Joshua 17
Darby Bible
1And the lotH1486 came to the tribeH4294 of ManassehH4519 (for he wasH1961 the firstbornH1060 of JosephH3130), to Machir, the firstbornH1060 of ManassehH4519, the fatherH1 of GileadH1568, for he wasH1961 a manH376 of warH4421, and he had GileadH1568 and BashanH1316. 2There wasH1961 also [a portion] for the rest of the children of ManassehH4519 according to their familiesH4940: for the children of AbiezerH44, and for the children of HelekH2507, and for the children of AsrielH844, and for the children of ShechemH7928, and for the children of HepherH2660, and for the children of ShemidaH8061: these are the children of ManassehH4519, the sonH1121 of JosephH3130, the malesH2145, according to their familiesH4940. 3And ZelophehadH6765, the sonH1121 of HepherH2660, the sonH1121 of GileadH1568, the sonH1121 of Machir, the sonH1121 of ManassehH4519, had no sonsH1121, but daughtersH1323; and these are the namesH8034 of his daughtersH1323: MahlahH4244, and NoahH5270, HoglahH2295, MilcahH4435, and TirzahH8656. 4And they came near before EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and before JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and before the princesH5387, sayingH559, Jehovah commandedH6680 MosesH4872 to giveH5414 us an inheritanceH5159 among our brethren. And he gaveH5414 them according to the commandment of Jehovah an inheritanceH5159 among the brethren of their fatherH1. 5And there fellH5307 tenH6235 portionsH2256 to ManassehH4519, besides the landH776 of GileadH1568 and BashanH1316, which are beyond the JordanH3383. 6For the daughtersH1323 of ManassehH4519 received an inheritanceH5159 among his sonsH1121; and the rest of Manasseh's sonsH1121 had the landH776 of GileadH1568. 7And the territoryH1366 of ManassehH4519 wasH1961 from AsherH836 to Micmethath, which is before ShechemH7927, and the borderH1366 wentH1980 on the rightH3225 handH3225 toward the inhabitantsH3427 of En-Tappuah. 8ManassehH4519 had the landH776 of TappuahH8599; but TappuahH8599 on the borderH1366 of ManassehH4519 belongedH1961 to the children of EphraimH669. 9And the borderH1366 descended to the torrent KanahH7071, southH5045 of the torrent. These citiesH5892 wereH1961 Ephraim's among the citiesH5892 of ManassehH4519. And the territoryH1366 of ManassehH4519 wasH1961 on the northH6828 side of the torrent, and ended at the seaH3220. 10Southward it wasH1961 Ephraim's, and northward it wasH1961 Manasseh's, and the seaH3220 wasH1961 his borderH1366. And they touchedH6293 upon AsherH836 on the northH6828, and upon IssacharH3485 on the eastH4217. 11And ManassehH4519 had in IssacharH3485 and in AsherH836, Beth-sheanH1052 and its dependent villages, and IbleamH2991 and its dependent villages, and the inhabitantsH3427 of DorH1756 and its dependent villages, and the inhabitantsH3427 of En-DorH5874 and its dependent villages, and the inhabitantsH3427 of TaanachH8590 and its dependent villages, and the inhabitantsH3427 of MegiddoH4023 and its dependent villages, the threeH7969 hilly regions. 12But the children of ManassehH4519 could not dispossessH3423 [the inhabitantsH3427 of] those citiesH5892; and the CanaanitesH3669 would dwellH3427 in that landH776. 13And it came to pass when the children of IsraelH3478 wereH1961 becomeH1961 strongH2388, that they madeH5414 the CanaanitesH3669 tributary; but they did not utterly dispossessH3423 them. 14And the children of JosephH3130 spokeH1696 to JoshuaH3091, sayingH559, WhyH4069 hast thou givenH5414 me as inheritanceH5159 oneH259 lotH1486 and oneH259 portionH1486, seeing I am a greatH7227 peopleH5971, forasmuch as Jehovah has blessedH1288 me hitherto? 15And JoshuaH3091 saidH559 unto them, If thou art a greatH7227 peopleH5971, then get thee up to the wood, and cut down for thyself there in the landH776 of the Perizzites and of the giants, if the hill-country of EphraimH669 is tooH7227 narrow for thee. 16And the children of JosephH3130 saidH559, The hill-country will not be enough for us; and all the CanaanitesH3669 that dwellH3427 in the landH776 of the valleyH6010 have chariotsH7393 of ironH1270, those that are of Beth-sheanH1052 and its dependent villages, and those that are in the valleyH6010 of Jizreel. 17And JoshuaH3091 spoke to the houseH1004 of JosephH3130, to EphraimH669 and to ManassehH4519, sayingH559, Thou art a greatH1419 peopleH5971, and hast greatH1419 powerH3581: thou shalt not have oneH259 lotH1486 only, 18but the hill-country shall beH1961 thine, as it is a wood, thou shalt cut it down, and its outgoings shall beH1961 thine; for thou shalt dispossessH3423 the CanaanitesH3669, though they have ironH1270 chariotsH7393; for they are powerful.
