1 Samuel 3
Revised Version 1895
1And the childH5288 SamuelH8050 ministeredH8334 unto the LORDH3068 beforeH6440 EliH5941. And the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 was preciousH3368 in thoseH1992 daysH3117; there was noH369 openH6440 visionH2377. 2And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at that time, when EliH5941 was laidH7901 downH7901 in his placeH4725, (nowH1961 his eyesH5869 had begunH2490 to wax dimH3544, that he couldH3201 notH3808 seeH7200,) 3and the lampH5216 of GodH430 was not yet goneH3518 outH8033, and SamuelH8050 was laidH7901 downH7901 to sleepH7901, in the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068, whereH834 the arkH727 of GodH430 was; 4that the LORDH3068 calledH7121 SamuelH8050: and he saidH559, HereH2005 am I. 5And he ranH7323 unto EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst meH413. And he saidH559, I calledH7121 notH3808; lieH7901 downH7901 againH7725. And he wentH7725 and layH7901 downH7901. 6And the LORDH3068 calledH7121 yet againH5750, SamuelH8050. And SamuelH8050 aroseH6965 and wentH7725 to EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst meH413. And he answeredH559, I calledH7121 notH3808, my sonH1121; lieH7901 downH7901 againH5750. 7Now SamuelH8050 did notH3045 yet knowH3045 the LORDH3068, neither was the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 yet revealedH1540 unto him. 8And the LORDH3068 calledH7121 SamuelH8050 againH3254 the thirdH7992 time. And he aroseH6965 and wentH6965 to EliH5941, and saidH559, HereH2005 am I; for thou calledst meH413. And EliH5941 perceivedH995 that the LORDH3068 had calledH7121 the childH5288. 9Therefore EliH5941 saidH559 unto SamuelH8050, GoH1961, lieH7901 downH7901: and it shall be, ifH518 he callH7121 thee, that thou shalt sayH559, SpeakH1696, LORDH3068; for thy servantH5650 heareth. SoH7121 SamuelH8050 wentH413 and layH7901 downH7901 in his placeH4725. 10And the LORDH3068 cameH935, and stoodH3320 and calledH7121 as at otherH6471 timesH6471, SamuelH8050, SamuelH8050. Then SamuelH8050 saidH559, SpeakH1696; for thy servantH5650 heareth. 11And the LORDH3068 saidH559 to SamuelH8050, BeholdH2009, I will doH6213 a thingH1697 in IsraelH3478, at whichH834 bothH8147 the earsH241 of everyH3605 one that heareth it shall tingleH6750. 12In that dayH3117 I will perform againstH413 EliH5941 allH3605 that I have spokenH1696 concerning his houseH1004, from the beginningH2490 evenH853 unto the endH3615. 13For I have toldH5046 him that I will judgeH8199 his houseH1004 for everH5769, for the iniquityH5771 whichH834 he knewH3045, becauseH3588 his sonsH1121 didH834 bringH3045 a curseH7043 upon themselvesH5771, and he restrained them notH3808. 14And therefore I have swornH7650 unto the houseH1004 of EliH5941, that the iniquityH5771 of Eli’sH5941 houseH1004 shall notH518 be purged with sacrificeH2077 norH518 offering for everH5769. 15And SamuelH8050 layH7901 untilH5704 the morningH1242, and openedH6605 the doorsH1817 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. And SamuelH8050 fearedH3372 to shew EliH5941 the visionH4759. 16Then EliH5941 calledH7121 SamuelH8050, and saidH559, SamuelH8050, my sonH1121. And he saidH559, HereH2005 Am I. 17And he saidH559, WhatH4100 is the thingH1697 that the LORD hath spokenH1696 unto thee? I prayH4994 thee hideH3582 it notH408 from meH413: GodH430 doH6213 soH4480 to thee, and moreH4480 also, ifH518 thou hideH3582 anyH3605 thingH1697 from meH413 of allH3605 the things that he spake unto thee. 18And SamuelH8050 toldH5046 him everyH3605 whit, and hidH3582 nothingH3808 from him. And he saidH559, It is the LORDH3068: letH3808 him doH6213 whatH1697 seemeth him goodH2896. 19And SamuelH8050 grewH1431, and the LORDH3068 was with him, and didH3808 letH1961 noneH3808 of his wordsH1697 fallH5307 to the groundH776. 20And allH3605 IsraelH3478 from DanH1835 evenH5704 to Beer-sheba knewH3045 that SamuelH8050 was establishedH539 to be a prophetH5030 of the LORDH3068. 21And the LORDH3068 appearedH7200 againH3254 in ShilohH7887: for the LORDH3068 revealedH1540 himselfH1540 to SamuelH8050 in ShilohH7887 by the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068.
