Jeremiah 44:2-14
2“This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saysH559: YouH859 have seenH7200 allH3605 the disasterH7451 thatH834 I broughtH935 againstH5921 JerusalemH3389H5921 and allH3605 the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063; and beholdH2005, they lie today in ruinsH2723H3117 andH2088 desolationH369H3427 3because ofH6440 the evilH7451 they have doneH6213.
They provoked Me to angerH3707 by continuingH1980 to burn incenseH6999 and to serveH5647 otherH312 godsH430 that neitherH3808 theyH1992 nor youH859 nor your fathersH1 ever knewH3045. 4Yet I sentH7971 youH413 allH3605 My servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030 again and againH7925H7971,1 sayingH559: ‘Do notH408H4994 doH6213 thisH2063 detestableH8441 thingH1697 thatH834 I hateH8130.’
5But they did notH3808 listenH8085 or inclineH5186 their earsH241; they did notH3808 turnH7725 from their wickednessH7451 or stopH1115 burning incenseH6999 to otherH312 godsH430. 6Therefore My wrathH2534 and angerH639 poured outH5413 and burnedH1197 in the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389, so that they have becomeH1961 the desolateH2723 ruinH8077 they are todayH3117H2088.
7So nowH6258, this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 GodH430 of HostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, saysH559: WhyH4100 are youH859 doingH6213 such greatH1419 harmH7451 toH413 yourselvesH5315 by cutting offH3772 fromH8432 JudahH3063 manH376 and womanH802, childH5768 and infantH3243, leavingH3498 yourselves withoutH1115 a remnantH7611? 8Why are you provoking Me to angerH3707 by the workH4639 of your handsH3027 by burning incenseH6999 to otherH312 godsH430 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, whereH834 youH859 have goneH935 to resideH1481H8033?
As a resultH4616, you will be cut offH3772 andH4616 will becomeH1961 an object of cursingH7045 and reproachH2781 among allH3605 the nationsH1471 of the earthH776. 9Have you forgottenH7911 the wickednessH7451 of your fathersH1 andH853 of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063 andH853 their wivesH802, as well asH853 the wickedness thatH7451 youH853 andH7451 your wivesH802 committedH6213 in the landH776 of JudahH3063 and in the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389? 10ToH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117 they have notH3808 humbled themselvesH1792 or shown reverenceH3372, norH3808 have they followedH1980 My instructionH8451 or the statutesH2708 thatH834 I setH5414 before youH6440 andH6440 your fathersH1.
11ThereforeH3651 this is whatH3541 the LORDH3068 of HostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478H2005, saysH559: I will setH7760 My faceH6440 to bring disasterH7451 and to cut offH3772 allH3605 JudahH3063. 12And I will take awayH3947 the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063 whoH834 have resolvedH7760H6440 to goH935 to the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to reside thereH8033H1481; they will meet their endH8552. They will allH3605H776H4714 fallH5307 by the swordH2719 or be consumedH8552 by famineH7458. From the leastH6996 toH5704 the greatestH1419, they will dieH4191 by swordH2719 or famineH7458; and they will becomeH1961 an object of cursingH423 and horrorH8047, of vilificationH7045 and reproachH2781.
13I will punishH6485H5921 those who liveH3427 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, just asH834 I punishedH6485H5921 JerusalemH3389, by swordH2719 and famineH7458 and plagueH1698, 14so that none ofH3808 the remnantH7611 of JudahH3063 who have goneH935 to resideH1481H8033 in EgyptH4714 willH1961 escapeH6412 or surviveH8300 to returnH7725 to the landH776 of JudahH3063, whereH834 theyH1992 longH5375 to returnH7725 and liveH3427H8033; forH3588 noneH3808 will returnH7725 exceptH3588H518 a few fugitivesH6412.”
