Luke 18:1-14
1And he spake a parableG3850 unto them to the end that they oughtG1163 alwaysG3842 to prayG4336, and not to faint; 2sayingG3004, There wasG1510 in a cityG4172 a judgeG2923, who fearedG5399 not GodG2316, and regarded not manG444: 3and there wasG1510 a widowG5503 in that cityG4172; and she cameG2064 oft unto him, sayingG3004, AvengeG1556 me of mineG1473 adversaryG476. 4And he wouldG2309 not for a while: but afterward he saidG3004 within himself, Though I fearG5399 not GodG2316, nor regard manG444; 5yetG1065 because this widowG5503 troubleth me, I will avengeG1556 her, lestG3361 she wear me out by her continual comingG2064. 6And the LordG2962 saidG3004, HearG191 what the unrighteousG93 judgeG2923 saith. 7And shall not GodG2316 avenge his electG1588, that cryG994 to him dayG2250 and nightG3571, and yet he is longsuffering over them? 8I sayG3004 unto you, that he will avenge them speedily. NeverthelessG4133, when the SonG5207 of manG444 cometh, shall he findG2147 faithG4102 on the earthG1093?
9And he spake alsoG2532 this parableG3850 unto certainG5100 who trustedG3982 in themselves that they wereG1510 righteousG1342, and set all othersG3062 at nought: 10TwoG1417 menG444 wentG305 up into the templeG2411 to prayG4336; the oneG1520 a PhariseeG5330, and the otherG2087 a publican. 11The PhariseeG5330 stoodG2476 and prayedG4336 thus with himself, GodG2316, I thankG2168 thee, that I amG1510 not as the restG3062 of menG444, extortioners, unjustG94, adulterersG3432, or evenG2532 as this publican. 12I fastG3522 twiceG1364 in the weekG4521; I give tithes of all that I get. 13But the publican, standingG2476 afar off, would not liftG1869 up so much as his eyesG3788 unto heavenG3772, but smote his breastG4738, sayingG3004, GodG2316, be thou merciful to me a sinnerG268. 14I sayG3004 unto you, This manG3778 wentG2597 downG2597 to his houseG3624 justifiedG1344 rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbledG5013; but he that humbleth himself shall be exaltedG5312.
