3The Nileהַיְאֹר֮hay.'OrH2975willswarmוְשָׁרַ֣ץve.sha.RatzH8317with frogsH6854,which will comeוְעָלוּ֙ve.'a.LuH5927upוַיַּעֲל֥וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927and goוּבָ֣אוּu.Va.'uH935into your houseבְּבֵיתֶ֔ךָbe.vei.Te.khaH1004,and into your bedroomוּבַחֲדַ֥ר מִשְׁכָּבְךָ֖u.va.cha.Dar mish.ka.ve.KhaH2315H4904and on your bedמִטָּתֶ֑ךָmi.ta.Te.khaH4296,and into the housesוּבְבֵ֤יתu.ve.VeitH1004of your servantsעֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙'a.va.Dei.khaH5650,and on your peopleוּבְעַמֶּ֔ךָu.ve.'a.Me.khaH5971,and into your ovensוּבְתַנּוּרֶ֖יךָu.ve.ta.nu.Rei.khaH8574and kneadingוּבְמִשְׁאֲרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃u.ve.mish.'a.ro.Tei.khaH4863bowlsH4863.
5Then the Lordיְהוָה֮Yah.wehH3068saidH559to MosesH4872, “SayH559to Aaronאַהֲרֹ֗ן'a.ha.RonH175, ‘Extendנְטֵ֤הne.TehH5186your handיָדְךָ֙ya.de.KhaH3027with your staffבְּמַטֶּ֔ךָbe.ma.Te.khaH4294overH5921the riversהַ֨נְּהָרֹ֔תha.ne.ha.RotH5104,overH5921thestreamsH2975,and overH5921the poolsהָאֲגַמִּ֑יםha.'a.ga.MimH98,and make frogsH6854comeH5927upH5927on the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.’”
6So Aaronאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175extendedוַיֵּ֤טvai.YetH5186his handיָד֔וֹya.DoH3027overעַ֖ל'alH5921the watersמֵימֵ֣יmei.MeiH4325of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714, and thefrogsהַצְּפַרְדֵּ֔עַha.tze.far.De.a'H6854cameH5927upH5927and coveredוַתְּכַ֖סva.te.KhasH3680the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.
8Then PharaohH6547calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for MosesH4872and AaronH175and saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “Pleadהַעְתִּ֣ירוּha'.Ti.ruH6279with the LordH3068to removeוְיָסֵר֙ve.ya.SerH5493the frogsH6854from me and from my peopleוּמֵֽעַמִּ֑יu.me.'a.MiH5971; andI will letH7971the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971goוַאֲשַׁלְּחָה֙va.'a.sha.le.ChahH7971,so that they may sacrificeוְיִזְבְּח֖וּve.yiz.be.ChuH2076to the LordH3068.”
9And MosesH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Pharaohלְפַרְעֹה֮le.far.'OhH6547, “TheH6286honorH6286isH6286yoursH6286to tell me: whenלְמָתַ֣י׀le.ma.TaiH4970shall I pleadאַעְתִּ֣יר'a'.TirH6279for you and your servantsוְלַעֲבָדֶ֙יךָ֙ve.la.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650and your peopleוּֽלְעַמְּךָ֔u.le.'a.me.KhaH5971,that the frogsH6854be destroyedלְהַכְרִית֙le.hakh.RitH3772from you and your housesH1004, thatthey be leftתִּשָּׁאַֽרְנָה׃ti.sha.'Ar.nahH7604onlyH7534in the Nileבַּיְאֹ֖רbay.'OrH2975?”
10Then he saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Tomorrowלְמָחָ֑רle.ma.CharH4279.”So he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “May it beaccording to your wordכִּדְבָ֣רְךָ֔kid.Va.re.khaH1697,soלְמַ֣עַןle.Ma.'anH4616thatH4616you may knowתֵּדַ֔עte.Da'H3045that thereH369isH369noH369oneH369like the Lordכַּיהוָ֥הka.Yah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃'e.lo.Hei.nuH430.
11Thefrogsהַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֗יםhatz.far.de.'ImH6854will departוְסָר֣וּve.sa.RuH5493from you and your housesוּמִבָּ֣תֶּ֔יךָu.mib.Ba.Tei.khaH1004,and from your servantsוּמֵעֲבָדֶ֖יךָu.me.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650and your peopleוּמֵעַמֶּ֑ךָu.me.'a.Me.khaH5971;they will be leftתִּשָּׁאַֽרְנָה׃ti.sha.'Ar.nahH7604onlyH7534in the Nileבַּיְאֹ֖רbay.'OrH2975.”
