1Now the PhilistinesH6430 had takenH3947 the arkH727 of GodH430, and they broughtH935 it from Eben-ezer unto AshdodH795. 2And the PhilistinesH6430 tookH3947 the arkH727 of GodH430, and broughtH935 it into the houseH1004 of DagonH1712, and set it by DagonH1712. 3And when they of Ashdod arose earlyH7925 on the morrow, behold, DagonH1712 was fallenH5307 upon his faceH6440 to the groundH776 before the arkH727 of Jehovah. And they tookH3947 DagonH1712, and set him in his placeH4725 again. 4And when they arose earlyH7925 on the morrow morningH1242, behold, DagonH1712 was fallenH5307 upon his faceH6440 to the groundH776 before the arkH727 of Jehovah; and the headH7218 of DagonH1712 and both the palmsH3709 of his handsH3027 lay cutH3772 off upon the thresholdH4670; onlyH7535 the stump of DagonH1712 was leftH7604 to him. 5ThereforeH3651 neither the priestsH3548 of DagonH1712, nor any that comeH935 into Dagon’s houseH1004, treadH1869 on the thresholdH4670 of DagonH1712 in AshdodH795, unto this dayH3117.

6But the handH3027 of Jehovah was heavyH3513 upon them of AshdodH795, and he destroyed them, and smote them with tumors, even AshdodH795 and the bordersH1366 thereof. 7And when the menH376 of AshdodH795 sawH7200 that it was soH3651, they saidH559, The arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 shall not abide with us; for his handH3027 is sore upon us, and upon DagonH1712 our godH430. 8They sentH7971 therefore and gatheredH622 all the lords of the PhilistinesH6430 unto them, and saidH559, What shall we do with the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478? And they answered, Let the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 be carried about unto GathH1661. And they carried the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 thither. 9And it wasH1961 so, that, after they had carried it about, the handH3027 of Jehovah wasH1961 against the cityH5892 with a veryH3966 greatH1419 discomfiture: and he smote the menH376 of the cityH5892, both smallH6996 and greatH1419; and tumors brake out upon them. 10So they sentH7971 the arkH727 of GodH430 to EkronH6138. And it cameH935 to pass, as the arkH727 of GodH430 cameH935 to EkronH6138, that the Ekronites criedH2199 out, sayingH559, They have broughtH935 about the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to us, to slay us and our peopleH5971. 11They sentH7971 therefore and gatheredH622 together all the lords of the PhilistinesH6430, and they saidH559, SendH7971 awayH7971 the arkH727 of the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, and let it goH7971 again to its own placeH4725, that it slay us not, and our peopleH5971. For there wasH1961 a deadly discomfiture throughout all the cityH5892; the handH3027 of GodH430 wasH1961 veryH3966 heavyH3513 there. 12And the menH376 that diedH4191 not were smitten with the tumors; and the cryH7775 of the cityH5892 wentH5927 up to heavenH8064.
