Joshua 6
Darby Bible
1Now JerichoH3405 was shutH5462 up and was barred, because of the children of IsraelH3478: none wentH3318 out, and none cameH935 in. 2And Jehovah saidH559 to JoshuaH3091, SeeH7200, I have givenH5414 into thy handH3027 JerichoH3405, and the kingH4428 thereof, [and] the valiant menH1368. 3And ye shall goH5437 roundH5437 the cityH5892, all the menH376 of warH4421, encompassing the cityH5892 once. ThusH3541 shalt thou do sixH8337 daysH3117. 4And sevenH7651 priestsH3548 shall carryH5375 before the arkH727 sevenH7651 blast-trumpets; and on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 ye shall goH5437 roundH5437 the cityH5892 sevenH7651 timesH6471, and the priestsH3548 shall blowH8628 with the trumpetsH7782. 5And it shall come to pass when they makeH8085 a long blast with the blast-horn, that all the peopleH5971 on hearingH8085 the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782 shall shoutH7321 with a greatH1419 shoutH7321; and the wallH2346 of the cityH5892 shall fallH5307 flat, and the peopleH5971 shall goH5927 up, each oneH376 straight before him. 6And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 calledH7121 the priestsH3548, and saidH559 to them, CarryH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285, and sevenH7651 priestsH3548 shall carryH5375 sevenH7651 blast-trumpets before the arkH727 of Jehovah. 7And he saidH559 to the peopleH5971, PassH5674 on, goH5437 roundH5437 the cityH5892, and they that are armedH2502 shall passH5674 on before the arkH727 of Jehovah. 8And it came to passH5674 when JoshuaH3091 had spoken to the peopleH5971, that the sevenH7651 priestsH3548 carryingH5375 the sevenH7651 blast-trumpets before Jehovah passedH5674 on and blew with the trumpetsH7782; and the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of Jehovah wentH1980 after them. 9And the armedH2502 men wentH1980 before the priestsH3548 who blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782, and the rearguard cameH1980 after the arkH727; they blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782 in marching. 10And JoshuaH3091 had commandedH6680 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Ye shall not shoutH7321, nor let your voiceH6963 be heardH8085, neither shall a wordH1697 proceed out of your mouthH6310, until the dayH3117 I sayH559 to you, ShoutH7321; then shall ye shoutH7321. 11And the arkH727 of Jehovah wentH935 roundH5437 the cityH5892, encompassing [it] once; and they cameH935 into the campH4264, and lodged in the campH4264. 12And JoshuaH3091 roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and the priestsH3548 carriedH5375 the arkH727 of Jehovah. 13And the sevenH7651 priestsH3548 carryingH5375 the sevenH7651 blast-trumpets before the arkH727 of Jehovah wentH1980 on and blew continually with the trumpetsH7782; and the armedH2502 men wentH1980 before them, and the rearguard wentH1980 after the arkH727 of Jehovah; they blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782 in marching. 14And on the secondH8145 dayH3117 they wentH7725 roundH5437 the cityH5892 once, and returnedH7725 into the campH4264. So they did sixH8337 daysH3117. 15And it wasH1961 so that on the seventhH7637 dayH3117 they roseH7925 earlyH7925, about the morning-dawn, and wentH5927 roundH5437 the cityH5892 after the same manner sevenH7651 timesH6471; onlyH7535 on that dayH3117 they wentH5927 roundH5437 the cityH5892 sevenH7651 timesH6471. 16And it came to pass the seventhH7637 timeH6471, when the priestsH3548 blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782, that JoshuaH3091 saidH559 to the peopleH5971, ShoutH7321; for Jehovah has givenH5414 you the cityH5892. 17And the cityH5892 shall beH1961 accursed, it and all that is in it, to Jehovah; onlyH7535 RahabH7343 the harlot shall liveH2421, she and all that are with her in the houseH1004, because she hidH2244 the messengersH4397 that we sentH7971. 18But in any wise keepH8104 from the accursed thing, lestH6435 ye makeH7760 [yourselves] accursed in takingH3947 of the accursed thing, and makeH7760 the campH4264 of IsraelH3478 a curse, and troubleH5916 it. 19And all the silverH3701, and goldH2091, and vesselsH3627 of copperH5178 and ironH1270, shall be holyH6944 to Jehovah; they shall comeH935 into the treasuryH214 of Jehovah. 20And the peopleH5971 shoutedH7321, and they blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782. And it came to pass when the peopleH5971 heardH8085 the soundH6963 of the trumpetsH7782, and the peopleH5971 shoutedH7321 with a greatH1419 shoutH7321, that the wallH2346 fellH5307 downH5307 flat; and the peopleH5971 wentH5927 up into the cityH5892, each oneH376 straight before him, and they tookH3920 the cityH5892. 21And they utterly destroyed all that was in the cityH5892; both manH376 and womanH802, youngH5288 and oldH2205, and oxH7794, and sheepH7716, and ass, with the edge of the swordH2719. 22And JoshuaH3091 saidH559 to the twoH8147 menH376 that had spiedH7270 out the country, GoH3318 into the harlot's houseH1004 and bringH935 out thence the womanH802, and all that she has, as ye sworeH7650 unto her. 23And the youngH5288 menH5288, the spiesH7270, wentH3318 in and broughtH935 out RahabH7343, and her fatherH1, and her motherH517, and her brethren, and all that she had: all her kindred did they bringH935 out, and they left them outside the campH4264 of IsraelH3478. 24And they burnedH8313 the cityH5892 with fireH784, and all that was therein; onlyH7535 the silverH3701, and the goldH2091, and the vesselsH3627 of copperH5178 and of ironH1270, they putH5414 into the treasuryH214 of the houseH1004 of Jehovah. 25And JoshuaH3091 saved aliveH2421 RahabH7343 the harlot, and her father's householdH1004, and all that she had, and she dweltH3427 in the midstH7130 of IsraelH3478 to this dayH3117; because she hidH2244 the messengersH4397 whom JoshuaH3091 had sentH7971 to spyH7270 out JerichoH3405. 26And JoshuaH3091 sworeH7650 at that timeH6256, sayingH559, CursedH779 be the manH376 before Jehovah who shall riseH6965 up and buildH1129 this cityH5892 JerichoH3405! In his first-born shall he lay its foundation, and in his youngestH6810 sonH6810 shall he setH6965 up its gates. 27And Jehovah wasH1961 with JoshuaH3091; and his fame wasH1961 in all the landH776.
