Romans 7:5-17
5For whileG3753 we were 1in the fleshG4561, the sinfulG266 passionsG3804, which were 2aroused by the LawG3551, were at workG1754 3in 4the membersG3196 of our body to bearG2592 fruitG2592 for deathG2288. 6But nowG3570 we have been 5releasedG2673 from the LawG3551, having 6diedG599 to that by whichG3739 we were boundG2722, soG5620 that we serveG1398 in 7newnessG2538 of 8the 9SpiritG4151 and not in oldnessG3821 of the letterG1121.
710WhatG5101 shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? Is the LawG3551 sinG266? 11May it neverG3361 be! On the contraryG235, 12I would not have come to knowG1097 sinG266 exceptG1508 13throughG1223 the LawG3551; for I would not have knownG3609 aboutG3609 14covetingG1939 ifG1487 the LawG3551 had not saidG3004, “15You shall not 16covetG1937.” 8But sinG266, 17takingG2983 opportunityG874 18throughG1223 the commandmentG1785, producedG2716 in me 19covetingG1939 of everyG3956 kindG3956; for 20apartG5565 21from the LawG3551 sinG266 is deadG3498. 9I was onceG4218 aliveG2198 apartG5565 22from the LawG3551; but when the commandmentG1785 cameG2064, sinG266 becameG326 aliveG326 and I diedG599; 10and thisG3778 commandmentG1785, which was 2324to resultG1519 in lifeG2222, provedG2147 25to resultG1519 in deathG2288 for me; 11for sinG266, 26takingG2983 an opportunityG874 27throughG1223 the commandmentG1785, 28deceivedG1818 me and throughG1223 it killedG615 me. 1229SoG5620 thenG5620, the LawG3551 is holyG40, and the commandmentG1785 is holyG40 and righteousG1342 and goodG18.
13ThereforeG3767 did that whichG18 is goodG18 becomeG1096 a cause of deathG2288 for me? 30May it neverG3361 be! RatherG235 it was sinG266, in orderG2443 that it might be shownG5316 to be sinG266 by effectingG2716 my deathG2288 throughG1223 that whichG18 is goodG18, soG2443 that throughG1223 the commandmentG1785 sinG266 would becomeG1096 utterlyG5236 sinfulG266.
14For we knowG3609 that the LawG3551 is 31spiritualG4152, but I amG1510 32of fleshG4560, 33soldG4097 3435into bondage to sinG266. 15For whatG3739 I am doingG2716, 36I do not understandG1097; for I am not practicingG4238 37whatG3739 I would likeG2309 to do, but I am doingG4160 the veryG3778 thingG3739 I hateG3404. 16But ifG1487 I doG4160 the veryG3778 thingG3778 I do not wantG2309 to do, I agreeG4852 with 38the LawG3551, confessing that the LawG3551 is goodG2570. 17SoG1161 nowG3570, 39noG3765 longerG3765 am I the one doingG2716 it, but sinG266 which dwellsG1774 in me.
