1Now when the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200that Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872delayedבֹשֵׁ֥שׁvo.SheshH954to comeלָרֶ֣דֶתla.Re.detH3381downH3381from the mountainהָהָ֑רha.HarH2022,the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971assembledוַיִּקָּהֵ֨לvai.yi.ka.HelH6950aroundעַֽל־'al-H5921Aaronאַהֲרֹ֗ן'a.ha.RonH175and saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559to him, “Comeק֣וּם׀kumH6965,makeעֲשֵׂה־'a.seh-H6213usa godאֱלֹהִ֗ים'E.lo.HimH430whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834will goיֵֽלְכוּ֙ye.le.KhuH1980beforeלְפָנֵ֔ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440us; forthisזֶ֣ה׀zehH2088Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872,the manהָאִ֗ישׁha.'IshH376whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834broughtH5927us upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714--we do not knowיָדַ֖עְנוּya.Da'.nuH3045whatמֶה־meh-H4100happenedהָ֥יָהHa.yahH1961to him.”
2Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Tearפָּֽרְקוּ֙pa.re.KuH6561offH6561the goldהַזָּהָ֔בha.za.HavH2091ringsנִזְמֵ֣יniz.MeiH5141whichאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834are in the earsבְּאָזְנֵ֣יbe.'a.ze.NeiH241of your wivesנְשֵׁיכֶ֔םne.shei.KhemH802,your sonsבְּנֵיכֶ֖םbe.nei.KhemH1121,and your daughtersוּבְנֹתֵיכֶ֑םu.ve.no.tei.KhemH1323,and bringוְהָבִ֖יאוּve.ha.Vi.'uH935them to me.”
4Then he tookוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947the gold from theirhandsמִיָּדָ֗םmi.ya.DamH3027,and fashionedוַיָּ֤צַרvai.Ya.tzarH6696it with an engravingH2747toolH2747and madeוַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֖הוּvai.ya.'a.Se.huH6213it into acastH4541metalמַסֵּכָ֑הma.se.KhahH4541calfעֵ֣גֶל'E.gelH5695;and they saidוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, “Thisאֵ֤לֶּה'E.lehH428is your godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834broughtH5927you upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.”
5Now when Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200this,he builtוַיִּ֥בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֖חַmiz.Be.achH4196in frontלְפָנָ֑יוle.fa.NavH6440of it; and Aaronאַֽהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175madeH7121aH7121proclamationH7121and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “Tomorrowמָחָֽר׃ma.CharH4279shall bea feastחַ֥גchagH2282to the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.”
6So the nextמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283dayH4283they gotH7925upH7925earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֙ימוּ֙vai.yash.Ki.muH7925andofferedוַיַּעֲל֣וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927burntעֹלֹ֔ת'o.LotH5930offeringsH5930,and broughtוַיַּגִּ֖שׁוּvai.ya.Gi.shuH5066peaceשְׁלָמִ֑יםshe.la.MimH8002offeringsH8002; andthe peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971satH3427downוַיֵּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427to eatלֶֽאֱכֹ֣לle.'e.KholH398and to drinkוְשָׁת֔וֹve.sha.ToH8354,and gotH6965upH6965to engageH6711inH6711lewdH6711behaviorH6711.
7Then the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068spokeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872, “Goלֶךְ־lekh-H1980downH3381at onceH3381,for your peopleעַמְּךָ֔'a.me.KhaH5971,whomאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you broughtH5927upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714, havebehavedH7843corruptlyשִׁחֵ֣תshi.ChetH7843.
8They have quicklyמַהֵ֗רma.HerH4118turnedH5493asideסָ֣רוּSa.ruH5493from the wayהַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ha.De.rekhH1870whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I commandedצִוִּיתִ֔םtzi.vi.TimH6680them.They have madeעָשׂ֣וּ'a.SuH6213for themselves a castH4541metalמַסֵּכָ֑הma.se.KhahH4541calfעֵ֖גֶל'E.gelH5695,and have worshipedH2331it andhave sacrificedוַיִּזְבְּחוּ־vai.yiz.be.chu-H2076to it and saidוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, ‘Thisאֵ֤לֶּה'E.lehH428is your godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834broughtH5927you upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714!’”
10So nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258leaveהַנִּ֣יחָהha.Ni.chahH5117Me aloneH5117,that My angerאַפִּ֥י'a.PiH639may burnוְיִֽחַר־ve.yi.char-H2734against them and that I may destroyוַאֲכַלֵּ֑םva.'a.kha.LemH3615them; andI will makeוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥הve.'e.'e.SehH6213of you a greatגָּדֽוֹל׃ga.DolH1419nationלְג֥וֹיle.GoyH1471.”

11ThenMosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872pleadedוַיְחַ֣לvay.ChalH2470with the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068his Godאֱלֹהָ֑יו'e.lo.HavH430,and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,whyלָמָ֤הla.MahH4100does Your angerאַפְּךָ֙'a.pe.KhaH639burnיֶחֱרֶ֤הye.che.RehH2734against Your peopleבְּעַמֶּ֔ךָbe.'a.Me.khaH5971whomאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834You have broughtH3318outH3318from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714with greatגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419powerבְּכֹ֥חַbe.Kho.achH3581and with a mightyחֲזָקָֽה׃cha.za.KahH2389handוּבְיָ֥דu.ve.YadH3027?
