1 Samuel 3
1And the child SamuelH8050 ministered unto Jehovah before EliH5941. And the wordH1697 of Jehovah was preciousH3368 in those daysH3117; there was no frequent visionH2377. 2And it came to pass at that time, when EliH5941 wasH1961 laidH7901 downH7901 in his placeH4725 (now his eyesH5869 had begunH2490 to wax dimH3544, so that he could not seeH7200), 3and the lampH5216 of GodH430 was not yetH2962 gone out, and SamuelH8050 was laidH7901 downH7901 to sleep, in the templeH1964 of Jehovah, whereH834 the arkH727 of GodH430 was; 4that Jehovah calledH7121 SamuelH8050: and he saidH559, HereH2005 am I. 5And he ranH7323 unto EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst me. And he saidH559, I calledH7121 not; lieH7901 down again. And he wentH7725 and layH7901 downH7901. 6And Jehovah calledH7121 yetH5750 againH5750, SamuelH8050. And SamuelH8050 aroseH6965 and wentH7725 to EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst me. And he answered, I calledH7121 not, my sonH1121; lieH7901 down againH5750. 7Now SamuelH8050 did not yetH2962 knowH3045 Jehovah, neither was the wordH1697 of Jehovah yetH2962 revealedH1540 unto him. 8And Jehovah calledH7121 SamuelH8050 again the thirdH7992 time. And he aroseH6965 and went to EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst me. And EliH5941 perceivedH995 that Jehovah had calledH7121 the child. 9Therefore EliH5941 saidH559 unto SamuelH8050, Go, lieH7901 down: and it shall beH1961, if he callH7121 thee, that thou shalt sayH559, SpeakH1696, Jehovah; for thy servantH5650 heareth. So SamuelH8050 went and layH7901 downH7901 in his placeH4725.
10And Jehovah cameH935, and stoodH3320, and calledH7121 as at other timesH6471, SamuelH8050, SamuelH8050. Then SamuelH8050 saidH559, SpeakH1696; for thy servantH5650 heareth. 11And Jehovah saidH559 to SamuelH8050, Behold, I will do a thingH1697 in IsraelH3478, at which both the earsH241 of every one that heareth it shall tingleH6750. 12In that dayH3117 I will perform against EliH5941 all that I have spokenH1696 concerningH413 his houseH1004, from the beginningH2490 even unto the endH3615. 13For I have toldH5046 him that I will judgeH8199 his houseH1004 for everH5769, for the iniquityH5771 which he knewH3045, because his sonsH1121 did bring a curseH7043 upon themselves, and he restrained them not. 14And thereforeH3651 I have swornH7650 unto the houseH1004 of EliH5941, that the iniquityH5771 of Eli’s houseH1004 shall not be expiated with sacrificeH2077 nor offeringH4503 for everH5769.
15And SamuelH8050 layH7901 until the morningH1242, and openedH6605 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. And SamuelH8050 fearedH3372 to show EliH5941 the visionH4759. 16Then EliH5941 calledH7121 SamuelH8050, and saidH559, SamuelH8050, my sonH1121. And he saidH559, HereH2005 am I. 17And he saidH559, What is the thingH1697 thatJehovah hath spokenH1696 unto thee? I pray thee, hideH3582 it not from me: GodH430 do so to thee, and moreH4480 also, if thou hideH3582 anything from me of all the thingsH1697 that he spake unto thee. 18And SamuelH8050 toldH5046 him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he saidH559, It is Jehovah: let him do what seemeth him goodH2896.
19And SamuelH8050 grewH1431, and Jehovah wasH1961 with him, and did let none of his wordsH1697 fallH5307 to the groundH776. 20And all IsraelH3478 from DanH1835 even to Beer-sheba knewH3045 that SamuelH8050 was establishedH539 to be a prophetH5030 of Jehovah. 21And Jehovah appearedH7200 again in ShilohH7887; for Jehovah revealedH1540 himself to SamuelH8050 in ShilohH7887 by the wordH1697 of Jehovah.
