Chronicles 25:11-23

And AmaziahH558 strengthenedH2388 himself, and led forthH5090 his peopleH5971, and wentH3212 to the valleyH1516 of saltH4417, and smoteH5221 of the childrenH1121 of SeirH8165 tenH6235 thousandH505. 12And other tenH6235 thousandH505 left aliveH2416 did the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063 carry away captiveH7617, and broughtH935 them unto the topH7218 of the rockH5553, and cast them downH7993 from the topH7218 of the rockH5553, that they all were broken in piecesH1234.

But the soldiersH1121 of the armyH1416 which AmaziahH558 sent backH7725, that they should not goH3212 with him to battleH4421, fellH6584 upon the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, from SamariaH8111 even unto Beth–horonH1032, and smoteH5221 threeH7969 thousandH505 of them, and tookH962 muchH7227 spoilH961.1

Now it came to pass, afterH310 that AmaziahH558 was comeH935 from the slaughterH5221 of the EdomitesH130, that he broughtH935 the godsH430 of the childrenH1121 of SeirH8165, and set them upH5975 to be his godsH430, and bowed downH7812 himself beforeH6440 them, and burned incenseH6999 unto them. 15Wherefore the angerH639 of YhwhH3068 was kindledH2734 against AmaziahH558, and he sentH7971 unto him a prophetH5030, which saidH559 unto him, Why hast thou soughtH1875 after the godsH430 of the peopleH5971, which could not deliverH5337 their own peopleH5971 out of thine handH3027? 16And it came to pass, as he talkedH1696 with him, that the king saidH559 unto him, Art thou madeH5414 of the king’sH4428 counselH3289? forbearH2308; why shouldest thou be smittenH5221? Then the prophetH5030 forbareH2308, and saidH559, I knowH3045 that GodH430 hath determinedH3289 to destroyH7843 thee, because thou hast doneH6213 this, and hast not hearkenedH8085 unto my counselH6098.2

Then AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 took adviceH3289, and sentH7971 to JoashH3101, the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059, the sonH1121 of JehuH3058, kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ComeH3212, let us see one anotherH7200 in the faceH6440. 18And JoashH3101 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 sentH7971 to AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, sayingH559, The thistleH2336 that was in LebanonH3844 sentH7971 to the cedarH730 that was in LebanonH3844, sayingH559, GiveH5414 thy daughterH1323 to my sonH1121 to wifeH802: and there passed byH5674 a wildH7704 beastH2416 that was in LebanonH3844, and trode downH7429 the thistleH2336.34 19Thou sayestH559, Lo, thou hast smittenH5221 the EdomitesH123; and thine heartH3820 lifteth thee upH5375 to boastH3513: abideH3427 now at homeH1004; why shouldest thou meddleH1624 to thine hurtH7451, that thou shouldest fallH5307, even thou, and JudahH3063 with thee? 20But AmaziahH558 would not hearH8085; for it came of GodH430, that he might deliverH5414 them into the handH3027 of their enemies, because they soughtH1875 after the godsH430 of EdomH123. 21So JoashH3101 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 went upH5927; and they saw one anotherH7200 in the faceH6440, both he and AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, at Beth–shemeshH1053, which belongeth to JudahH3063. 22And JudahH3063 was put to the worseH5062 beforeH6440 IsraelH3478, and they fledH5127 every manH376 to his tentH168.5 23And JoashH3101 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 tookH8610 AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, the sonH1121 of JoashH3101, the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059, at Beth–shemeshH1053, and broughtH935 him to JerusalemH3389, and brake downH6555 the wallH2346 of JerusalemH3389 from the gateH8179 of EphraimH669 to the cornerH6437 gateH8179, fourH702 hundredH3967 cubitsH520.6
