Samuel 29

Now the PhilistinesH6430 brought allH3605 their forcesH4264 togetherH6908 at AphekH663, while IsraelH3478 campedH2583 by the springH5869 in JezreelH3157. 2As the PhilistineH6430 leadersH5633 marched out withH5674 their units of hundredsH3967 and thousandsH505, DavidH1732 and his menH582 marchedH5674 behind themH314 withH5973 AchishH397.

Then the commandersH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 askedH559, “WhatH4100 about theseH428 HebrewsH5680?”

AchishH397H413 repliedH559, “Is thisH2088 notH3808 DavidH1732, the servantH5650 of KingH4428 SaulH7586 of IsraelH3478? HeH834 has beenH1961 with meH854 all theseH2088 daysH3117, evenH176 yearsH8141, and fromH3808 the dayH3117 he defectedH5307 until todayH5704H3117H2088 I have foundH4672 no faultH3972 in him.”

But the commandersH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 were angryH7107 with AchishH5921 and toldH559 him, “Send that manH376 backH7725 and let him returnH7725 toH413 the placeH4725 you assignedH6485 himH8033. He must notH3808 go downH3381 with usH5973 into battleH4421 onlyH3808 to becomeH1961 our adversaryH7854 during the warH4421. What better wayH4100 for him to regain the favorH7521H2088H413 of his masterH113 thanH3808 with the headsH7218 of our menH582H1992? 5Is thisH2088 notH3808 the DavidH1732 about whomH834 they singH6030 in their dancesH4246H559:

‘SaulH7586 has slainH5221 his thousandsH505,and DavidH1732 his tens of thousandsH7233’?”

So AchishH397 summonedH7121 DavidH1732 and told himH559H413, “As surely as the LORDH3068H3588 livesH2416, youH859 have been uprightH3477, and it seems rightH2896 in my sightH5869 that you should march in and outH3318H935 with meH854 in the armyH4264, becauseH3588 I have foundH4672 noH3808 faultH7451 in you from the dayH3117 you cameH935 to meH413 untilH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117. But youH859 are notH3808 goodH2896 in the sightH5869 of the leadersH5633. 7Therefore turn backH7725 nowH6258 and goH1980 in peaceH7965, so that you will notH3808 do anythingH6213 to displeaseH5869H7451 the leadersH5633 of the PhilistinesH6430.”

“ButH3588 whatH4100 have I doneH6213?” DavidH1732 repliedH559. “WhatH4100 have you foundH4672 against your servantH5650, from the dayH3117 I cameH1961 to youH6440 until todayH5704H3117H2088, toH3588 keep me fromH3808 going alongH935 to fightH3898 against the enemiesH341 of my lordH113 the kingH4428?”

AchishH397 repliedH6030H559H413, “I knowH3045 thatH3588 youH859 are as pleasingH2896 in my sightH5869 as an angelH4397 of GodH430. ButH389 the commandersH8269 of the PhilistinesH6430 have saidH559, ‘He must notH3808 goH5927 into battleH4421 with usH5973.’ 10Now thenH6258, get up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, along with your master’sH113 servantsH5650 whoH834 cameH935 with youH854, and goH1980 as soon asH7925H1242 it is lightH215.”

So DavidH1732H1931 and his menH582H1980 got up earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 to returnH7725 toH413 the landH776 of the PhilistinesH6430. And the PhilistinesH6430 went upH5927 to JezreelH3157.
