1And when the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200that Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872delayedבֹשֵׁ֥שׁvo.SheshH954to come downלָרֶ֣דֶתla.Re.detH3381out of the mountהָהָ֑רha.HarH2022,the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971gathered themselves togetherוַיִּקָּהֵ֨לvai.yi.ka.HelH6950unto Aaronאַהֲרֹ֗ן'a.ha.RonH175,and saidוַיֹּאמְר֤וּvai.yo.me.RuH559unto him, Upק֣וּם׀kumH6965,makeעֲשֵׂה־'a.seh-H6213us godsאֱלֹהִ֗ים'E.lo.HimH430,which shall goH3212beforeלְפָנֵ֔ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440us; for as forthis Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872,the manהָאִ֗ישׁha.'IshH376that broughtהֶֽעֱלָ֙נוּ֙he.'e.La.nuH5927us up out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,we wotיָדַ֖עְנוּya.Da'.nuH3045not what is become of him.

2And Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Break offפָּֽרְקוּ֙pa.re.KuH6561the goldenהַזָּהָ֔בha.za.HavH2091earringsנִזְמֵ֣יniz.MeiH5141, which arein the earsבְּאָזְנֵ֣יbe.'a.ze.NeiH241of your wivesנְשֵׁיכֶ֔םne.shei.KhemH802,of your sonsבְּנֵיכֶ֖םbe.nei.KhemH1121,and of your daughtersוּבְנֹתֵיכֶ֑םu.ve.no.tei.KhemH1323,and bringוְהָבִ֖יאוּve.ha.Vi.'uH935them unto me.

3And all the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971brake offוַיִּתְפָּֽרְקוּ֙vai.yit.pa.re.KuH6561the goldenהַזָּהָ֖בha.za.HavH2091earringsנִזְמֵ֥יniz.MeiH5141which werein their earsבְּאָזְנֵיהֶ֑םbe.'a.ze.nei.HemH241,and broughtוַיָּבִ֖יאוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935themunto Aaronאַהֲרֹֽן׃'a.ha.RonH175.

4And he receivedוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947themat their handמִיָּדָ֗םmi.ya.DamH3027,and fashionedוַיָּ֤צַרvai.Ya.tzarH6696it with a graving toolבַּחֶ֔רֶטba.Che.retH2747,after he had madeוַֽיַּעֲשֵׂ֖הוּvai.ya.'a.Se.huH6213it a moltenמַסֵּכָ֑הma.se.KhahH4541calfעֵ֣גֶל'E.gelH5695:and they saidוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, These bethy godsאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,O Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,which broughtהֶעֱל֖וּךָhe.'e.Lu.khaH5927thee up out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.

5And when Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175sawוַיַּ֣רְאvai.Yar'H7200it,he builtוַיִּ֥בֶןvai.Yi.venH1129an altarמִזְבֵּ֖חַmiz.Be.achH4196beforeלְפָנָ֑יוle.fa.NavH6440it; and Aaronאַֽהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175made proclamationוַיִּקְרָ֤אvai.yik.Ra'H7121,and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559,To morrowמָחָֽר׃ma.CharH4279isa feastחַ֥גchagH2282to the Lordלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068.

6And they rose up earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֙ימוּ֙vai.yash.Ki.muH7925on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,and offeredוַיַּעֲל֣וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927burnt offeringsעֹלֹ֔ת'o.LotH5930,and broughtוַיַּגִּ֖שׁוּvai.ya.Gi.shuH5066peace offeringsשְׁלָמִ֑יםshe.la.MimH8002;and the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971satוַיֵּ֤שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427down to eatלֶֽאֱכֹ֣לle.'e.KholH398and to drinkוְשָׁת֔וֹve.sha.ToH8354,and rose upוַיָּקֻ֖מוּvai.ya.Ku.muH6965to playלְצַחֵֽק׃ פle.tza.ChekH6711.

7And the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068saidוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696unto Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872,GoH3212,get thee downרֵ֕דredH3381;for thy peopleעַמְּךָ֔'a.me.KhaH5971,which thou broughtestהֶעֱלֵ֖יתָhe.'e.Lei.taH5927out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714,have corruptedשִׁחֵ֣תshi.ChetH7843themselves:

8They have turnedסָ֣רוּSa.ruH5493aside quicklyמַהֵ֗רma.HerH4118out of the wayהַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ha.De.rekhH1870which I commandedצִוִּיתִ֔םtzi.vi.TimH6680them: they have madeעָשׂ֣וּ'a.SuH6213them a moltenמַסֵּכָ֑הma.se.KhahH4541calfעֵ֖גֶל'E.gelH5695,and have worshippedוַיִּשְׁתַּֽחֲווּ־vai.yish.ta.cha.vu-H7812it, and have sacrificedוַיִּזְבְּחוּ־vai.yiz.be.chu-H2076thereunto, and saidוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, These bethy godsאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,O Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,which have brought thee upהֶֽעֱל֖וּךָhe.'e.Lu.khaH5927out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.

