Joshua 11
Darby Bible
1And it came to pass when JabinH2985 kingH4428 of HazorH2674 heardH8085 [this], that he sentH7971 to JobabH3103 kingH4428 of MadonH4068, and to the kingH4428 of ShimronH8110, and to the kingH4428 of Achshaph, 2and to the kingsH4428 that were northward in the mountainsH2022, and in the plainH6160 southH5045 of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and on the upland of DorH1756 on the westH3220, 3to the CanaaniteH3669 on the eastH4217 and on the westH3220, and to the AmoriteH567, and the HittiteH2850, and the PerizziteH6522, and the JebusiteH2983 in the mountainsH2022, and to the HiviteH2340 at the foot of HermonH2768 in the landH776 of MizpahH4709. 4And they wentH3318 out, they and all their armiesH4264 with them, a peopleH5971 numerousH7230 as the sandH2344 that is on the seashore in multitudeH7230, with horsesH5483 and chariotsH7393 veryH3966 manyH7227. 5And all these kingsH4428 met togetherH3162, and cameH935 and encampedH2583 togetherH3162 at the watersH4325 of MeromH4792, to fightH3898 against IsraelH3478. 6And Jehovah saidH559 to JoshuaH3091, Be not afraidH3372 because of them; for to-morrow about this timeH6256 will I giveH5414 them all up slainH2491 before IsraelH3478: their horsesH5483 shalt thou hough, and thou shalt burnH8313 their chariotsH4818 with fireH784. 7And JoshuaH3091, and all the peopleH5971 of warH4421 with him, cameH935 upon them by the watersH4325 of MeromH4792 suddenlyH6597, and fellH5307 upon them. 8And Jehovah delivered them into the handH3027 of IsraelH3478, and they smote them, and chased them unto greatH7227 Zidon, and to Misrephoth-maimH4956, and to the valleyH1237 of MizpahH4708 eastward, and smote them until none were leftH7604 remainingH7604 to them. 9And JoshuaH3091 did to them as Jehovah had saidH559 to him: he houghed their horsesH5483, and burnedH8313 their chariotsH4818 with fireH784. 10And JoshuaH3091 turnedH7725 backH7725 at that timeH6256, and tookH3920 HazorH2674, and smote the kingH4428 thereof with the swordH2719; for HazorH2674 was in timesH6256 past the headH7218 of all those kingdomsH4467. 11And they smote all the soulsH5315 that were therein with the edge of the swordH2719, destroying them utterly: there was not any leftH3498 to breathe; and he burnedH8313 HazorH2674 with fireH784. 12And all the citiesH5892 of those kingsH4428 and all their kingsH4428 did JoshuaH3091 takeH3920; and he smote them with the edge of the swordH2719, destroying them utterly, as MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of Jehovah had commandedH6680. 13OnlyH7535, all the citiesH5892 that stoodH5975 stillH5975 upon their hills IsraelH3478 did not burnH8313, save HazorH2674 aloneH905, [which] JoshuaH3091 burnedH8313. 14And all the spoilH7998 of these citiesH5892 and the cattleH929 the children of IsraelH3478 took as prey to themselves; onlyH7535, they smote all the menH120 with the edge of the swordH2719, until they had destroyedH8045 them: they leftH7604 none that breathed. 15As Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872 his servantH5650, soH3651 did MosesH4872 commandH6680 JoshuaH3091, and soH3651 did JoshuaH3091: he let nothing fail of all that Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872. 16And JoshuaH3091 tookH3947 all that landH776, the mountainH2022 and all the southH5045, and all the landH776 of GoshenH1657, and the lowland, and the plainH6160, and the mountainH2022 of IsraelH3478, and its lowland; 17from the smooth mountainH2022, which rises toward SeirH8165, as far as Baal-GadH1171 in the valleyH1237 of LebanonH3844, at the foot of mount HermonH2768; and he tookH3920 all their kingsH4428, and smote them, and putH4191 them to deathH4191. 18JoshuaH3091 madeH6213 warH4421 a long time with all those kingsH4428. 19There wasH1961 not a cityH5892 that made peace with the children of IsraelH3478, save the Hivites who dweltH3427 at GibeonH1391; they tookH3947 all in battleH4421. 20For it wasH1961 of Jehovah that their heartH3820 wasH1961 hardened, to meet IsraelH3478 in battleH4421, that they might beH1961 utterly destroyedH8045, and that there might beH1961 no favour shewn to them, but that they might beH1961 destroyedH8045, as Jehovah had commandedH6680 MosesH4872. 21And JoshuaH3091 cameH935 at that timeH6256 and cutH3772 off the Anakim from the mountainsH2022, from HebronH2275, from DebirH1688, from AnabH6024, and from all the mountainH2022 of JudahH3063, and from all the mountainH2022 of IsraelH3478: JoshuaH3091 destroyed them utterly, with their citiesH5892. 22There were none of the Anakim leftH7604 in the landH776 of the children of IsraelH3478; onlyH7535 at Gazah, at GathH1661, and at AshdodH795 there remainedH7604. 23And JoshuaH3091 tookH3947 the whole landH776, according to all that Jehovah had saidH1696 to MosesH4872; and JoshuaH3091 gaveH5414 it for an inheritanceH5159 to IsraelH3478 according to their divisionsH4256, by their tribesH7626. And the landH776 rested from warH4421.