12Then MosesH4872and AaronH175wentH3318outH3318from Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֑הpar.'OhH6547, andMosesH4872criedH6817outH6817to the LordH3068concerningעַל־ דְּבַ֥ר'al- de.VarH5921H1697the frogsהַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֖יםhatz.far.de.'ImH6854whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834He hadinflictedשָׂ֥םsamH7760upon Pharaohלְפַרְעֹֽה׃le.far.'OhH6547.
13The Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068didH6213according to the wordכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697of Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872,and the frogsהַֽצְפַרְדְּעִ֔יםhatz.far.de.'ImH6854diedוַיָּמֻ֙תוּ֙vai.ya.Mu.tuH4191out of the housesהַבָּתִּ֥יםha.ba.TimH1004,the courtyardsהַחֲצֵרֹ֖תha.cha.tze.RotH2691,and the fieldsהַשָּׂדֹֽת׃ha.sa.DotH7704.
The Plague of Insects
16Then the LordH3068saidH559to MosesH4872, “SayH559to Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175, ‘Extendנְטֵ֣הne.TehH5186your staffמַטְּךָ֔ma.te.KhaH4294and strikeוְהַ֖ךְve.HakhH5221the dustעֲפַ֣ר'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,so that it may turnוְהָיָ֥הve.ha.YahH1961intognatsלְכִנִּ֖םle.khi.NimH3654through allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.’”
17They didוַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־vai.ya.'a.su-H6213soכֵ֗ןKhenH3651;and Aaronאַהֲרֹ֨ן'a.ha.RonH175extendedוַיֵּט֩vai.YetH5186his handיָד֤וֹya.DoH3027with his staffבְמַטֵּ֙הוּ֙ve.ma.Te.huH4294and struckוַיַּךְ֙vai.yaKhH5221the dustעֲפַ֣ר'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776, and there weregnatsהַכִּנָּ֔םha.ki.NamH3654on everypersonבָּאָדָ֖םba.'a.DamH120and animalוּבַבְּהֵמָ֑הu.va.be.he.MahH929.Allכָּל־kol-H3605the dustעֲפַ֥ר'a.FarH6083of the earthהָאָ֛רֶץha.'A.retzH776turnedH1961intognatsכִנִּ֖יםkhi.NimH3654through allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.
18The soothsayerH2748priestsH2748triedוַיַּעֲשׂוּ־vai.ya.'a.su-H6213with their secretH3909artsH3909to produceלְהוֹצִ֥יאle.ho.Tzi'H3318gnatsהַכִּנִּ֖יםha.ki.NimH3654, butthey couldיָכֹ֑לוּya.Kho.luH3201not; so there weregnatsהַכִּנָּ֔םha.ki.NamH3654on everypersonבָּאָדָ֖םba.'a.DamH120and animalוּבַבְּהֵמָֽה׃u.va.be.he.MahH929.
19Then the soothsayerH2748priestsH2748saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֔הpar.'OhH6547, “Thisהִ֑ואhi'H1931is the fingerאֶצְבַּ֥ע'etz.Ba'H676of Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430.”But Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹה֙par.'OhH6547heartלֵב־lev-H3820washardenedוַיֶּחֱזַ֤קvai.ye.che.ZakH2388,and he did not listenשָׁמַ֣עsha.Ma'H8085to them, justH3512asH3512the Lordיְהוָֽה׃ סYah.wehH3068had saidדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696.
20Then the LordH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872, “Riseהַשְׁכֵּ֤םhash.KemH7925earlyH7925in the morningבַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ba.Bo.kerH1242and presentוְהִתְיַצֵּב֙ve.hit.ya.TzevH3320yourself beforeH6440PharaohH6547, ashe comesH3318outH3318to the waterהַמָּ֑יְמָהha.Ma.ye.mahH4325;and sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559to him, ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the LordH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: “LetH7971My peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971goשַׁלַּ֥חsha.LachH7971,so that they may serveוְיַֽעַבְדֻֽנִי׃ve.Ya.'av.Du.niH5647Me.
21For ifאִם־'im-H518you are not going to letH7971My peopleעַמִּי֒'a.MiH5971goמְשַׁלֵּ֣חַme.sha.Le.achH7971,beholdH2009,I will sendמַשְׁלִ֨יחַmash.Li.achH7971swarmsהֶעָרֹ֑בhe.'a.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157on you and on your servantsוּבַעֲבָדֶ֧יךָu.va.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650and on your peopleוּֽבְעַמְּךָ֛u.ve.'a.me.KhaH5971,and into your housesוּבְבָתֶּ֖יךָu.ve.va.Tei.khaH1004;and the housesבָּתֵּ֤יba.TeiH1004of the EgyptiansH4714will be fullוּמָ֨לְא֜וּu.Mal.'UH4390of swarmsהֶ֣עָרֹ֔בhe.'a.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157,and alsoוְגַ֥םve.GamH1571the groundהָאֲדָמָ֖הha.'a.da.MahH127on whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834they live.
