and beginningG757 from GalileeG1056 evenG2532 unto this place. 6But when PilateG4091 heardG191 it, he askedG1905 whether the manG444 wereG1510 a Galilæan. 7And when he knewG1921 that he wasG1510 of Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent him unto HerodG2264, who himself alsoG2532 wasG1510 at JerusalemG2414 in these daysG2250.

8NowG1161 when HerodG2264 sawG3708 JesusG2424, he wasG1510 exceeding gladG5463: for he wasG1510 of a long timeG5550 desirous to seeG3708 him, because he had heardG191 concerningG4012 him; and he hopedG1679 to seeG3708 some miracle done by him. 9And he questionedG1905 him in manyG2425 wordsG3056; but he answeredG611 him nothing. 10And the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the scribesG1122 stoodG2476, vehemently accusingG2723 him. 11And HerodG2264 with his soldiers set him at nought, and mockedG1702 him, and arraying him in gorgeous apparelG2066 sent him backG375 to PilateG4091. 12And HerodG2264 and PilateG4091 becameG1096 friendsG5384 with each other that very dayG2250: for before they wereG1510 at enmity between themselves.

13And PilateG4091 calledG4779 togetherG4779 the chiefG749 priestsG749 and the rulersG758 and the peopleG2992, 14and saidG3004 unto them, Ye broughtG4374 unto me this manG444, as oneG3762 that perverteth the peopleG2992: and beholdG2400, I, having examined him before you, foundG2147 no fault in this manG444 touching those thingsG3778 whereof ye accuseG2723 him: 15no, nor yet HerodG2264: for he sent him backG375 unto us; and beholdG2400, nothing worthyG514 of deathG2288 hath beenG1510 done by him. 16I will thereforeG3767 chastise him, and releaseG630 him. 171 18But they cried out all together, sayingG3004, AwayG142 with this manG3778, and releaseG630 unto us BarabbasG912:— 19oneG5100 who for a certainG5100 insurrectionG4714 made in the cityG4172, and for murderG5408, wasG1510 castG906 into prisonG5438. 20And PilateG4091 spake unto them againG3825, desiringG2309 to releaseG630 JesusG2424; 21but they shouted, sayingG3004, CrucifyG4717, crucifyG4717 him. 22And he saidG3004 unto them the thirdG5154 timeG5154, WhyG5101, what evilG2556 hath this manG3778 done? I have foundG2147 no cause of deathG2288 in him: I will thereforeG3767 chastise him and releaseG630 him. 23But they were urgent with loudG3173 voicesG5456, askingG154 that he might be crucifiedG4717. And their voicesG5456 prevailed. 24And PilateG4091 gave sentence that what they asked for should be done. 25And he releasedG630 him that for insurrectionG4714 and murderG5408 had been castG906 into prisonG5438, whom they askedG154 for; but JesusG2424 he deliveredG3860 up to their will.
