Jeremiah 15

Judgment Must Come

1Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, “Even 1ifH518 2MosesH4872 and 3SamuelH8050 were to 4standH5975 beforeH6440 Me, My 5heartH5315 would not be 6with thisH2088 peopleH5971. 7SendH7971 them awayH7971 from My presenceH6440 and have them goH3318! 2And it shall be that whenH3588 they sayH559 to you, ‘WhereH575 should we goH3318?’ then you are to tellH559 them, ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: “Those destined 8for deathH4194, to deathH4194; And those destined for the swordH2719, to the swordH2719; And those destined for famineH7458, to famineH7458; And those destined for captivityH7628, to captivityH7628.”’ 3And I will 9appointH6485 overH5921 them fourH702 kindsH4940 of doom,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068: “the swordH2719 to killH2026, the 10dogsH3611 to dragH5498 awayH5498, and the 11birdsH5775 of the skyH8064 and the animalsH929 of the earthH776 to devourH398 and destroyH7843. 4I will 12makeH5414 them an objectH2113 ofH2113 terrorH2113 among allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 becauseH1558 of 13ManassehH4519, the sonH1121 of HezekiahH2396, the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, for whatH834 he didH6213 in JerusalemH3389.

5“IndeedH3588, whoH4310 will haveH2550 14pityH2550 on you, JerusalemH3389, Or whoH4310 will 15mournH5110 for you, Or whoH4310 will turnH5493 asideH5493 to askH7592 about your welfareH7965?6You who have 16forsakenH5203 Me,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “You keep 17goingH1980 backwardH268. So I will 18stretchH5186 outH5186 My handH3027 againstH5921 you and destroyH7843 you; I amH3811 19tiredH3811 of relentingH5162!7I will 20winnowH2219 them with a winnowingH4214 forkH4214 At the gatesH8179 of the landH776; I will 21bereaveH7921 them ofH7921 childrenH7921, I will destroyH6 My peopleH5971; 22They did not 23repentH7725 of their waysH1870.8Their 24widowsH490 will beH6105 moreH4480 numerousH6105 before Me ThanH4480 the sandH2344 of the seasH3220; I will bringH935 against them, againstH5921 the motherH517 of a youngH970 manH970, A 25destroyerH7703 at noonH6672; I will suddenlyH6597 bringH5307 downH5307 on her ShockH5892 and horrorH928.9She who 26gaveH3205 birthH3205 to sevenH7651 sons withersH535 awayH535; 27Her breathingH5315 isH5301 laboredH5301. Her 28sunH8121 has setH935 while it was stillH5750 dayH3119; She has been 29shamedH954 and humiliatedH2659. So I will 30turnH5414 overH5414 their survivorsH7611 to the swordH2719 BeforeH6440 their enemiesH340,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.

1031WoeH188 to me, my motherH517, that you have givenH3205 birthH3205 to me As a 32manH376 of strifeH7379 and a manH376 of contentionH4066 to allH3605 the landH776! I have not 33lentH5383, norH3808 have people lentH5383 money to me, Yet everyoneH3605 cursesH7043 me.11The LordH3068 saidH559, “I will certainlyH518H3808 34setH8281 you freeH8281 for purposes of goodH2896; I will certainlyH518H3808 make the 35enemyH340 pleadH6293 with you In a timeH6256 of disasterH7463 and a timeH6256 of distressH6869.

12“Can anyone smashH7489 ironH1270, 36IronH1270 from the northH6828, or bronzeH5178?13I will giveH5414 your 37wealthH2428 and your treasuresH214 As plunderH957 38withoutH3808 costH4242, For allH3605 your sinsH2403 And within allH3605 your bordersH1366.14Then I will make your enemiesH340 bringH5674 your possessions Into a 39landH776 that you do not knowH3045; For a 40fireH784 has beenH6919 kindledH6919 in My angerH639, And it will burnH3344 upon you.”

Jeremiah’s Prayer and God’s Answer

1541You knowH3045, LordH3068; RememberH2142 me, takeH6485 noticeH6485 of me, And 42takeH5358 vengeanceH5358 for me on my persecutorsH7291. Do not, in view of Your patienceH750, takeH3947 me away; KnowH3045 that 43forH5921 Your sakeH5921 I endureH5375 reproachH2781.16Your wordsH1697 were foundH4672 and I 44ateH398 them, And Your 45wordsH1697 becameH1961 a joyH8342 to me and the delightH8057 of my heartH3824; For I have been 46calledH7121 by Your nameH8034, LordH3068 GodH430 of armiesH6635.17I 47did not sitH3427 in a circleH5475 of revelersH7832 and celebrateH5937. BecauseH4480H6440 of Your handH3027 upon me I satH3427 48aloneH910, For You 49filledH4390 me with indignationH2195.18WhyH4100 has my painH3511 beenH1961 endlessH5331 And my 50woundH4347 incurableH605, refusingH3985 to be healedH7495? Will You indeedH1961 be to me 51likeH3644 a deceptiveH391 stream With waterH4325 that is unreliableH539H3808?

19ThereforeH3651, thisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: “52IfH518 you returnH7725, then I will restoreH7725 you-- 53You will standH5975 beforeH6440 Me; And 54ifH518 you extractH3318 the preciousH3368 from the worthlessH2151, You will becomeH1961 55My spokesmanH6310. They, for their partH1992, may turnH7725 to you, But as for you, you are not to turnH7725 to them.20Then I will 56makeH5414 you to thisH2088 peopleH5971 A fortifiedH1219 wallH2346 of bronzeH5178; And though they fightH3898 againstH413 you, They will not prevailH3201 over you; For 57I am with you to saveH3467 you And rescueH5337 you,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.21“So I will 58rescueH5337 you from the handH3027 of the wickedH7451, And I will 59redeemH6299 you from the 60graspH3709 of the violentH6184.”