12Whyלָמָּה֩la.MahH4100shouldthe EgyptiansH4714talkיֹאמְר֨וּyo.me.RuH559,sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, ‘With evilH7463motivesHe broughtH3318them outH3318,to killלַהֲרֹ֤גla.ha.RogH2026them on the mountainsבֶּֽהָרִ֔יםbe.ha.RimH2022and to destroyוּ֨לְכַלֹּתָ֔םu.le.kha.lo.TamH3615them from the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the earthהָֽאֲדָמָ֑הha.'a.da.MahH127’?Turnשׁ֚וּבShuvH7725from Your burningמֵחֲר֣וֹןme.cha.RonH2740angerאַפֶּ֔ךָ'a.Pe.khaH639and relentוְהִנָּחֵ֥םve.hi.na.ChemH5162of doingharmH7463to Your peopleלְעַמֶּֽךָ׃le.'a.Me.khaH5971.
13Rememberזְכֹ֡רze.KhorH2142Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָם֩le.'av.ra.HamH85,Isaacלְיִצְחָ֨קle.yitz.ChakH3327,and Israelוּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לu.le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,Your servantsעֲבָדֶ֗יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650to whomאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834Yousworeנִשְׁבַּ֣עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650by Yourself, and saidוַתְּדַבֵּ֣רva.te.da.BerH1696to them, ‘I willmultiplyאַרְבֶּה֙'ar.BehH7235yourdescendantsזַרְעֲכֶ֔םzar.'a.KhemH2233as the starsכְּכוֹכְבֵ֖יke.chokh.VeiH3556of the heavensהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064, andallוְכָל־ve.kholH3605thisH2088landהָאָ֨רֶץha.'A.retzH776of whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I have spokenאָמַ֗רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559I will giveאֶתֵּן֙'e.TenH5414to yourdescendantsלְזַרְעֲכֶ֔םle.zar.'a.KhemH2233,and they shall inheritוְנָחֲל֖וּve.na.cha.LuH5157itforeverלְעֹלָֽם׃le.'o.LamH5769.’”
15Then Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872turnedוַיִּ֜פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437and wentH3381downוַיֵּ֤רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381from the mountainהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022with the twoוּשְׁנֵ֛יu.she.NeiH8147tabletsלֻחֹ֥תlu.ChotH3871of the testimonyהָעֵדֻ֖תha.'e.DutH5715in his handבְּיָד֑וֹbe.ya.DoH3027,tabletsלֻחֹ֗תlu.ChotH3871which were writtenכְּתֻבִים֙ke.tu.VimH3789on bothמִשְּׁנֵ֣יmi.she.NeiH8147sidesעֶבְרֵיהֶ֔ם'ev.rei.HemH5676;they were writtenכְּתֻבִֽים׃ke.tu.VimH3789on oneמִזֶּ֥הmi.ZehH2088sideand the otherוּמִזֶּ֖הu.mi.ZehH2088.
17Now when Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֧עvai.yish.Ma'H8085the soundק֥וֹלKolH6963of the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971as they shoutedבְּרֵע֑וֹbe.re.'OH7452,he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872, “There isa soundק֥וֹלKolH6963of warמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421in the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶה׃Ba.ma.cha.nehH4264.”

19And it cameH1961aboutH1961,asH3512soonH3512asH3512Moses approachedקָרַב֙ka.RavH7126the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הha.ma.cha.NehH4264, thathe sawוַיַּ֥רְאvai.Yar'H7200the calfהָעֵ֖גֶלha.'E.gelH5695and the peopledancingוּמְחֹלֹ֑תu.me.cho.LotH4246;and Moses’מֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872angerאַ֣ף'afH639burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734, andhe threwוַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְvai.yash.LekhH7993the tabletsהַלֻּחֹ֔תha.lu.ChotH3871from his handsמִיָּדָיו֙mi.ya.dovH3027and shatteredH7665them toH7665piecesH7665atH8478theH8478footH8478ofH8478the mountainהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022.
20Thenhe tookוַיִּקַּ֞חvai.yi.KachH3947the calfהָעֵ֨גֶלha.'E.gelH5695whichאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834they had madeעָשׂוּ֙'a.SuH6213and completelyH8313burnedוַיִּשְׂרֹ֣ףvai.yis.RofH8313itwith fireבָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784,and groundוַיִּטְחַ֖ןvai.yit.ChanH2912it to powderאֲשֶׁר־ דָּ֑ק'a.Sher- DakH834H1854,and scatteredוַיִּ֙זֶר֙vai.Yi.zerH2219it overעַל־'al-H5921the surfaceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the waterהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325and madeH8248the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478drinkוַיַּ֖שְׁקְvai.YashkH8248it.
