1As JesuspassedπαράγωνparagōnG3855by, He sawG3708a manἄνθρωπονanthrōponG444who had beenblindτυφλὸνtuphlonG5185from birthγενετῆς.genetēsG1079.

2And His disciplesμαθηταὶmathētaiG3101askedἠρώτησανērōtēsanG2065Him, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461,whoτίςtisG5101sinnedἥμαρτεν,hēmartenG264,thisG3778manοὗτοςhoutosG3778orἢēG2228hisparentsγονεῖςgoneisG1118,that he would be bornγεννηθῇ;¶gennēthēaG1080blindτυφλὸςtuphlosG5185?”

3JesusἸησοῦς·IēsousG2424answeredἈπεκρίθηApekrithēG611, “It wasneitherοὔτεouteG3777thatthisG3778manοὗτοςhoutosG3778sinnedἥμαρτενhēmartenG264,norοὔτεouteG3777his parentsγονεῖςgoneisG1118; but it wassoG2443thatG2443the worksἔργαergaG2041of GodθεοῦtheouG2316might be displayedφανερωθῇphanerōthēaG5319in him.

4We mustδεῖdeiG1163carryG2038outG2038the worksἔργαergaG2041of Him who sentπέμψαντόςpempsantosG3992MeasG2193longG2193asG2193it is dayἡμέραhēmeraG2250;nightνύξ,nuxG3571is comingἔρχεταιerchetaiG2064,whenὅτεhoteG3753noG3762oneοὐδεὶςoudeisG3762canδύναταιdunataiG1410workG2038.

5WhileὅτανhotanG3752I amὦ,ōG1510in the worldκόσμῳkosmōG2889,I amεἰμιeimiG1510the LightφῶςphōsG5457of the worldκόσμου.kosmouG2889.”

6When He had saidG3004thisταῦταtautaG3778, HespitἔπτυσενeptusenG4429on the groundχαμαὶchamaiG5476,and madeἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160mudπηλὸνpēlonG4081from the salivaπτύσματοςptusmatosG4427,and appliedG2007the mudπηλὸνpēlonG4081to his eyesὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmousG3788,

7and saidG3004to him,“GoὕπαγεhupageG5217,washνίψαιnipsaiG3538inthe poolκολυμβήθρανkolumbēthranG2861of SiloamΣιλωάμSilōamG4611” (whichὃhoG3739is translatedἑρμηνεύεταιhermēneuetaiG2059,Sentἀπεσταλμένος.apestalmenosG649).SoοὖνounG3767he leftἀπῆλθενapēlthenG565andwashedἐνίψατοenipsatoG3538, andcameἦλθενēlthenG2064backseeingβλέπων.¶blepōnG991.

8SoοὖνounG3767the neighborsγείτονεςgeitonesG1069,and thoseG3588who previouslyπρότερονproteronG4387sawθεωροῦντεςtheōrountesG2334him as a beggarG4319,were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “Is thisοὗτόςhoutosG3778not the one who used tositκαθήμενοςkathēmenosG2521and begG4319?”

9OthersἄλλοιalloiG243were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004, “ThisοὗτόςhoutosG3778is he,” stillothersἄλλοιalloiG243were sayingἔλεγον·elegonG3004, “Noοὐχί,ouchiG3780,but he is likeὅμοιοςhomoiosG3664him.”The man himself kept sayingἔλεγενelegenG3004, “I amG1510the one.”

10SoοὖνounG3767they were sayingἔλεγονelegonG3004to him, “HowπῶςpōsG4459thenοὖνounG3767were your eyesὀφθαλμοί;ophthalmoiG3788openedἠνεῴχθησάνēneōchthēsanG455?”

11He answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611, “The ManἄνθρωποςanthrōposG444who is calledG3004JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424madeἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160mudπηλὸνpēlonG4081,and spreadG2025itonG2025my eyesὀφθαλμοὺςophthalmousG3788,and saidG3004to me,‘GoὕπαγεhupageG5217toSiloamΣιλωὰμSilōamG4611and washνίψαι.nipsaiG3538’;soοὖνounG3767I wentG565awayG565and washedνιψάμενοςnipsamenosG3538,and I receivedG308sightἀνέβλεψα.aneblepsaG308.”

12And they saidλέγει·legeiG3004to him, “WhereποῦpouG4226is He?” He saidG3004, “I do not knowG3609.”

13They broughtἌγουσινAgousinG71the man who was previouslyποτεpoteG4218blindτυφλόν·tuphlonG5185to the PhariseesΦαρισαίους,PharisaiousG5330.

14NowδὲdeG1161it was a SabbathσάββατονsabbatonG4521on the dayἡμέρᾳhēmeraG2250that JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424madeἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160the mudπηλὸνpēlonG4081and openedἀνέῳξενaneōxenG455his eyesὀφθαλμούς.ophthalmousG3788.
