16For whereὅπουhopouG3699acovenantδιαθήκη,diathēkēG1242is, there must of necessityἀνάγκηanagkēG318be the deathθάνατονthanatonG2288of the one who madeδιαθεμένου·diathemenouG1303it.

17For acovenantδιαθήκηdiathēkēG1242is validβεβαία,bebaiaG949only whenmen are deadνεκροῖςnekroisG3498,for it is neverG3379in forceἰσχύειischueiG2480whileὅτεhoteG3753the one who madeδιαθέμενος.diathemenosG1303it livesζῇzēaG2198.
