A Prophecy against Pharaoh
1In the tenthH6224 yearH8141, on the twelfthH8147H6240 dayH2320 of the tenthH6224 month, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to meH413, sayingH559, 2“SonH1121 of manH120, setH7760 your faceH6440 againstH5921 PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 and prophesyH5012 against himH5921 and againstH5921 allH3605 EgyptH4714. 3SpeakH1696 to him and tell himH559 that this is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 saysH559:
The Desolation of Egypt
8ThereforeH3651 this is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069H2005 saysH559: I will bringH935 a swordH2719 against youH5921 and cut offH3772 from youH4480 manH120 and beastH929. 9The landH776 of EgyptH4714 will becomeH1961 a desolateH8077 wastelandH2723. Then they will knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589 am the LORDH3068.
BecauseH3282 you saidH559, ‘The NileH2975 is mine; IH589 made itH6213,’ 10thereforeH3651 I amH2005 against youH413 and againstH413 your riversH2975. I will turnH5414 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 into a ruinH2723, a desolateH8077 wastelandH2721 from MigdolH4024 to SyeneH5482, and as far asH5704 the borderH1366 of CushH3568.2 11NoH3808 footH7272 of manH120 or beastH929 will passH5674 through, andH3808 it will be uninhabitedH3427 for fortyH705 yearsH8141.
12I will makeH5414 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 a desolationH8077 amongH8432 desolateH8074 landsH776, and her citiesH5892 will lieH1961 desolateH8077 for fortyH705 yearsH8141 amongH8432 the ruinedH2717 citiesH5892. And I will disperseH6327 the EgyptiansH4714 among the nationsH1471 and scatter themH2219 throughout the countriesH776.
13ForH3588 this is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069 saysH559: At the endH7093 of fortyH705 yearsH8141 I will gatherH6908 the EgyptiansH4714 fromH4480 the nationsH5971 to whichH834 they were scatteredH6327H8033. 14I will restoreH7725 EgyptH4714 from captivityH76223 and bring them backH7725 toH5921 the landH776 of PathrosH6624, the landH776 of their originH4351. ThereH8033 they will beH1961 a lowlyH8217 kingdomH4467.
Egypt will beH1961 the lowliestH8217 of kingdomsH4467 and will neverH3808 againH5750 exalt itselfH5375 aboveH5921 the nationsH1471. For I will diminishH4591 Egypt so that it will never againH1115 ruleH7287 over the nationsH1471. 16Egypt will neverH3808H5750 again beH1961 an object of trustH4009 for the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, but will remind themH2142 of their iniquityH5771 in turningH6437 to the EgyptiansH310. Then they will knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589 am the LordH136 GODH3069.”
Egypt the Reward of Nebuchadnezzar
In the twenty-seventhH6242H7651 yearH8141, on the firstH259 dayH2320 of the first monthH7223, the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 cameH1961 to meH413, sayingH559, 18“SonH1121 of manH120, NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 caused his armyH2428 to laborH5647 strenuouslyH5656H1419 againstH413 TyreH6865. EveryH3605 headH7218 was made baldH7139 and everyH3605 shoulderH3802 made rawH4803. But he and his armyH2428 receivedH1961 noH3808 wagesH7939 from TyreH6865 forH5921 the laborH5656 they expendedH5647 on itH5921.
19ThereforeH3651 this is whatH3541 the LordH136 GODH3069H2005 saysH559: I will giveH5414 the landH776 of EgyptH4714 to NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, who will carry offH5375 its wealthH1995, seizeH7997 its spoilH7998, and removeH962 its plunderH957. This will beH1961 the wagesH7939 for his armyH2426. 20I have givenH5414 him the landH776 of EgyptH4714 as the rewardH6468 for his laborH5647, becauseH834 it was doneH6213 for Me, declaresH5002 the LordH136 GODH3069.
21In thatH1931 dayH3117 I will cause a hornH7161 to sproutH6779 for the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, and I will openH5414 your mouthH6310 to speakH6610 among themH8432. Then they will knowH3045 thatH3588 IH589 am the LORDH3068.”