22But on that dayבַיּ֨וֹםvai.YomH3117I will setH6395apartH6395the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Goshenגֹּ֗שֶׁןGo.shenH1657,whereאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834My peopleעַמִּי֙'a.MiH5971arelivingעֹמֵ֣ד'o.MedH5975,so that noלְבִלְתִּ֥יle.vil.TiH1115swarmsעָרֹ֑בa.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157will be thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033,inH4616orderH4616thatH4616you may knowתֵּדַ֔עte.Da'H3045thatI, the LordH3068,am in the midstבְּקֶ֥רֶבbe.Ke.revH7130of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.
24Then the LordH3068didוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213soכֵּ֔ןKenH3651. Andthickכָּבֵ֔דka.VedH3515swarmsעָרֹ֣בa.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157enteredוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935the houseבֵּ֥יתָהBei.tahH1004of PharaohH6547and the housesוּבֵ֣יתu.VeitH1004of his servantsעֲבָדָ֑יו'a.va.DavH5650,and the landאֶ֧רֶץ'E.retzH776waslaidH7843wasteH7843becauseמִפְּנֵ֥יmi.pe.NeiH4480H6440of the swarmsהֶעָרֹֽב׃he.'a.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157in allוּבְכָל־u.ve.Khol-H3605the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֛יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714.
26But MosesH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “It isH3559not permissibleH3559for usto doלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213soכֵּ֔ןKenH3651,becauseכִּ֚יkiH3588we will sacrificeנִזְבַּ֖חniz.BachH2076to the LordH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430that which isan abominationתּוֹעֲבַ֣תto.'a.VatH8441to the Egyptiansמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714.Ifהֵ֣ןhenH2005we sacrificeנִזְבַּ֞חniz.BachH2076that which is an abominationתּוֹעֲבַ֥תto.'a.VatH8441to the Egyptiansמִצְרַ֛יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714before their eyesלְעֵינֵיהֶ֖םle.'ei.nei.HemH5869,will they not stoneיִסְקְלֻֽנוּ׃yis.ke.Lu.nuH5619us?
27We must goנֵלֵ֖ךְne.LekhH1980athreeשְׁלֹ֣שֶׁתshe.Lo.shetH7969days’יָמִ֔יםya.MimH3117journeyדֶּ֚רֶךְDe.rekhH1870into the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057and sacrificeוְזָבַ֙חְנוּ֙ve.za.Vach.nuH2076to the LordH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,justH3512asH3512Hecommandsיֹאמַ֥רyo.MarH559us.”
28PharaohH6547saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I will letאֲשַׁלַּ֤ח'a.sha.LachH7971you goשִׁלַּ֖חshi.LachH7971,so that you may sacrificeוּזְבַחְתֶּ֞םu.ze.vach.TemH2076to the Lordלַיהוָ֤הla.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹֽהֵיכֶם֙'e.lo.hei.KhemH430in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057;onlyH7534you shall not goלָלֶ֑כֶתla.Le.khetH1980veryהַרְחֵ֥קhar.ChekH7368farתַרְחִ֖יקוּtar.Chi.kuH7368away.Pleadהַעְתִּ֖ירוּha'.Ti.ruH6279for me.”
29Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,I am going to leaveיוֹצֵ֤אyo.Tze'H3318H4480you, and I will pleadוְהַעְתַּרְתִּ֣יve.ha'.tar.TiH6279with the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068that the swarmsהֶעָרֹ֗בhe.'a.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157may departוְסָ֣רve.SarH5493from Pharaohמִפַּרְעֹ֛הmi.par.'OhH6547,from his servantsמֵעֲבָדָ֥יוme.'a.va.DavH5650,and from his peopleוּמֵעַמּ֖וֹu.me.'a.MoH5971tomorrowמָחָ֑רma.CharH4279;onlyH7534do not let Pharaohפַּרְעֹה֙par.'OhH6547dealH8524deceitfullyH8524againיֹסֵ֤ףyo.SefH3254in not lettingH7971the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971goשַׁלַּ֣חsha.LachH7971to sacrificeלִזְבֹּ֖חַliz.Bo.achH2076to the Lordלַֽיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068.”
31The Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068didוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213as Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872askedכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697,and removedוַיָּ֙סַר֙vai.Ya.sarH5493the swarmsהֶעָרֹ֔בhe.'a.RoH6157ofH6157fliesH6157from Pharaohמִפַּרְעֹ֖הmi.par.'OhH6547,from his servantsמֵעֲבָדָ֣יוme.'a.va.DavH5650,and from his peopleוּמֵעַמּ֑וֹu.me.'a.MoH5971;not oneאֶחָֽד׃'e.ChadH259remainedנִשְׁאַ֖רnish.'ArH7604.