9And the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872,I have seenרָאִ֙יתִי֙ra.'I.tiH7200this peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971, and, behold, it isa stiffneckedקְשֵׁה־ עֹ֖רֶףke.sheh- 'O.refH6203 H7186peopleעַם־'am-H5971:

10Now therefore let me aloneH3240,that my wrathאַפִּ֥י'a.PiH639may wax hotוְיִֽחַר־ve.yi.char-H2734against them, and that I may consumeוַאֲכַלֵּ֑םva.'a.kha.LemH3615them: and I will makeוְאֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥הve.'e.'e.SehH6213of thee a greatגָּדֽוֹל׃ga.DolH1419nationלְג֥וֹיle.GoyH1471.

11And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872besoughtוַיְחַ֣ל פְּנֵ֖יvay.Chal pe.NeiH6440 H2470the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068his Godאֱלֹהָ֑יו'e.lo.HavH430,and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,why doth thy wrathאַפְּךָ֙'a.pe.KhaH639wax hotיֶחֱרֶ֤הye.che.RehH2734against thy peopleבְּעַמֶּ֔ךָbe.'a.Me.khaH5971,which thou hast brought forthהוֹצֵ֙אתָ֙ho.Tze.taH3318out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714with greatגָּד֖וֹלga.DolH1419powerבְּכֹ֥חַbe.Kho.achH3581,and with a mightyחֲזָקָֽה׃cha.za.KahH2389handוּבְיָ֥דu.ve.YadH3027?

12Wherefore should the EgyptiansH4714speakיֹאמְר֨וּyo.me.RuH559,and sayלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559,For mischiefבְּרָעָ֤הbe.ra.'AhH7451did he bringהֽוֹצִיאָם֙ho.tzi.'AmH3318them out, to slayלַהֲרֹ֤גla.ha.RogH2026them in the mountainsבֶּֽהָרִ֔יםbe.ha.RimH2022,and to consumeוּ֨לְכַלֹּתָ֔םu.le.kha.lo.TamH3615them from the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the earthהָֽאֲדָמָ֑הha.'a.da.MahH127?Turnשׁ֚וּבShuvH7725from thy fierceמֵחֲר֣וֹןme.cha.RonH2740wrathאַפֶּ֔ךָ'a.Pe.khaH639,and repentוְהִנָּחֵ֥םve.hi.na.ChemH5162of this evilהָרָעָ֖הha.ra.'AhH7451against thy peopleלְעַמֶּֽךָ׃le.'a.Me.khaH5971.

13Rememberזְכֹ֡רze.KhorH2142Abrahamלְאַבְרָהָם֩le.'av.ra.HamH85,Isaacלְיִצְחָ֨קle.yitz.ChakH3327,and Israelוּלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֜לu.le.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,thy servantsעֲבָדֶ֗יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650,to whom thou swarestנִשְׁבַּ֣עְתָּnish.Ba'.taH7650by thine own self, and saidstוַתְּדַבֵּ֣רva.te.da.BerH1696unto them, I will multiplyאַרְבֶּה֙'ar.BehH7235your seedזַרְעֲכֶ֔םzar.'a.KhemH2233as the starsכְּכוֹכְבֵ֖יke.chokh.VeiH3556of heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064,and all this landהָאָ֨רֶץha.'A.retzH776that I have spokenאָמַ֗רְתִּי'a.Mar.tiH559of will I giveאֶתֵּן֙'e.TenH5414unto your seedלְזַרְעֲכֶ֔םle.zar.'a.KhemH2233,and they shall inheritוְנָחֲל֖וּve.na.cha.LuH5157itfor everלְעֹלָֽם׃le.'o.LamH5769.

14And the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068repentedוַיִּנָּ֖חֶםvai.yi.Na.chemH5162of the evilהָ֣רָעָ֔הha.ra.'AhH7451which he thoughtדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696to doלַעֲשׂ֥וֹתla.'a.SotH6213unto his peopleלְעַמּֽוֹ׃ פle.'a.MoH5971.

