Joshua 6
Revised Version 1895
1(NOWH935 JerichoH3405 was straitly shutH5462 upH5462 becauseH6440 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478: noneH369 wentH3318 outH3318, and noneH369 cameH935 in.) 2And the LORDH3068 saidH559 unto JoshuaH3091, SeeH7200, I have givenH5414 intoH413 thine handH3027 JerichoH3405, and the kingH4428 thereof, and the mightyH1368 menH1368 of valour. 3And ye shall compass the cityH5892, allH3605 the menH376 of warH4421, going aboutH5437 the cityH5892 onceH259. ThusH3541 shalt thou doH6213 sixH8337 daysH3117. 4And sevenH7651 priestsH3548 shall bearH5375 sevenH7651 trumpetsH7782 of rams’H3104 hornsH7782 beforeH6440 the arkH727: and the seventhH7637 dayH3117 ye shall compass the cityH5892 sevenH7651 timesH6471, and the priestsH3548 shall blowH8628 with the trumpetsH7782. 5And it shall be, that when they makeH8085 a longH4900 blastH4900 with the ram’sH3104 hornH7161, and when ye hearH8085 the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782, allH3605 the peopleH5971 shall shoutH7321 with a greatH1419 shoutH7321; and the wallH2346 of the cityH5892 shall fallH5307 downH5307 flatH8478, and the peopleH5971 shall goH5927 upH5927 everyH3605 manH376 straightH5048 beforeH5048 him. 6And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 calledH7121 the priestsH3548, and saidH559 unto them, TakeH5375 upH5375 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285, and let sevenH7651 priestsH3548 bearH5375 sevenH7651 trumpetsH7782 of rams’H3104 hornsH7782 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068. 7And they saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, PassH5674 on, and compass the cityH5892, and let the armedH2502 menH5971 passH5674 on beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068. 8And it was soH1980, that when JoshuaH3091 had spokenH559 unto the peopleH5971, the sevenH7651 priestsH3548 bearingH5375 the sevenH7651 trumpetsH7782 of rams’H3104 hornsH7782 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 passedH5674 on, and blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782: and the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 followedH310 them. 9And the armedH2502 menH1980 wentH1980 beforeH6440 the priestsH3548 that blewH8628 the trumpetsH7782, and the rearward wentH1980 afterH310 the arkH727, the priestsH3548 blowingH8628 with the trumpetsH7782 as they wentH1980. 10And JoshuaH3091 commandedH6680 the peopleH5971, sayingH559, Ye shall notH3808 shoutH7321, norH3808 letH3808 your voiceH6963 be heardH8085, neitherH3808 shall anyH3318 wordH1697 proceedH3318 outH3318 of your mouthH6310, untilH5704 the dayH3117 I bid youH6680 shoutH7321; then shall ye shoutH7321. 11SoH935 he caused the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 to compass the cityH5892, goingH935 aboutH5437 it onceH259: and they cameH935 intoH935 the campH4264, and lodged in the campH4264. 12And JoshuaH3091 roseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242, and the priestsH3548 tookH5375 upH5375 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068. 13And the sevenH7651 priestsH3548 bearingH5375 the sevenH7651 trumpetsH7782 of rams’H3104 hornsH7782 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068 wentH1980 on continuallyH1980, and blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782; and the armedH2502 menH1980 wentH1980 beforeH6440 them; and the rearward cameH1980 afterH310 the arkH727 of the LORDH3068, the priestsH3548 blowingH8628 with the trumpetsH7782 as they wentH1980. 14And the secondH8145 dayH3117 they compassed the cityH5892 onceH259, and returnedH7725 intoH7725 the campH4264: soH6213 they didH6213 sixH8337 daysH3117. 