Joshua 20:2-6
SpeakH1696 to the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, Appoint for yourselves the citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, whereof I spokeH1696 unto you through MosesH4872,
that the slayer who unwittingly without intent smiteth any one mortally may fleeH5127 thither: and they shall beH1961 your refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818.
And he shall fleeH5127 unto oneH259 of those citiesH5892 and standH5975 at the entranceH6607 of the city-gate, and shall declare his matterH1697 in the earsH241 of the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892; and they shall take him into the cityH5892 unto them, and giveH5414 him a placeH4725, that he may dwellH3427 among them.
And if the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 pursueH7291 after him, they shall not deliverH5462 the slayer up into his handH3027; for he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hatedH8130 him not previously.
And he shall dwellH3427 in that cityH5892, until he have stoodH5975 before the assemblyH5712 in judgmentH4941, until the deathH4194 of the high-priest that shall beH1961 in those daysH3117; thenH227 shall the slayer returnH7725, and comeH935 unto his own cityH5892, and unto his own houseH1004, unto the cityH5892 from whence he fledH5127.
