Joshua 20:2-6
2SpeakH1696 to the children of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, Assign you the citiesH5892 of refugeH4733, whereof I spake unto you by MosesH4872, 3that the manslayer that killeth any personH5315 unwittingly and unawares may fleeH5127 thither: and they shall beH1961 unto you for a refugeH4733 from the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818. 4And he shall fleeH5127 unto oneH259 of those citiesH5892, and shall standH5975 at the entranceH6607 of the gateH8179 of the cityH5892, and declare his cause in the earsH241 of the eldersH2205 of that cityH5892; and they shall take him into the cityH5892 unto them, and giveH5414 him a placeH4725, that he may dwellH3427 among them. 5And if the avengerH1350 of bloodH1818 pursueH7291 after him, then they shall not deliverH5462 up the manslayer into his handH3027; because he smote his neighborH7453 unawares, and hatedH8130 him not beforetime. 6And he shall dwellH3427 in that cityH5892, until he standH5975 before the congregationH5712 for judgmentH4941, until the deathH4194 of the high priestH3548 that shall beH1961 in those daysH3117: thenH227 shall the manslayer returnH7725, and comeH935 unto his own cityH5892, and unto his own houseH1004, unto the cityH5892 from whence he fledH5127.