15And it cameH1961 to passH1961 on the seventhH7637 dayH3117, that they roseH7925 earlyH7925 at the dawningH7837 of the dayH3117, and compassed the cityH5892 afterH1961 the sameH1931 mannerH4941 sevenH7651 timesH6471: onlyH7535 on that dayH3117 they compassed the cityH5892 sevenH7651 timesH6471. 16And it cameH1961 to passH1961 at the seventhH7637 time, when the priestsH3548 blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782, JoshuaH3091 saidH559 unto the peopleH5971, ShoutH7321; for the LORDH3068 hath givenH5414 youH3588 the cityH5892. 17And the cityH5892 shall be devotedH2764, evenH3588 it and allH3605 that is therein, to the LORDH3068: onlyH7535 RahabH7343 the harlotH2181 shall liveH2421, sheH1931 and allH3605 that are with herH3605 in the houseH1004, becauseH3588 sheH1931 hidH2244 the messengersH4397 that weH3588 sentH7971. 18And ye, in anyH4480 wise keepH8104 yourselves from the devotedH2764 thing, lestH6435 when ye have devotedH2764 it, ye takeH3947 of the devotedH2764 thing; soH4480 should ye makeH7760 the campH4264 of IsraelH3478 accursed, and troubleH5916 it. 19But allH3605 the silverH3701, and goldH2091, and vesselsH3627 of brassH5178 and ironH1270, are holyH6944 unto the LORDH3068: they shall comeH935 intoH935 the treasuryH214 of the LORDH3068. 20SoH1961 the peopleH5971 shoutedH7321, and the priests blewH8628 with the trumpetsH7782: and it cameH1961 to passH1961, when the peopleH5971 heardH8085 the soundH6963 of the trumpetH7782, that the peopleH5971 shoutedH7321 with a greatH1419 shoutH7321, and the wallH2346 fellH5307 downH5307 flatH8478, soH1961 that the peopleH5971 wentH5927 upH5927 intoH376 the cityH5892, everyH376 manH376 straightH5048 beforeH5048 him, and they tookH3920 the cityH5892. 21And they utterly destroyed allH3605 that was in the cityH5892, bothH3605 manH376 and womanH802, bothH3605 youngH5288 and oldH2205, and oxH7794, and sheepH7716, and ass, with the edgeH6310 of the swordH2719. 22And JoshuaH3091 saidH559 unto the twoH8147 menH376 that had spiedH7270 outH3318 the landH776, GoH3318 intoH935 the harlot’sH2181 houseH1004, and bringH935 outH3318 thence the womanH802, and allH3605 that sheH834 hath, as ye sware unto herH3605. 23And the youngH5288 menH5288 the spiesH7270 wentH3318 in, and broughtH935 outH3318 RahabH7343, and herH3605 fatherH1, and herH3605 motherH517, and herH3605 brethrenH251, and allH3605 that sheH834 had, allH3605 herH3605 kindred also they broughtH935 outH3318; and they setH935 them without the campH4264 of IsraelH3478. 24And they burntH8313 the cityH5892 with fireH784, and allH3605 that was therein: onlyH7535 the silverH3701, and the goldH2091, and the vesselsH3627 of brassH5178 and of ironH1270, they putH5414 intoH5414 the treasuryH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. 25But RahabH7343 the harlotH2181, and herH3605 father’sH1 householdH1004, and allH3605 that sheH834 had, didH834 JoshuaH3091 save aliveH2421; and sheH834 dweltH3427 in the midstH7130 of IsraelH3478, unto this dayH3117; becauseH3588 sheH834 hidH2244 the messengersH4397, whichH834 JoshuaH3091 sentH7971 to spyH7270 outH7971 JerichoH3405. 26And JoshuaH3091 charged them with an oathH7650 at that time, sayingH559, CursedH779 be the manH376 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, that riseth upH6965 and buildeth this cityH5892 JerichoH3405: with the loss of his firstbornH1060 shall he layH3245 the foundationH3245 thereof, and with the loss of his youngestH6810 sonH6810 shall he setH6965 upH6965 the gatesH1817 of it. 27SoH1961 the LORDH3068 was with JoshuaH3091; and his fameH8089 was in allH3605 the landH776.