15And Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872turnedוַיִּ֜פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437,and went downוַיֵּ֤רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381from the mountהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022,and the twoוּשְׁנֵ֛יu.she.NeiH8147tablesלֻחֹ֥תlu.ChotH3871of the testimonyהָעֵדֻ֖תha.'e.DutH5715werein his handבְּיָד֑וֹbe.ya.DoH3027:the tablesלֻחֹ֗תlu.ChotH3871werewrittenכְּתֻבִים֙ke.tu.VimH3789on bothמִשְּׁנֵ֣יmi.she.NeiH8147their sidesעֶבְרֵיהֶ֔ם'ev.rei.HemH5676; on the one side and on the other werethey writtenכְּתֻבִֽים׃ke.tu.VimH3789.

16And the tablesוְהַ֨לֻּחֹ֔תve.Ha.lu.ChotH3871werethe workמַעֲשֵׂ֥הma.'a.SehH4639of Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430,and the writingוְהַמִּכְתָּ֗בve.ha.mikh.TavH4385wasthe writingמִכְתַּ֤בmikh.TavH4385of Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430,gravenחָר֖וּתcha.RutH2801upon the tablesהַלֻּחֹֽת׃ha.lu.ChotH3871.

17And when Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֛עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֧עvai.yish.Ma'H8085the noiseק֥וֹלKolH6963of the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971as they shoutedבְּרֵע֑וֹbe.re.'OH7452,he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559unto Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872, There isa noiseק֥וֹלKolH6963of warמִלְחָמָ֖הmil.cha.MahH4421in the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶה׃Ba.ma.cha.nehH4264.

18And he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, It isnot the voiceקוֹל֙kOlH6963of them thatshoutH6030for masteryגְּבוּרָ֔הge.vu.RahH1369, neither is itthe voiceק֖וֹלKolH6963of them thatcryH6030for being overcomeחֲלוּשָׁ֑הcha.lu.ShahH2476: butthe noiseק֣וֹלKolH6963of them thatsingH6031do I hearשֹׁמֵֽעַ׃sho.Me.a'H8085.

19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nighקָרַב֙ka.RavH7126unto the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,that he sawוַיַּ֥רְאvai.Yar'H7200the calfהָעֵ֖גֶלha.'E.gelH5695,and the dancingוּמְחֹלֹ֑תu.me.cho.LotH4246:and Moses’מֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872angerאַ֣ף'afH639waxed hotוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734,and he castוַיַּשְׁלֵ֤ךְvai.yash.LekhH7993the tablesהַלֻּחֹ֔תha.lu.ChotH3871out of his handsמִיָּדָיו֙mi.ya.dovH3027,and brakeוַיְשַׁבֵּ֥רvay.sha.BerH7665them beneathתַּ֥חַתTa.chatH8478the mountהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022.

20And he tookוַיִּקַּ֞חvai.yi.KachH3947the calfהָעֵ֨גֶלha.'E.gelH5695which they had madeעָשׂוּ֙'a.SuH6213,and burntוַיִּשְׂרֹ֣ףvai.yis.RofH8313itin the fireבָּאֵ֔שׁba.'EshH784,and groundוַיִּטְחַ֖ןvai.yit.ChanH2912itto powderדָּ֑קDakH1854,and strawedוַיִּ֙זֶר֙vai.Yi.zerH2219ituponפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440the waterהַמַּ֔יִםha.Ma.yimH4325,and made the childrenבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478drinkוַיַּ֖שְׁקְvai.YashkH8248of it.

21And Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175,What didעָשָׂ֥ה'a.SahH6213this peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971unto thee, that thou hast broughtהֵבֵ֥אתָhe.Ve.taH935so greatגְדֹלָֽה׃ge.do.LahH1419a sinחֲטָאָ֥הcha.ta.'AhH2401upon them?

22And Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Let not the angerאַ֖ף'afH639of my lordאֲדֹנִ֑י'a.do.NiH113wax hotיִ֥חַרYi.charH2734:thou knowestיָדַ֣עְתָּya.Da'.taH3045the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971, that they are seton mischiefבְרָ֖עve.Ra'H7451.

23For they saidוַיֹּ֣אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559unto me, Makeעֲשֵׂה־'a.seh-H6213us godsאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430,which shall goH3212beforeלְפָנֵ֑ינוּle.fa.Nei.nuH6440us: for as forthis Mosesמֹשֶׁ֣הmo.ShehH4872,the manהָאִ֗ישׁha.'IshH376that brought us upהֶֽעֱלָ֙נוּ֙he.'e.La.nuH5927out of the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,we wotיָדַ֖עְנוּya.Da'.nuH3045not what is become of him.

