2 Chronicles 25:11-23
11Now AmaziahH558 strengthenedH2388 himself and ledH5090 his peopleH5971 forthH5090, and wentH1980 to 1the ValleyH1516 of SaltH4417 and struckH5221 downH5221 10,000H6235H505 of the sonsH1121 of SeirH8165. 12The sonsH1121 of JudahH3063 also capturedH7617 10,000H6235H505 aliveH2416 and broughtH935 them to the topH7218 of the cliffH5553 and threwH7993 them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the cliffH5553, so that they were allH3605 dashedH1234 to piecesH1234. 13But the 2troopsH1121H1416 whomH834 AmaziahH558 sentH7725 backH7725 from goingH1980 with him to battleH4421, raidedH6584 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, from SamariaH8111 to Beth-horonH1032, and struckH5221 downH5221 3,000H7969H505 of them and plunderedH962 muchH7227 spoilH961.
14Now afterH310 AmaziahH558 cameH1961 from slaughteringH5221 the EdomitesH130, 3he broughtH935 the godsH430 of the sonsH1121 of SeirH8165, setH5975 them up as his godsH430, bowedH7812 downH7812 beforeH6440 them and burnedH6999 incenseH6999 to them. 15Then the angerH639 of the LordH3068 burnedH2734 against AmaziahH558, and He sentH7971 him a prophetH5030 who saidH559 to him, “WhyH4100 have you soughtH1875 the godsH430 of the peopleH5971 4whoH834 have not deliveredH5337 their own peopleH5971 from your handH3027?” 16As he was talkingH1696 with him, 5the king saidH559 to him, “Have we appointedH5414 you a royalH4428 counselorH3289? StopH2308! WhyH4100 should you be struckH5221 downH5221?” Then the prophetH5030 stoppedH2308 and saidH559, “I knowH3045 that GodH430 has plannedH3289 to destroyH7843 you, becauseH3588 you have doneH6213 thisH2088 and have not listenedH8085 to my counselH6098.”
176Then AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 tookH3289 counselH3289 and sentH7971 to JoashH3060 the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059 the sonH1121 of JehuH3058, the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, “ComeH1980, let us faceH7200H6440 each other.” 18JoashH3060 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 sentH7971 to AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, sayingH559, “7The thornH2336 bushH2336 whichH834 was in LebanonH3844 sentH7971 to the cedarH730 whichH834 was in LebanonH3844, sayingH559, ‘GiveH5414 your daughterH1323 to my sonH1121 in marriageH802.’ But there passedH5674 by a wildH7704 beastH2421 that was in LebanonH3844 and trampledH7429 the thornH2336 bushH2336. 19You saidH559, ‘BeholdH2009, you have 8defeatedH5221 EdomH112.’ And 9your heartH3820 has 10becomeH5375 proudH5375 in boastingH3513. NowH6258 stayH3427 at homeH1004; for whyH4100 should you provokeH1624 troubleH7463 so that you, even you, would fallH5307 and JudahH3063 with you?”
20But AmaziahH558 would not listenH8085, for it was from GodH430, that He might deliverH5414 them into the handH3027 of Joash becauseH3588 they had soughtH1875 the godsH430 of EdomH112. 21So JoashH3060 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 wentH5927 up, and he and AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 facedH7200H6440 each other at Beth-shemeshH1053, whichH834 belonged to JudahH3063. 22JudahH3063 was defeatedH5062 11by IsraelH3478, and they fledH5127 eachH376 to his tentH168. 23Then JoashH3060 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 capturedH8610 AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, the sonH1121 of JoashH3060 the sonH1121 of 12JehoahazH3059, at Beth-shemeshH1053, and broughtH935 him to JerusalemH3389 and toreH6555 downH6555 the wallH2346 of JerusalemH3389 from the GateH8179 of EphraimH669 to the CornerH6438 GateH8179, 400H702H3967 13cubitsH520.
