1 Thessalonians 2 1 For ye know yourselves , brethren , our entering in which [ we had ] to you , that it has not been in vain κενὴ kenē G2756 ; 2 but , having suffered before and been insulted, even G2532 as ye know , in Philippi Φιλίπποις, Philippois G5375 , we were bold in our God θεῷ theō G2316 to speak λαλῆσαι lalēsai G2980 unto you the glad tidings of God θεοῦ theou G2316 with much πολλῷ pollō G4183 earnest striving. 3 For our exhortation παράκλησις paraklēsis G3874 [ was ] not of deceit G1388 , nor of uncleanness , nor in guile; 4 but even as we have been approved of God θεοῦ theou G2316 to have the glad tidings entrusted πιστευθῆναι pisteuthēnai G4100 to us, so we speak λαλοῦμεν, laloumen G2980 ; not as pleasing ἀρέσκοντες areskontes G700 men G444 , but God θεῷ theō G2316 , who proves our hearts καρδίας kardias G2588 . 5 For we have not at any time ποτε pote G4218 been [ among you ] with flattering discourse, even as ye know , nor with a pretext προφάσει prophasei G4392 for covetousness G4124 , God θεὸς theos G2316 [ is ] witness μάρτυς, martus G3144 ; 6 nor seeking ζητοῦντες zētountes G2212 glory δόξαν doxan G1391 from men G444 , neither from you nor from others ἄλλων, allōn G243 , when G5613 we might have been G1510 a charge as Christ's apostles G652 ; 7 but have been G1510 gentle in the midst μέσῳ mesō G3319 of you , as a nurse would cherish her own ἑαυτῆς he'autēs G1438 children G5043 . 8 Thus G3779 , yearning over you , we had found our delight in having imparted to you not only G3440 the glad tidings of God θεοῦ theou G2316 , but our own ἑαυτῶν he'autōn G1438 lives G5590 also καὶ kai G2532 , because ye had become ἐγενήθητε. egenēthēte G1096 beloved ἀγαπητοὶ agapētoi G27 of us. 9 For ye remember Μνημονεύετε Mnēmoneuete G3421 , brethren , our labour and toil : working night νυκτὸς nuktos G3571 and day ἡμέρας hēmeras G2250 , not to be chargeable to any one G5100 of you , we have preached G2784 to you the glad tidings of God θεοῦ. theou G2316 . 10 Ye [ are ] witnesses G3144 , and God θεός, theos G2316 , how ὡς hōs G5613 piously and righteously δικαίως dikaiōs G1346 and blamelessly we have conducted ourselves with you that believe G4100 : 12 that ye should walk περιπατεῖν peripatein G4043 worthy of God θεοῦ theou G2316 , who calls καλοῦντος kalountos G2564 you to his own ἑαυτοῦ he'autou G1438 kingdom βασιλείαν basileian G932 and glory δόξαν.¶ doxan G1391 . 14 For ye, brethren , have become G1096 imitators μιμηταὶ mimētai G3402 of the assemblies of God θεοῦ theou G2316 which are G1510 in Judaea in Christ Χριστῷ Christō G5547 Jesus Ἰησοῦ, Iēsou G2424 ; for ye also καὶ kai G2532 have suffered ἐπάθετε epathete G3958 the same G846 things of your own ἰδίων idiōn G2398 countrymen as also καὶ kai G2532 they of the Jews Ἰουδαίων, Ioudaiōn G2453 , 15 who have both slain the Lord κύριον kurion G2962 Jesus Ἰησοῦν Iēsoun G2424 and the prophets προφήτας prophētas G4396 , and have driven us out by persecution, and do not please G700 God θεῷ theō G2316 , and [ are ] against all men G444 , 16 forbidding G2967 us to speak λαλῆσαι lalēsai G2980 to the nations G1484 that they may be saved G4982 , that they may fill ἀναπληρῶσαι anaplērōsai G378 up their sins ἁμαρτίας hamartias G266 always πάντοτε· pantote G3842 : but wrath ὀργὴ orgē G3709 has come ἔφθασεν ephthasen G5348 upon them to the uttermost. 17 But we , brethren , having been bereaved of you and separated for a little moment in person , not in heart καρδίᾳ, kardia G2588 , have used more G4183 abundant diligence to see G3708 your face G4383 with much G4183 desire ἐπιθυμίᾳ. epithumia G1939 ; 19 For what [ is ] our hope ἐλπὶς elpis G1680 , or joy χαρὰ chara G5479 , or crown στέφανος stephanos G4735 of boasting καυχήσεως; kauchēseōs G2746 ?
