1 Peter 2:6-25
6Because it is contained in the scriptureG1124: BeholdG2400, I lay in ZionG4622 a corner stoneG3037, electG1588, preciousG1784: and he that believesG4100 on him shall not be putG5087 to shameG2617. 7To you thereforeG3767 who believeG4100 [is] the preciousness; but to the disobedient, the stoneG3037 which the builders cast away as worthless, this is becomeG1096 headG2776 of [the] cornerG1137, 8and a stoneG3037 of stumbling and rockG4073 of offence; [who] stumble at the wordG3056, being disobedientG544 to which alsoG2532 they have been appointedG5087. 9But ye [are] a chosen raceG1085, a kingly priesthoodG2406, a holyG40 nationG1484, a peopleG2992 for a possessionG4047, that ye might set forth the excellencies of him who has calledG2564 you out of darknessG4655 to his wonderful lightG5457; 10who onceG4218 [were] not a peopleG2992, but nowG1161 1God's peopleG2992; who were not enjoying mercyG1653, but nowG1161 have found mercyG1653. 11BelovedG27, I exhortG3870 [you], as strangers and sojourners, to abstainG568 from fleshlyG4559 lustsG1939, which warG4754 against the soulG5590; 12having your conversation honest among the GentilesG1484, that [as to that] in which they speakG2635 against you as evildoersG2555, they may through [your] goodG2570 worksG2041, [themselves] witnessing [them], glorifyG1392 2GodG2316 in [the] dayG2250 of visitationG1984. 13Be in subjectionG5293 [therefore] to every humanG442 institution for the Lord's sakeG1223; whether to [the] kingG935 as supreme, 14or to rulers as sentG3992 by him, for vengeanceG1557 on evildoersG2555, and praiseG1868 to them that do well. 15Because soG3779 isG1510 the will of 3GodG2316, that by well-doing ye put to silence the ignoranceG56 of senseless menG444; 16as freeG1658, and not as having liberty as a cloak of maliceG2549, but as 4God's bondmen. 17Shew honour to all, loveG25 the brotherhoodG81, fearG5399 5GodG2316, honour the kingG935. 18Servants, [be] subjectG5293 with all fearG5401 to your mastersG1203, not onlyG3440 to the goodG18 and gentleG1933, but alsoG2532 to the ill-tempered. 19For this [is] acceptable, if oneG5100, for conscienceG4893 sakeG1223 towards 6GodG2316, endure griefs, sufferingG3958 unjustly. 20For what glory [is it], if sinningG264 and being buffeted ye shall bear [it]? but if, doing goodG15 and sufferingG3958, ye shall bear [it], this is acceptable with 7GodG2316. 21For to this have ye been calledG2564; for ChristG5547 alsoG2532 has sufferedG3958 for you, leaving you a model that ye should follow in his stepsG2487: 22who did no sinG266, neither was guile foundG2147 in his mouthG4750; 23who, [when] reviled, reviled not again; [when] sufferingG3958, threatened not; but gave [himself] over into the handsG3860 of him who judgesG2919 righteouslyG1346; 24who himself bore our sinsG266 in his bodyG4983 on the treeG3586, in orderG2443 that, being dead to sinsG266, we may liveG2198 to righteousnessG1343: by whose stripes ye have been healedG2390. 25For ye wereG1510 going astrayG4105 as sheepG4263, but have nowG3568 returnedG1994 to the shepherdG4166 and overseerG1985 of your soulsG5590.
