1 Samuel 29
1Now the PhilistinesH6430 gatheredH6908 togetherH6908 all their hosts to AphekH663: and the Israelites encampedH2583 by the fountain which is in JezreelH3157. 2And the lords of the PhilistinesH6430 passedH5674 on by hundredsH3967, and by thousandsH505; and DavidH1732 and his menH376 passedH5674 on in the rearward with AchishH397. 3Then saidH559 the princesH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430, What do these HebrewsH5680 hereH2088? And AchishH397 saidH559 unto the princesH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430, Is not this DavidH1732, the servantH5650 of SaulH7586 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, who hath beenH1961 with me these daysH3117, or rather these yearsH8141, and I have foundH4672 no fault in him since he fellH5307 away unto me unto this dayH3117? 4But the princesH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 were wroth with him; and the princesH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 saidH559 unto him, Make the manH376 returnH7725, that he may goH3381 backH7725 to his placeH4725 whereH834 thou hast appointedH6485 him, and let him not goH3381 down with us to battleH4421, lest in the battleH4421 he becomeH1961 an adversaryH7854 to us: for wherewith should this fellow reconcile himself unto his lordH113? should it not beH1961 with the headsH7218 of these menH376? 5Is not this DavidH1732, of whom they sang oneH2088 to another in dances, sayingH559,
6Then AchishH397 calledH7121 DavidH1732, and saidH559 unto him, As Jehovah liveth, thou hast been uprightH3477, and thy goingH3318 out and thy comingH935 in with me in the host is goodH2896 in my sight; for I have not foundH4672 evilH7451 in thee since the dayH3117 of thy comingH935 unto me unto this dayH3117: nevertheless the lords favor thee not. 7Wherefore nowH6258 returnH7725, and goH7725 in peaceH7965, that thou displease not the lords of the PhilistinesH6430. 8And DavidH1732 saidH559 unto AchishH397, But what have I done? and what hast thou foundH4672 in thy servantH5650 so long as I have beenH1961 before thee unto this dayH3117, that I may not goH935 and fightH3898 against the enemiesH341 of my lordH113 the kingH4428? 9And AchishH397 answered and saidH559 to DavidH1732, I knowH3045 that thou art goodH2896 in my sight, as an angelH4397 of GodH430: notwithstanding the princesH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 have saidH559, He shall not goH5927 up with us to the battleH4421. 10Wherefore nowH6258 riseH7925 up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 with the servantsH5650 of thy lordH113 that are comeH935 with thee; and as soon as ye are up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and have lightH215, depart. 11So DavidH1732 roseH7925 up earlyH7925, he and his menH376, to depart in the morningH1242, to returnH7725 into the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430. And the PhilistinesH6430 wentH5927 up to JezreelH3157.
