Galatians 2
1Then after the space of fourteenG1180 yearsG2094 I wentG305 up againG3825 to JerusalemG2414 with BarnabasG921, takingG4838 TitusG5103 alsoG2532 with me. 2And I wentG305 up by revelationG602; and I laid before them the gospelG2098 which I preachG2784 among the GentilesG1484 but privately before them who were of repute, lestG3361 by any means I should be runningG5143, or had runG5143, in vainG2756. 3But not evenG3761 TitusG5103 who wasG1510 with me, beingG1510 a GreekG1672, wasG1510 compelledG315 to beG1510 circumcisedG4059: 4and that because of the falseG5569 brethren privily brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in ChristG5547 JesusG2424, that they might bring us into bondage: 5to whom we gave place in the way of subjection, no, not for an hourG5610; that the truthG225 of the gospelG2098 might continueG1265 with you. 6But from those who wereG1510 reputed to beG1510 somewhat (whatsoever they wereG1510, it maketh no matter to me: GodG2316 accepteth not man’sG444 person)—they, I say, who wereG1510 of repute imparted nothing to me: 7but contrariwise, when they sawG3708 that I had been intrusted with the gospelG2098 of the uncircumcisionG203, even as PeterG4074 with the gospelG2098 of the circumcisionG4061 8(for he that wrought for PeterG4074 unto the apostleshipG651 of the circumcisionG4061 wrought for me alsoG2532 unto the GentilesG1484); 9and when they perceived the graceG5485 that wasG1510 givenG1325 unto me, JamesG2385 and CephasG2786 and JohnG2491, they who wereG1510 reputed to beG1510 pillarsG4769, gaveG1325 to me and BarnabasG921 the rightG1188 hands of fellowshipG2842, that we should go unto the GentilesG1484, and they unto the circumcisionG4061; 10onlyG3440 they would that we should rememberG3421 the poorG4434; which very thingG3778 I was alsoG2532 zealous to do.
11But whenG3753 CephasG2786 cameG2064 to AntiochG490, I resisted him to the faceG4383, because he stood condemnedG2607. 12For before that certainG5100 cameG2064 from JamesG2385, he ate with the GentilesG1484; but whenG3753 they cameG2064, he drew backG5288 and separatedG873 himself, fearingG5399 them that were of the circumcisionG4061. 13And the restG3062 of the JewsG2453 dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that evenG2532 BarnabasG921 was carried awayG4879 with their dissimulation. 14But whenG3753 I sawG3708 that they walked not uprightly according to the truthG225 of the gospelG2098, I saidG3004 unto CephasG2786 before them all, If thou, being a JewG2453, livest as do the GentilesG1484, and not as do the JewsG2453, howG4459 compellest thou the GentilesG1484 to liveG2198 as do the JewsG2453? 15We being JewsG2453 by natureG5449, and not sinnersG268 of the GentilesG1484, 16yet knowing that a manG444 is not justifiedG1344 by the worksG2041 of the lawG3551 but through faithG4102 in JesusG2424 ChristG5547, evenG2532 we believedG4100 on ChristG5547 JesusG2424, that we might be justifiedG1344 by faithG4102 in ChristG5547, and not by the worksG2041 of the lawG3551: because by the worksG2041 of the lawG3551 shall no fleshG4561 be justifiedG1344. 17But if, while we soughtG2212 to be justifiedG1344 in ChristG5547, we ourselves alsoG2532 were foundG2147 sinnersG268, is ChristG5547 a ministerG1249 of sinG266? God forbid. 18For if I buildG3618 up againG3825 those thingsG3778 which I destroyedG2647, I prove myself a transgressorG3848. 19For I through the lawG3551 diedG599 unto the lawG3551, that I might liveG2198 unto GodG2316. 20I have been crucified with ChristG5547; and it is no longer I that liveG2198, but ChristG5547 liveth in me: and that life which I nowG1161 liveG2198 in the fleshG4561 I liveG2198 in faithG4102, the faithG4102 which is in the SonG5207 of GodG2316, who lovedG25 me, and gave himself up for me. 21I do not make void the graceG5485 of GodG2316: for if righteousnessG1343 is through the lawG3551, thenG686 ChristG5547 diedG599 for nought.
