Chronicles 25:11-23

And AmaziahH558 tookH2388 courage, and ledH5090 forth his peopleH5971, and went to the ValleyH1516 of SaltH4417, and smote of the children of SeirH8165 tenH6235 thousandH505. 12And other tenH6235 thousandH505 did the children of JudahH3063 carry awayH7993 aliveH2416, and broughtH935 them unto the topH7218 of the rockH5553, and castH7993 them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the rockH5553, so that they were all brokenH1234 in pieces. 13But the men of the army whom AmaziahH558 sent backH7725, that they should not goH7725 with him to battleH4421, fell upon the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, from SamariaH8111 even unto Beth-horonH1032, and smote of them threeH7969 thousandH505, and tookH962 muchH7227 spoilH962.

Now it cameH935 to pass, after that AmaziahH558 wasH1961 comeH935 from the slaughter of the EdomitesH130, that he broughtH935 the godsH430 of the children of SeirH8165, and setH5975 them up to beH1961 his godsH430, and bowedH7812 downH5221 himself before them, and burned incenseH6999 unto them. 15Wherefore the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against AmaziahH558, and he sentH7971 unto him a prophetH5030, who saidH559 unto him, WhyH4100 hast thou soughtH1875 after the godsH430 of the peopleH5971, which have not deliveredH5337 their own peopleH5971 out of thy handH3027? 16And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that the kingH4428 saidH559 unto him, Have we madeH6213 thee of the king’sH4428 counselH6098? forbear; whyH4100 shouldest thou beH1961 smitten? Then the prophetH5030 forbare, and saidH559, I knowH3045 that GodH430 hath determined to destroyH7843 thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counselH6098.

Then AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 took advice, and sentH7971 to JoashH3101, the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059 the sonH1121 of JehuH3058, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ComeH1980, let us lookH7200 one another in the faceH6440. 18And JoashH3101 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 sentH7971 to AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, sayingH559, The thistle that was in LebanonH3844 sentH7971 to the cedarH730 that was in LebanonH3844, sayingH559, GiveH5414 thy daughterH1323 to my sonH1121 to wifeH802: and there passedH5674 by a wild beast that was in LebanonH3844, and trod down the thistle. 19Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten EdomH123; and thy heartH3820 lifteth thee up to boast: abide nowH6258 at home; whyH4100 shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fallH5307, even thou, and JudahH3063 with thee?

But AmaziahH558 would not hearH8085; for it was of GodH430, that he might deliver them into the handH3027 of their enemies, because they had soughtH1875 after the godsH430 of EdomH123. 21So JoashH3101 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 wentH5927 up; and he and AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 lookedH7200 one another in the faceH6440 at Beth-shemeshH1053, which belongeth to JudahH3063. 22And JudahH3063 was put to the worse before IsraelH3478; and they fledH5127 every manH376 to his tentH168. 23And JoashH3101 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 took AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, the sonH1121 of JoashH3101 the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059, at Beth-shemeshH1053, and broughtH935 him to JerusalemH3389, and brake down the wallH2346 of JerusalemH3389 from the gateH8179 of EphraimH669 unto the corner gateH8179, fourH702 hundredH3967 cubitsH520.