24And I saidוָאֹמַ֤רva.'o.MarH559unto them, Whosoever hath any goldזָהָ֔בza.HavH2091,let them breakהִתְפָּרָ֖קוּhit.pa.Ra.kuH6561itoff. So they gaveוַיִּתְּנוּ־vai.yi.te.nu-H5414itme: then I castוָאַשְׁלִכֵ֣הוּva.'ash.li.Khe.huH7993it into the fireבָאֵ֔שׁva.'EshH784,and there came outוַיֵּצֵ֖אvai.ye.Tze'H3318this calfהָעֵ֥גֶלha.'E.gelH5695.

25And when Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872sawוַיַּ֤רְאvai.Yar'H7200that the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971werenakedפָרֻ֖עַfa.Ru.a'H6544; (for Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175had made them nakedפְרָעֹ֣הfe.ra.'OhH6544unto theirshameלְשִׁמְצָ֖הle.shim.TzahH8103among their enemiesבְּקָמֵיהֶֽם׃be.ka.mei.HemH6965:)

26Then Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֤דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975in the gateבְּשַׁ֣עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179of the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,and saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, Who ison the Lord’sלַיהוָ֖הla.Yah.wehH3068side? let him comeunto me. And all the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Leviלֵוִֽי׃le.ViH3878gatheredוַיֵּאָסְפ֥וּvai.ye.'a.se.FuH622themselves together unto him.

27And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, Thus saithאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,Putשִׂ֥ימוּSi.muH7760every manאִישׁ־'ish-H376his swordחַרְבּ֖וֹchar.BoH2719by his sideיְרֵכ֑וֹye.re.KhoH3409, andgoעִבְר֨וּ'iv.RuH5674in and outוָשׁ֜וּבוּva.Shu.vuH7725from gateמִשַּׁ֤עַרmi.Sha.'arH8179to gateלָשַׁ֙עַר֙la.Sha.'arH8179throughout the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶ֔הba.ma.cha.NehH4264,and slayוְהִרְג֧וּve.hir.GuH2026every manאִֽישׁ־'ish-H376his brotherאָחִ֛יו'a.ChivH251,and every manוְאִ֥ישׁve.'IshH376his companionרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453,and every manוְאִ֥ישׁve.'IshH376his neighbourקְרֹבֽוֹ׃ke.ro.VoH7138.

28And the childrenבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Leviלֵוִ֖יle.ViH3878didוַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213according to the wordכִּדְבַ֣רkid.VarH1697of Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872:and there fellוַיִּפֹּ֤לvai.yi.PolH5307of the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117about threeכִּשְׁלֹ֥שֶׁתkish.Lo.shetH7969thousandאַלְפֵ֖י'al.FeiH505menאִֽישׁ׃'IshH376.

29For Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872had saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559,Consecrate yourselvesמִלְא֨וּ יֶדְכֶ֤םmil.'U yed.KhemH3027 H4390to dayהַיּוֹם֙hai.yOmH3117to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068,evenכִּ֛יkiH3588every manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376upon his sonבִּבְנ֖וֹbiv.NoH1121,and upon his brotherוּבְאָחִ֑יוu.ve.'a.ChivH251;that he may bestowוְלָתֵ֧תve.la.TetH5414upon you a blessingבְּרָכָֽה׃be.ra.KhahH1293this dayהַיּ֖וֹםhai.YomH3117.

30And it came to pass on the morrowמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,that Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,Ye have sinnedחֲטָאתֶ֖םcha.ta.TemH2398a greatגְדֹלָ֑הge.do.LahH1419sinחֲטָאָ֣הcha.ta.'AhH2401:and now I will go upאֶֽעֱלֶ֣ה'e.'e.LehH5927unto the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068;peradventureאוּלַ֥י'u.LaiH194I shall make an atonementאֲכַפְּרָ֖ה'a.kha.pe.RahH3722forבְּעַ֥דbe.'AdH1157your sinחַטַּאתְכֶֽם׃cha.tat.KhemH2403.

31And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֛הmo.ShehH4872returnedוַיָּ֧שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725unto the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068,and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559,Ohאָ֣נָּ֗א'a.Na'H577,this peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971have sinnedחָטָ֞אcha.Ta'H2398a greatגְדֹלָ֔הge.do.LahH1419sinחֲטָאָ֣הcha.ta.'AhH2401,and have madeוַיַּֽעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213them godsאֱלֹהֵ֥י'e.lo.HeiH430of goldזָהָֽב׃za.HavH2091.

32Yet now, if thou wilt forgiveתִּשָּׂ֣אti.Sa'H5375their sinחַטָּאתָ֑םcha.ta.TamH2403—;and if not, blotמְחֵ֣נִיme.Che.niH4229me, I pray thee, out of thy bookמִֽסִּפְרְךָ֖mi.sif.re.KhaH5612which thou hast writtenכָּתָֽבְתָּ׃ka.Ta.ve.taH3789.
