16At that time did kingH4428 AhazH271 sendH7971 unto the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 to helpH5826 him.

17For againH5750 the EdomitesH130 had comeH935 and smittenH5221 JudahH3063, and carriedH7617 awayH7617 captivesH7628.

18The PhilistinesH6430 also had invadedH6584 the citiesH5892 of the lowlandH8219, and of the SouthH5045 of JudahH3063, and had takenH3920 Beth-shemeshH1053, and AijalonH357, and GederothH1450, and SocoH7755 with the townsH1323 thereof, and TimnahH8553 with the townsH1323 thereof, GimzoH1579 also and the townsH1323 thereof: and they dweltH3427 there.

19For the LORDH3068 brought JudahH3063 low becauseH3588 of AhazH271 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478; for he had dealt wantonly in JudahH3063, and trespassed sore againstH4604 the LORDH3068.

20And Tilgath-pilneserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 cameH935 unto him, and distressed him, but strengthenedH2388 him notH3808.

21For AhazH271 tookH853 away a portion outH853 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and outH853 of the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 and of the princesH8269, and gaveH5414 it unto the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804: but it helped him notH3808.

22And in the time of his distress didH3254 he trespass yet moreH3254 against the LORDH3068, this sameH1931 kingH4428 AhazH271.

23For he sacrificedH2076 unto the godsH430 of DamascusH1834, which smoteH5221 him: and he saidH559, BecauseH3588 the godsH430 of the kingsH4428 of SyriaH758 helpH5826 them, therefore will I sacrificeH2076 to them, that they may helpH5826 meH5221. But they were the ruin of him, and of allH3605 IsraelH3478.

24And AhazH271 gatheredH622 togetherH622 the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, and cutH7112 in piecesH7112 the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, and shutH5462 upH5462 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068; and he madeH6213 him altarsH4196 in everyH3605 cornerH6438 of JerusalemH3389.

25And in everyH3605 several cityH5892 of JudahH3063 he madeH6213 highH1116 placesH1116 to burnH6999 incenseH6999 unto otherH312 godsH430, and provokedH3707 to angerH3707 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of his fathersH1.
