2 Chronicles 28:16-25
16At that timeH6256 did kingH4428 AhazH271 sendH7971 unto the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 to helpH5826 him. 17For againH5750 the EdomitesH130 had comeH935 and smitten JudahH3063, and carried away captivesH7628. 18The PhilistinesH6430 also had invaded the citiesH5892 of the lowland, and of the SouthH5045 of JudahH3063, and had takenH3920 Beth-shemeshH1053, and AijalonH357, and GederothH1450, and Soco with the towns thereof, and TimnahH8553 with the towns thereof, Gimzo also and the towns thereof: and they dweltH3427 there. 19For Jehovah brought JudahH3063 low because of AhazH271 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478; for he had dealt wantonly in JudahH3063, and trespassed sore against Jehovah. 20And Tilgath-pilneser kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 cameH935 unto him, and distressed him, but strengthenedH2388 him not. 21For AhazH271 took away a portion out of the houseH1004 of Jehovah, and out of the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 and of the princesH8269, and gaveH5414 it unto the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804: but it helped him not.
22And in the timeH6256 of his distress did he trespass yet more against Jehovah, this same kingH4428 AhazH271. 23For he sacrificedH2076 unto the godsH430 of DamascusH1834, which smote him; and he saidH559, Because the godsH430 of the kingsH4428 of Syria helpedH5826 them, therefore will I sacrificeH2076 to them, that they may helpH5826 me. But they wereH1961 the ruin of him, and of all IsraelH3478. 24And AhazH271 gatheredH622 together the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, and cutH7112 in pieces the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, and shutH5462 up the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah; and he madeH6213 him altarsH4196 in every cornerH6438 of JerusalemH3389. 25And in every cityH5892 of JudahH3063 he madeH6213 highH1116 placesH1116 to burn incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430, and provokedH3707 to angerH3707 Jehovah, the GodH430 of his fathersH1.
