Romans 10
The Word of Faith Brings Salvation
1Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation. 2For I testify about them that they have 1a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. 3For not knowing about 2God’s righteousness and 3seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God. 4For 4Christ is the 5end of the law for righteousness to 6everyone who believes.
5For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is 7based on law 8shall live 9by that righteousness. 6But 10the righteousness 11based on faith speaks as follows: “12Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ (that is, to bring Christ down), 7or ‘Who will descend into the 13abyss?’ (that is, to 14bring Christ up from the dead).” 8But what does it say? “15The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”--that is, the word of faith which we are preaching, 916that 17if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and 18believe in your heart that 19God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10for with the heart a person believes, 20resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, 21resulting in salvation. 11For the Scripture says, “22Whoever believes in Him will not be 23disappointed.” 12For 24there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is 25Lord of 26all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13for “27Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him 28whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without 29a preacher? 15How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “30How beautiful are the feet of those who 3132bring good news of good things!”
16However, they 33did not all heed the 34good news; for Isaiah says, “35Lord, who has believed our report?” 17So faith comes from 36hearing, and hearing by 37the word 38of Christ.
18But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; “39Their voice has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the ends of the 40world.” 19But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, “41I will 42make you jealous by that which is not a nation, By a nation without understanding will I anger you.” 20And Isaiah is very bold and says, “43I was found by those who did not seek Me, I became manifest to those who did not ask for Me.” 21But as for Israel He says, “44All the day long I have stretched out My hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.”
