11For thisαὕτηhautēG3778is the messageἀγγελίαangeliaG31whichἣνhēnG3739you have heardἠκούσατεēkousateG191from the beginningἀρχῆςarchēsG746,that we should loveἀγαπῶμενagapōmenG25oneἀλλήλους·allēlousG240anotherG240;

12not asCainΚάϊνKainG2535, who was ofthe evilG4190oneG4190and slewἔσφαξενesphaxenG4969his brotherἀδελφὸνadelphonG80.And for whatτίνοςtinosG5101reasonχάρινcharinG5484did he slayἔσφαξενesphaxenG4969him? BecauseὅτιhotiG3754his deedsἔργαergaG2041were evilG4190,and his brother’sἀδελφοῦadelphouG80were righteousδίκαια.¶dikaiaG1342.

13Do not be surprisedθαυμάζετε,thaumazeteG2296,brethrenἀδελφοίadelphoiG80,ifεἰeiG1487the worldκόσμος.kosmosG2889hatesμισεῖmiseiG3404you.

14We knowG3609that we havepassedμεταβεβήκαμενmetabebēkamenG3327out of deathθανάτουthanatouG2288into lifeζωήν,zōēnG2222,becauseG3754we loveἀγαπῶμενagapōmenG25the brethrenἀδελφούς·adelphousG80.He who does not loveἀγαπῶνagapōnG25abidesμένειmeneiG3306in deathθανάτῳ.thanatōG2288.

15EveryoneπᾶςpasG3956whohatesμισῶνmisōnG3404his brotherἀδελφὸνadelphonG80is a murdererἀνθρωποκτόνοςanthrōpoktonosG443;and you knowG3609thatnoπᾶς οὐκpas oukG3956 G3756murdererἀνθρωποκτόνοςanthrōpoktonosG443hasἔχειecheiG2192eternalαἰώνιονaiōnionG166lifeζωὴνzōēnG2222abidingμένουσαν.menousanG3306in him.

16We knowἐγνώκαμενegnōkamenG1097loveἀγάπηνagapēnG26by thisτούτῳtoutōG3778, thatHe laidG5087downἔθηκεν·ethēkenG5087His lifeψυχὴνpsuchēnG5590for us; andwe oughtὀφείλομενopheilomenG3784to layG5087downθεῖναι.¶theinaiG5087our livesψυχὰςpsuchasG5590for thebrethrenἀδελφῶνadelphōnG80.
