2but after we had alreadyG4310sufferedG4310and beenmistreatedὑβρισθέντες,hubristhentesG5195inPhilippiΦιλίπποις,PhilippoisG5375,as you knowG3609,we hadG3955the boldnessἐπαρρησιασάμεθαeparrēsiasamethaG3955in our GodθεῷtheōG2316to speakλαλῆσαιlalēsaiG2980to you thegospelεὐαγγέλιονeuangelionG2098of GodθεοῦtheouG2316amidG1722muchπολλῷpollōG4183oppositionἀγῶνι.agōniG73.

3For ourexhortationπαράκλησιςparaklēsisG3874does not come fromerrorπλάνηςplanēsG4106orοὐδὲoudeG3761impurityἀκαθαρσίαςakatharsiasG167orοὐδὲoudeG3761by wayἐνenG1722ofdeceitδόλῳ·dolōG1388;

4but justκαθὼςkathōsG2531as we have been approvedδεδοκιμάσμεθαdedokimasmethaG1381by GodθεοῦtheouG2316to beentrustedπιστευθῆναιpisteuthēnaiG4100with the gospelεὐαγγέλιον,euangelionG2098,soοὕτωςhoutōsG3779we speakλαλοῦμεν,laloumenG2980,not as pleasingἀρέσκοντεςareskontesG700menἀνθρώποιςanthrōpoisG444,but GodθεῷtheōG2316whoexaminesδοκιμάζοντιdokimazontiG1381our heartsκαρδίαςkardiasG2588.

5For we neverοὔτε ποτεoute poteG3777 G4218cameἐγενήθημεν,egenēthēmenG1096with flatteringκολακείαςkolakeiasG2850speechλόγῳlogōG3056,as you knowG3609,norοὔτεouteG3777witha pretextπροφάσειprophaseiG4392for greedπλεονεξίας,pleonexiasG4124--GodθεὸςtheosG2316is witnessμάρτυς,martusG3144--

6norοὔτεouteG3777did weseekζητοῦντεςzētountesG2212gloryδόξανdoxanG1391from menἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnG444,eitherοὔτεouteG3777from you orοὔτεouteG3777from othersἄλλων,allōnG243, even though asapostlesG652of ChristG5547we might haveassertedG1510 G922our authorityG922.

7But weprovedἐγενήθημενegenēthēmenG1096to begentleG2261amongἐν μέσῳen mesōG1722 G3319you,as a nursingτροφὸςtrophosG5162mothertenderlyG2282caresG2282for her ownἑαυτῆςhe'autēsG1438childrenτέκνα,teknaG5043.

16hinderingκωλυόντωνkōluontōnG2967us from speakingλαλῆσαιlalēsaiG2980to the GentilesἔθνεσινethnesinG1484soἵναinaG2443that they may be savedσωθῶσιν,sōthōsinG4982;with the result that they alwaysπάντοτε·pantoteG3842fillἀναπληρῶσαιanaplērōsaiG378up the measureG378of their sinsἁμαρτίαςhamartiasG266.
