Hebrews 4
American Standard Version
1Let us fearG5399 thereforeG3767, lest haply, a promiseG1860 being leftG2641 of enteringG1525 into his restG2663, any oneG5100 of you should seemG1380 to have comeG1525 shortG5302 of it. 2For indeed we have had good tidings preached unto us, evenG2532 as alsoG2532 they: but the wordG3056 of hearingG191 did not profitG5623 them, because it wasG1510 not united by faithG4102 with them that heardG191. 3For we who have believedG4100 do enterG1525 into that restG2663; even as he hath saidG3004,
although the worksG2041 were finished from the foundationG2602 of the worldG2889. 4For he hath saidG3004 somewhereG4225 of the seventhG1442 dayG2250 on this wise, And GodG2316 restedG2664 on the seventhG1442 dayG2250 from all his worksG2041; 5and in this place againG3825,
6Seeing thereforeG3767 it remaineth that some should enterG1525 thereinto, and they to whom the good tidings were before preached failed to enterG1525 in because of disobedienceG543, 7he againG3825 defineth a certainG5100 dayG2250, To-day, sayingG3004 in DavidG1138 soG5118 long a timeG5550 afterward (even as hath been saidG3004 before),
8For if Joshua had given them restG2664, he would not have spokenG2980 afterward of another dayG2250. 9There remaineth thereforeG686 a sabbath rest for the peopleG2992 of GodG2316. 10For he that is enteredG1525 into his restG2663 hath himself alsoG2532 restedG2664 from his worksG2041, as GodG2316 did from his. 11Let us thereforeG3767 give diligence to enterG1525 into that restG2663, that no man fallG4098 after the sameG846 exampleG5262 of disobedienceG543. 12For the wordG3056 of GodG2316 is livingG2198, and active, and sharper than any two-edged swordG3162, and piercing evenG2532 to the dividing of soulG5590 and spiritG4151, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughtsG1761 and intents of the heartG2588. 13And there isG1510 no creature that isG1510 not manifest in his sight: but all thingsG3956 areG1510 nakedG1131 and laid open before the eyesG3788 of him with whom we have to do.
14Having thenG3767 a greatG3173 highG749 priestG749, who hath passedG1330 through the heavensG3772, JesusG2424 the SonG5207 of GodG2316, let us holdG2902 fastG2902 our confessionG3671. 15For we have not a highG749 priestG749 that cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmitiesG769; but oneG3588 that hath been in all points temptedG3985 like as we are, yet without sinG266. 16Let us thereforeG3767 drawG4334 near with boldnessG3954 unto the throneG2362 of graceG5485, that we may receiveG2983 mercyG1656, and may findG2147 graceG5485 to help us in time of need.
