Portion of the Levites

1“1The LeviticalH3881 priestsH3548, the wholeH3605 tribeH7626 of LeviH3878, shall haveH1961 noH3808 portionH2506 or inheritanceH5159 with IsraelH3478; they shall eatH398 the Lord’sH3068 offeringsH801 by fireH801 and His 2portionH5159. 23They shall haveH1961 noH3808 inheritanceH5159 amongH7130 their 4countrymenH251; the LordH3068 is their inheritanceH5159, as He 5promisedH1696 them.

3“6Now thisH2088 shall be the priests’H3548 dueH4941 from the peopleH5971, from those who offerH2076 a sacrificeH2076, eitherH518 an oxH7794 orH518 a sheepH7716, of which they shall giveH5414 to the priestH3548 the shoulderH2220 and the twoH3895 cheeksH3895 and the stomachH6896. 4You shall giveH5414 him the 7firstH7225 fruitsH7225 of your grainH1715, your newH8492 wineH8492, and your oilH3323, and the firstH7225 shearingH1488 of your sheepH6629. 58For the LordH3068 your GodH430 has chosenH977 him and his sonsH1121 from allH3605 your tribesH7626, to 9standH5975 10and serveH8334 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 foreverH3605H3117.

6“Now ifH3588 a LeviteH3881 comesH935 from anyH259 of your 11townsH8179 throughoutH4480H3605 IsraelH3478 whereH834H8033 he 12residesH1481, and comesH935 13wheneverH3605 he desiresH185 to the placeH4725 whichH834 the LordH3068 choosesH977, 7then he shall serveH8334 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 his GodH430, like allH3605 his fellowH251 LevitesH3881 who standH5975 thereH8033 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 814They shall eatH398 15equalH2506 portionsH2506, exceptH905 what they receive from the saleH4465 of their fathers’H1 estates.

9“WhenH3588 you enterH935 the landH776 whichH834 the LordH3068 your GodH430 givesH5414 you, you shall not learnH3925 to 1617imitateH6213 the detestableH8441 thingsH8441 of thoseH1992 nationsH1471. 10There shall not be foundH4672 among you anyone 18who makes his sonH1121 or his daughterH1323 passH5674 through the fireH784, one who usesH7080 divinationH7081, one 19who practicesH6049 witchcraftH6049, or one who interpretsH5172 omensH5172, or a sorcererH3784, 11or one who castsH2266 a spellH2267, 20or a mediumH7592H178, or a spiritistH3049, or one who callsH1875 up the deadH4191. 12For whoeverH3605 doesH6213 theseH428 thingsH428 is detestableH8441 to the LordH3068; and 21becauseH1558 of theseH428 detestableH8441 thingsH8441 the LordH3068 your GodH430 will driveH3423 them out beforeH4480H6440 you. 1322You shall be 23blamelessH8549 beforeH5973 the LordH3068 your GodH430. 14For thoseH428 nationsH1471, whichH834 you shall dispossessH3423, listenH8085 to those who 24practiceH6049 witchcraftH6049 and to divinersH7080, but as for you, the LordH3068 your GodH430 has not allowedH5414 you to do soH3651.

15“25The LordH3068 your GodH430 will raiseH6965 up for you a prophetH5030 likeH3644 me from amongH7130 you, from your 26countrymenH251, you shall listenH8085 to him. 16This is 27according to allH3605 that you askedH7592 of the LordH3068 your GodH430 in HorebH2722 on the dayH3117 of the assemblyH6951, sayingH559, ‘Let me not hearH8085 againH3254 the voiceH6963 of the LordH3068 my GodH430, let me not seeH7200 thisH2088 greatH1419 fireH784 anymoreH5750, orH3808 I will dieH4191.’ 1728The LordH3068 saidH559 to me, ‘They have 29spokenH1696 wellH3190. 18I will raiseH6965 up a prophetH5030 from amongH7130 their 30countrymenH251 likeH3644 you, and 31I will putH5414 My wordsH1697 in his mouthH6310, and 32he shall speakH1696 to them allH3605 that I commandH6680 him. 1933It shall comeH1961 about that whoeverH376H834 will not listenH8085 to My wordsH1697 whichH834 he shall speakH1696 in My nameH8034, I MyselfH595 will requireH1875 it of him. 20But the prophetH5030 whoH834 speaksH1696 a wordH1697 34presumptuouslyH2102 in My nameH8034 whichH834 I have not commandedH6680 him to speakH1696, or 35whichH834 he speaksH1696 in the nameH8034 of otherH312 godsH430, 36that prophetH5030 shall dieH4191.’ 2137You may sayH559 in your heartH3824, ‘HowH351 will we knowH3045 the wordH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 has not spokenH1696?’ 2238WhenH834 a prophetH5030 speaksH1696 in the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, if the thingH1697 does not comeH1961 about or comeH935 true, that is the thingH1697 whichH834 the LordH3068 has not spokenH1696. The prophetH5030 has spokenH1696 it 39presumptuouslyH2087; you shall not be afraidH1481 of him.