23Forthey saidוַיֹּ֣אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559to me, ‘Makeעֲשֵׂה־'a.seh-H6213a godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430for us whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834will goיֵלְכ֖וּye.le.KhuH1980beforeלְפָנֵ֑ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440us; for thisזֶ֣ה׀zehH2088Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872,the manהָאִ֗ישׁha.'IshH376whoאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834broughtH5927us upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714--we do not knowיָדַ֖עְנוּya.Da'.nuH3045whatמֶה־meh-H4100happenedהָ֥יָהHa.yahH1961to him.’
24So I saidוָאֹמַ֤רva.'o.MarH559to them, ‘Whoeverלְמִ֣יle.MiH4310has any goldזָהָ֔בza.HavH2091,let them tearהִתְפָּרָ֖קוּhit.pa.Ra.kuH6561it offH6561.’Then they gaveוַיִּתְּנוּ־vai.yi.te.nu-H5414it to me, andI threwוָאַשְׁלִכֵ֣הוּva.'ash.li.Khe.huH7993it into the fireבָאֵ֔שׁva.'EshH784,and outH3318cameH3318thisהַזֶּֽה׃ha.ZehH2088calfהָעֵ֥גֶלha.'E.gelH5695.”
25Now when Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872sawוַיַּ֤רְאvai.Yar'H7200that the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971wereH6544outH6544ofH6544controlH6544--for Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175had let themgetH6544outH6544ofH6544controlH6544to the point of beingan objectH8103ofH8103ridiculeH8103amongtheir enemiesבְּקָמֵיהֶֽם׃be.ka.mei.HemH6965--
26Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872then stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֤דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975at the gateבְּשַׁ֣עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179of the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,and saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whoeverמִ֥יmiH4310is for the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068, cometo me!” And allכָּל־kol-H3605the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Leviלֵוִֽי׃le.ViH3878gatheredוַיֵּאָסְפ֥וּvai.ye.'a.se.FuH622together to him.
27And he saidH559to them, “ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478saysH1696: ‘EveryH376manH376of youputשִׂ֥ימוּSi.muH7760his swordחַרְבּ֖וֹchar.BoH2719on his thighיְרֵכ֑וֹye.re.KhoH3409,and goH5674H7725backH7725and forthH5674from gateמִשַּׁ֤עַרmi.Sha.'arH8179to gateלָשַׁ֙עַר֙la.Sha.'arH8179in the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הba.ma.cha.NehH4264,and killוְהִרְג֧וּve.hir.GuH2026everyH376manH376his brotherאָחִ֛יו'a.ChivH251,and everyH376manH376his friendרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453,and everyH376manH376hisneighborH7453.’”
28Sothe sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Leviלֵוִ֖יle.ViH3878didוַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213as Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872instructedכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697,and about threeכִּשְׁלֹ֥שֶׁתkish.Lo.shetH7969thousandאַלְפֵ֖י'al.FeiH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376of the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971fellוַיִּפֹּ֤לvai.yi.PolH5307that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117.
29Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Dedicateמִלְא֨וּmil.'UH4390yourselvesיֶדְכֶ֤םyed.KhemH3027todayהַיּוֹם֙hai.yOmH3117to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068--for everyH376manH376has been against his sonבִּבְנ֖וֹbiv.NoH1121and against his brotherוּבְאָחִ֑יוu.ve.'a.ChivH251--in order that He may bestowוְלָתֵ֧תve.la.TetH5414a blessingבְּרָכָֽה׃be.ra.KhahH1293upon you todayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117.”
30And on the nextמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283dayH4283Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971, “You yourselvesH864havecommittedחֲטָאתֶ֖םcha.ta.TemH2398a greatגְדֹלָ֑הge.do.LahH1419sinחֲטָאָ֣הcha.ta.'AhH2401;and nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258I am goingאֶֽעֱלֶ֣ה'e.'e.LehH5927upH5927to the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068;perhapsאוּלַ֥י'u.LaiH194I canmakeH3722atonementH3722for your sinחַטַּאתְכֶֽם׃cha.tat.KhemH2403.”
31Then Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872returnedוַיָּ֧שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “Ohאָ֣נָּ֗א'a.Na'H577,thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971hascommittedחָטָ֞אcha.Ta'H2398a greatגְדֹלָ֔הge.do.LahH1419sinחֲטָאָ֣הcha.ta.'AhH2401,and they have madeוַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213agodאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of goldזָהָֽב׃za.HavH2091for themselves!
32But nowוְעַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH6258,ifאִם־'im-H518You will forgiveתִּשָּׂ֣אti.Sa'H5375their sinחַטָּאתָ֑םcha.ta.TamH2403, very well;but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518not, pleaseנָ֔אNa'H4994wipeמְחֵ֣נִיme.Che.niH4229me outH4229from Yourbookמִֽסִּפְרְךָ֖mi.sif.re.KhaH5612whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834You have writtenכָּתָֽבְתָּ׃ka.Ta.ve.taH3789!”
34But goלֵ֣ךְ׀lekhH1980nowוְעַתָּ֞הve.'a.TahH6258,leadנְחֵ֣הne.ChehH5148the peopleהָעָ֗םha.'AmH5971whereאֶ֤ל אֲשֶׁר־'el 'a.Sher-H413H834I toldדִּבַּ֙רְתִּי֙di.Bar.tiH1696you.
