1 John 3:11-24

11 1For thisG3778 is the messageG31 2whichG3739 you have heardG191 from the beginningG746, 3that we are to loveG25 oneG240 anotherG240; 12not as 4CainG2535, who was of 5the evilG4190 oneG4190 and murderedG4969 his brotherG80. And for whatG5101 reasonG5484 did he murderG4969 him? BecauseG3754 6his own deedsG2041 were evilG4190, but his brother’sG80 were righteousG1342.

13Do not beG2296 surprisedG2296, brothersG80 and sisters, ifG1487 7the worldG2889 hatesG3404 you. 14We knowG3609 that we have 8passedG3327 out of deathG2288 into lifeG2222, 9becauseG3754 we loveG25 the brothersG80 and sisters. The one who does not loveG25 remainsG3306 in deathG2288. 15EveryoneG3956 who 10hatesG3404 his brotherG80 or sister is a murdererG443, and you knowG3609 that 11noG3956 G3756 murdererG443 hasG2192 eternalG166 lifeG2222 remainingG3306 in him. 16We knowG1097 loveG26 by thisG3778, that 12He laidG5087 downG5087 His lifeG5590 for us; and 13we oughtG3784 to layG5087 downG5087 our livesG5590 for the 14brothersG80 and sisters. 17But 15whoeverG3739 G302 hasG2192 worldlyG2889 goodsG979 and seesG2334 his brotherG80 or sister in needG5532, and 16closesG2808 his 17heartG4698 18againstG575 him, 19howG4459 does the loveG26 of GodG2316 remainG3306 in him? 18 20LittleG5040 childrenG5040, let’s not loveG25 with wordG3056 orG3366 with tongueG1100, but in deedG2041 and 21truthG225. 19We will knowG1097 by thisG3778 that we are 22of the truthG225, and will setG3982 our heartG2588 atG3982 easeG3982 beforeG1715 Him, 20that ifG1437 our heartG2588 condemnsG2607 us, that GodG2316 is greaterG3173 than our heartG2588, and He knowsG1097 allG3956 thingsG3956. 21 23BelovedG27, ifG1437 our heartG2588 does not condemnG2607 us, we haveG2192 24confidenceG3954 25beforeG4314 GodG2316; 22and 26whateverG3739 G1437 we askG154, we receiveG2983 from Him, becauseG3754 we 27keepG5083 His commandmentsG1785 and doG4160 28the things that are pleasingG701 inG1799 His sightG1799.

23ThisG3778 is His commandmentG1785, that we 29 30believeG4100 in 31the nameG3686 of His SonG5207 JesusG2424 ChristG5547, and loveG25 oneG240 anotherG240, justG2531 asG2531 32He 33commandedG1325 G1785 us. 24The one who 34keepsG5083 His commandmentsG1785 35remainsG3306 in Him, and He in him. 36We knowG1097 by thisG3778 that 37He remainsG3306 in us, by the SpiritG4151 whomG3739 He has givenG1325 us.
