Hebrews 6
American Standard Version
1Wherefore leavingG863 the doctrine of the first principles of ChristG5547, let us press on unto perfection; not laying againG3825 a foundationG2310 of repentanceG3341 from deadG3498 worksG2041, and of faithG4102 toward GodG2316, 2of the teachingG1322 of baptisms, and of layingG1936 on of handsG5495, and of resurrectionG386 of the deadG3498, and of eternalG166 judgmentG2917. 3And this will we do, if GodG2316 permitG2010. 4For as touching those who were onceG530 enlightenedG5461 and tastedG1089 of the heavenlyG2032 giftG1431, and were made partakersG3353 of the HolyG40 SpiritG4151, 5and tastedG1089 the goodG2570 word of GodG2316, and the powersG1411 of the ageG165 to comeG3195, 6and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them againG3825 unto repentanceG3341; seeing they crucify to themselves the SonG5207 of GodG2316 afresh, and put him to an open shame. 7For the landG1093 which hath drunkG4095 the rainG5205 that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forthG5088 herbs meet for them for whose sakeG1223 it is alsoG2532 tilled, receiveth blessingG2129 from GodG2316: 8but if it beareth thornsG173 and thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curseG2671; whose endG5056 is to be burned.
9But, belovedG27, we are persuadedG3982 better things of you, and things that accompany salvationG4991, though we thusG3779 speakG2980: 10for GodG2316 is not unrighteousG94 to forgetG1950 your workG2041 and the loveG26 which ye showed toward his nameG3686, in that ye ministeredG1247 unto the saintsG40, and still do ministerG1247. 11And we desireG1937 that each oneG1538 of you may showG1731 the sameG846 diligenceG4710 unto the fulness of hopeG1680 even to the endG5056: 12that ye be not sluggishG3576, but imitatorsG3402 of them who through faithG4102 and patienceG3115 inheritG2816 the promisesG1860.
13For when GodG2316 made promiseG1861 to AbrahamG11, since he could swearG3660 by noneG3762 greaterG3173, he sware by himself, 14sayingG3004, Surely blessingG2127 I will blessG2127 thee, and multiplyingG4129 I will multiplyG4129 thee. 15And thusG3779, having patiently endured, he obtainedG2013 the promiseG1860. 16For menG444 swearG3660 by the greaterG3173: and in every dispute of theirs the oathG3727 is final for confirmationG951. 17Wherein GodG2316, being minded to showG1925 more abundantly unto the heirsG2818 of the promiseG1860 the immutability of his counselG1012, interposed with an oathG3727; 18that by twoG1417 immutable thingsG3739, in which it is impossibleG102 for GodG2316 to lieG5574, we may have a strongG2478 encouragementG3874, who have fled for refuge to lay holdG2902 of the hopeG1680 setG4295 before us: 19which we have as an anchorG45 of the soulG5590, a hope both sure and stedfast and enteringG1525 into that which is within the veilG2665; 20whither as a forerunner JesusG2424 enteredG1525 for us, having becomeG1096 a highG749 priestG749 for ever after the orderG5010 of MelchizedekG3198.
