Ezekiel Eats the Scroll
(Revelation 10:1–11)
“SonH1121 of manH120,” He saidH559 to meH413, “eatH398 whatH834 you find hereH4672. EatH398 thisH2063 scrollH4039, then goH1980 and speakH1696 toH413 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478.”
So I openedH6605 my mouthH6310, and He fedH398 meH853 the scrollH4039H2063.
“SonH1121 of manH120H990,” He saidH559 to meH413, “eatH398 and fillH4390 your stomachH4578 with thisH2063 scrollH4039 IH589 am giving youH5414H413.”
So I ateH398, and it wasH1961 as sweetH4966 as honeyH1706 in my mouthH6310.
Then He saidH559 to meH413, “SonH1121 of manH120, go nowH1980H935 toH413 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and speakH1696 My wordsH1697 to themH413. 5ForH3588 youH859 are notH3808 being sentH7971 toH413 a peopleH5971 of unfamiliarH6012 speechH8193 or difficultH3515 languageH3956, but toH413 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478— 6notH3808 toH413 the manyH7227 peoplesH5971 of unfamiliarH6012 speechH8193 and difficultH3515 languageH3956 whoseH834 wordsH1697 you cannotH3808 understandH8085. SurelyH518H3808 if I had sent youH7971 to themH413, theyH1992 would have listenedH8085 to youH413.
But the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 will be unwillingH3808H14 to listenH8085 to youH413, sinceH3588 they are unwillingH369H14 to listenH8085 to MeH413. ForH3588 the wholeH3605 houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 is hard-headedH2389H4696 and hard-heartedH7186H3820H1992.
BeholdH2009, I will makeH5414 your faceH6440 as hardH2389 asH5980 their facesH6440, and your foreheadH4696 as hardH2389 asH5980 their foreheadsH4696. 9I will makeH5414 your foreheadH4696 like a diamondH8068, harderH2389 than flintH6864. Do notH3808 be afraidH3372 of themH853 or dismayedH2865 at their presenceH6440, even thoughH3588 theyH1992 are a rebelliousH4805 houseH1004.”
“SonH1121 of manH120,” He addedH559H413, “listen carefullyH241H8085 to allH3605 the wordsH1697 I speakH1696 to youH413, and take themH3947 to heartH3824. 11GoH935 toH413 your peopleH1121H5971, the exilesH1473; speakH1696H413 to themH413 and tellH559 themH413, ‘This is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 saysH559,’ whetherH518 they listenH8085 orH518 refuse to listenH2308.”
Then the SpiritH73071 lifted me upH5375, and I heardH8085 a greatH1419 rumblingH7494 soundH6963 behind meH310: “Blessed beH1288 the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068 in His dwelling placeH4725!”2 13It was the soundH6963 of the wingsH3671 of the living creaturesH2416 brushingH5401 againstH413 oneH802 anotherH269 and the soundH6963 of the wheelsH212 beside themH5980, a greatH1419 rumblingH7494 soundH6963.
So the SpiritH7307 lifted me upH5375 and took me awayH3947, and I wentH1980 in bitternessH4751 and in the angerH2534 of my spiritH7307, with the strongH2388 handH3027 of the LORDH3068 upon meH5921. 15I cameH935 toH413 the exilesH1473 at Tel-abibH8512 who dweltH3427 byH413 the RiverH5104 KebarH3529. And for sevenH7651 daysH3117 I satH834 whereH8033 theyH1992 satH3427 and remainedH3427 thereH8033 among themH8432, overwhelmedH8074.
A Watchman for Israel
At the endH7097 of sevenH7651 daysH3117H1961 the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to meH413, sayingH559, 17“SonH1121 of manH120, I have madeH5414 you a watchmanH6822 for the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478. Whenever you hearH8085 a wordH1697 fromH4480 My mouthH6310, give them a warningH2094 from MeH853.
If I sayH559 to the wicked manH7563, ‘You will surely dieH4191,’ but you do notH3808 warn himH2094 or speak outH1696 to warnH2094 himH7563 from his wickedH7563 wayH1870 to save his lifeH2421, thatH1931 wicked manH7563 will dieH4191 in his iniquityH5771,3 and I will hold youH3027 responsible forH1245 his bloodH1818. 19But ifH3588 youH859 warnH2094 a wicked manH7563 and he does notH3808 turnH7725 from his wickednessH7562 and his wickedH7563 wayH1870, heH1931 will dieH4191 in his iniquityH5771, but youH859 will have savedH5337 yourselfH5315.
Now if a righteous manH6662 turnsH7725 from his righteousnessH6664 and commitsH6213 iniquityH5766, and I putH5414 a stumbling blockH4383 before himH6440, heH1931 will dieH4191. IfH3588 you did notH3808 warn himH2094, he will dieH4191 in his sinH2403,4 and the righteous actsH6666 he didH6213 will notH3808 be rememberedH2142. And I will hold youH3027 responsible forH1245 his bloodH1818. 21But ifH3588 youH859 warnH2094 the righteous manH6662 notH1115 to sinH2398, and heH1931 does notH3808 sinH2398, he will indeed liveH2421 becauseH3588 he heeded your warningH2094, and youH859 will have savedH5337 yourselfH5315.”
And thereH8033 the handH3027 of the LORDH3068 wasH1961 upon meH5921, and He saidH559 to meH413, “Get upH6965, go outH3318 toH413 the plainH1237, and thereH8033 I will speakH1696 with youH854.”
So I got upH6965 and went outH3318 toH413 the plainH1237, and beholdH2009, the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068 was presentH5975 thereH8033, like the gloryH3519 I had seenH7200 byH5921 the RiverH5104 KebarH3529, and I fellH5307 facedownH5921H6440.
Then the SpiritH7307 enteredH935 me and set meH5975 onH5921 my feetH7272. He spokeH1696 with meH854 and saidH559H413, “GoH935, shut yourselfH5462 insideH8432 your houseH1004. 25And youH859, sonH1121 of manH120H2009, they will tieH5414 with ropesH5688, and you will be boundH631 so that you cannotH3808 go outH3318 amongH8432 the people. 26I will make your tongueH3956 stickH1692 toH413 the roof of your mouthH2441, and you will be silentH481 and unableH3808H1961 to rebuke themH3198, thoughH3588 theyH1992 are a rebelliousH4805 houseH1004.
But when I speakH1696 with youH854, I will openH6605 your mouthH6310, and you are to tellH559 themH413, ‘This is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 saysH559.’ Whoever listensH8085, let him listenH8085; and whoever refusesH2308, let him refuseH2310, forH3588 theyH1992 are a rebelliousH4805 houseH1004.
