Jeremiah 15
Revised Version 1895
1Then saidH559 the LORDH3068 unto meH413, ThoughH518 MosesH4872 and SamuelH8050 stoodH5975 beforeH6440 meH413, yet my mindH6440 couldH5971 notH369 be towardH413 this peopleH5971: castH7971 them outH3318 of my sightH6440, and letH7971 them goH3318 forthH3318. 2And it shall comeH1961 to passH1961, when they sayH559 unto thee, Whither shall weH3588 goH3318 forthH3318? then thou shalt tellH559 them, ThusH3541 saith the LORDH3068: SuchH834 as are for deathH4194, to deathH4194; and suchH834 as are for the swordH2719, to the swordH2719; and suchH834 as are for the famineH7458, to the famineH7458; and suchH834 as are for captivityH7628, to captivityH7628. 3And I will appointH6485 over them fourH702 kindsH929, saith the LORDH3068: the swordH2719 to slayH2026, and the dogsH3611 to tear, and the fowls of the heavenH8064, and the beastsH929 of the earthH776, to devourH398 and to destroyH7843. 4And I will causeH5414 them to be tossed to and fro among allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776, becauseH5921 of ManassehH4519 the sonH1121 of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, for that whichH834 he didH6213 in JerusalemH3389. 5For who shall have pityH2550 uponH5921 thee, O JerusalemH3389? or who shall bemoan thee? or who shall turnH5493 asideH5493 to askH7592 of thy welfareH7965? 6Thou hast rejected meH5921, saith the LORDH3068, thou art gone backwardH268: therefore have I stretchedH5186 outH5186 my handH3027 againstH5921 thee, and destroyedH7843 thee; I am wearyH3811 with repenting. 7And I have fanned them with a fan in the gatesH8179 of the landH776; I have bereavedH7921 them of childrenH7921, I have destroyedH6 my peopleH5971; they have notH3808 returnedH7725 from their waysH1870. 8Their widowsH490 are increased to meH5921 aboveH5921 the sandH2344 of the seasH3220: I have broughtH935 uponH5921 them againstH5921 the motherH517 of the youngH970 menH970 a spoiler at noonday: I have caused anguish and terrors to fallH5307 uponH5921 herH5921 suddenlyH6597. 9SheH6440 that hath borneH3205 sevenH7651 languisheth; sheH6440 hath givenH5414 upH5414 the ghost; herH5414 sunH8121 is goneH935 downH5414 whileH5750 it was yet dayH3119; sheH6440 hath been ashamedH954 and confoundedH2659: and the residue of them will I deliverH5414 to the swordH2719 beforeH6440 their enemiesH341, saith the LORDH3068. 10WoeH188 is meH3205, my motherH517, that thou hast borneH3205 meH3205 a manH376 of strifeH7379 and a manH376 of contentionH4066 to the wholeH3605 earthH776! I have notH3808 lentH5383 on usury, neitherH3808 have menH376 lentH5383 to meH3205 on usury; yet everyH3605 one of them doth curseH7043 meH3205. 11The LORDH3068 saidH559, Verily I will strengthen thee for goodH2896; verily I will cause the enemyH341 to makeH6293 supplicationH6293 unto thee in the time of evilH7451 and in the time of affliction. 12Can one break ironH1270, even ironH1270 from the northH6828, and brassH5178? 13Thy substanceH2428 and thy treasuresH214 will I giveH5414 for a spoilH957 withoutH3808 priceH4242, and that for allH3605 thy sinsH2403, evenH3808 in allH3605 thy bordersH1366. 14And I will makeH3045 them to passH5674 with thine enemiesH341 intoH5921 a landH776 whichH784 thou knowest notH3808: for a fireH784 is kindledH6919 in mine angerH639, whichH784 shall burnH3344 uponH5921 youH3588. 15O LORDH3068, thou knowest: rememberH2142 meH5921, and visitH6485 meH5921, and avengeH5358 meH5921 of my persecutorsH7291; takeH3947 meH5921 notH408 awayH5375 in thy longsuffering: knowH3045 that for thy sakeH5921 I have suffered reproachH2781. 16Thy wordsH1697 were foundH4672, and I did eatH398 them; and thy wordsH1697 were unto meH5921 a joyH8057 and the rejoicingH8057 of mine heartH3824: for I am calledH7121 by thy nameH8034, O LORDH3068 GodH430 of hostsH6635. 17I satH3427 notH3808 in the assemblyH5475 of them that makeH3588 merry, norH3808 rejoiced: I satH3427 aloneH910 becauseH3588 of thy handH3027; for thou hast filledH4390 meH6440 with indignationH2195. 18WhyH4100 is my painH3511 perpetualH5331, and my woundH4347 incurableH605, whichH4325 refuseth to be healedH7495? wilt thou indeedH3808 be unto meH1961 as a deceitful brook, as watersH4325 that failH3808? 19Therefore thusH3541 saith the LORDH3068, IfH518 thou returnH7725, then will I bringH3318 thee againH7725, that thou mayest standH5975 beforeH6440 meH413; and ifH518 thou takeH7725 forthH3318 the preciousH3368 from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouthH6310: they shall returnH7725 unto thee, but thou shalt notH3808 returnH7725 unto them. 20And I will makeH5414 thee unto this peopleH5971 a fenced brasen wallH2346; and they shall fightH3898 againstH413 thee, but they shall notH3808 prevailH3201 againstH413 thee: for I am with thee to saveH3467 thee and to deliverH5337 thee, saith the LORDH3068. 21And I will deliverH5337 thee outH3027 of the handH3027 of the wickedH7451, and I will redeemH6299 thee outH3027 of the handH3027 of the terribleH7451.
