2 Chronicles 28:16-25

161At that timeH6256 KingH4428 AhazH271 sentH7971 to the 2kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 for helpH5826. 173For againH5750 the EdomitesH130 had comeH935 and attackedH5221 JudahH3063 and carriedH7617 away captivesH7628. 184The PhilistinesH6430 also had invadedH6584 the citiesH5892 of the 5lowlandH8219 and of the NegevH5045 of JudahH3063, and had takenH3920 Beth-shemeshH1053, AijalonH357, GederothH1450, and SocoH7755 with its villagesH1323, TimnahH8553 with its villagesH1323, and GimzoH1579 with its villagesH1323, and they settledH3427 thereH8033. 19For the LordH3068 humbledH3665 JudahH3063 becauseH5668 of AhazH271 kingH4428 of 6IsraelH3478, for he had broughtH6544 about a lackH6544 of restraintH6544 in JudahH3063 and was veryH4604 unfaithfulH4604 to the LordH3068. 20So 7Tilgath-pilneserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 cameH935 againstH5921 him and afflictedH6887 him insteadH3808 of strengtheningH2388 him. 218AlthoughH3588 AhazH271 tookH2505 a portionH2505 out of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and out of the palaceH1004 of the kingH4428 and of the princesH8269, and gaveH5414 it to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, it did not helpH5833 him.

22Now in the timeH6256 of his distressH6887 thisH1931 sameH1931 KingH4428 AhazH271 9becameH4603 yetH3254 moreH3254 unfaithfulH4603 to the LordH3068. 2310For he sacrificedH2076 to the godsH430 of DamascusH1834 which had 11defeatedH5221 him, and saidH559, “12BecauseH3588 the godsH430 of the kingsH4428 of AramH758 helpedH5826 them, I will sacrificeH2076 to them that they may helpH5826 me.” But they becameH1961 the 13downfallH3782 of him and allH3605 IsraelH3478. 24Moreover, when AhazH271 gatheredH622 together the utensilsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, he 14cutH7112 the utensilsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430 in piecesH7112; and he 15closedH5462 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and 16madeH6213 altarsH4196 for himself in everyH3605 cornerH6438 of JerusalemH3389. 25In everyH3605 cityH5892 of JudahH3063 he madeH6213 highH1116 placesH1116 to burnH6999 incenseH6999 to otherH312 godsH430, and provokedH3707 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of his fathersH1, to angerH3707.
